Still funny.

what Id pay good money to see though is a Friday Night Dinner reunion. Maybe with the boys bringing their own families to the house. So sad Paul Ritter died, I’m sure they could incorporate his memory somehow.

You can’t complete championship manager…

(Showing I’ve watched this too many times 🫣)

MrsMitford3 · 18/09/2024 21:28

Bus wanker is never not funny

bigdecisionsawait · 18/09/2024 21:32

Always be funny. Actually I dread to think how many times we quote it!
He's mugging you off mate... 😂

echt · 18/09/2024 21:32

By coincidence I've re-watching it. Still bloody funny.

I especially like Greg Davies's Mr Giibert, who says out loud what so many teachers think.

And my favourite: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1689440077961453

I do still laugh a bit at it. But the portrayal of the female characters seems a bit limited. They obviously are primarily there to look pretty and take the piss. Plus it's very white?
So it has aged a bit badly.

stanleypops66 · 18/09/2024 21:39

I've just finished watching again with my teen dd and the two movies. It is very funny but I don't think it would get made now. It would still be as funny with a bit less clunge and fanny talk.

guinnessguzzler · 18/09/2024 21:39

Agree about the female characters but very little makes me laugh as much as the nightclub dance scene in the film. Just hearing that music sets me off, it really is perfect.

Beezknees · 18/09/2024 21:40

Yeah it wouldn't be made now but I still love it.

The second series came out when I was having a really shit time in life and it was a comfort watch.

ooooohnoooooo · 18/09/2024 21:40

Bus stop wankers.

😬

I still can’t get on a bus without calling myself a bus wanker 🤣

“I’d rather be a bus wanker than drive that yellow piece of shit.”

It’s legendary, that episode. The whole show was and will always be amazing.

JeremiahBullfrog · 18/09/2024 21:47

It's nine hours of TV. He was probably working on it for less than a year in total (though not consecutively). I presume he's done loads of acting work since. Of course he doesn't remember it that well!

Not rewatched for a while but I always found it both funny and cringe (in a good way). But it also came out at pretty much exactly the time I was in sixth form, at a pretty similar sort of school. So possibly more relatable to me than to most!

PrincessHoneysuckle · 18/09/2024 21:48

I still love it

That song came on at my friends wedding recently and I was v drunk and did the dance immediately

lazzapazza · 18/09/2024 21:52

Check out the juggasaurus rex

😂

poppyzbrite4 · 18/09/2024 21:52

Yes it was funny but I hated the crude sexist jokes and the female characters were two dimensional.

I thought the first film was very good, loved them dancing in the nightclub. Also loved it when they pulled up to the hotel and the man was pulling a dead dog out of the well. And Kitty.

torturedpoet13 · 18/09/2024 21:54

I'm going to fuck your fucking Fanny off you twat!!!

torturedpoet13 · 18/09/2024 21:55

I watched it when it first came out as a teen but Dh never watched it so we re watched it recently and he thought it was great! We watched the movies too. Such a funny series

mrssunshinexxx · 18/09/2024 21:59

Bloody hilarious can't wait to introduce my kids to shows like this when they're old enough 😂

Walrusdress · 18/09/2024 21:59

It's funny but the situations they get in and the characters themselves are so embarrassingly cringe that I struggled to watch it then and I think I still would now! 😂

Globules · 18/09/2024 22:00

I've rewatched so many times through the years.

A little bit of pee still comes out at the dance scene in the film. Will's gallop will forever be essential to one of the best set pieces.

Lancasterel · 18/09/2024 22:07

It was definitely of its time but sooo funny and I have very fond memories of watching it with my DH years ago… we still often quote it too! We have said though that we can’t imagine it getting made these days but isn’t that the same as most TV programmes when you look back on them with the benefit of 10/20 years having passed?

Chardonnay73 · 18/09/2024 22:08

We as a family absolutely loved it ( 2 Ds) it is one of my greatest regrets in life that when we were on holiday one year about that time, it was late. We were going back to the hotel room. Alcohol had been taken. There was a gap in the hotel entertainment. They were playing the ‘dance’ music. We were walking past the back of the stage and it would have been so, so easy to rush on and do ‘the dance’ on an empty stage!
But we bottled it. 🙁
Still think we would have brought the house down though! 🤣
