So for tv show:

When the Street Lights Go On.
Really good and equally as sad.

Films …. Maybe Creep 2004, I just rewatched it all these years later. But maybe it’s not as obscure as I think.

The Big Blue or Le Grande Bleu

A cult film in France - beautiful scenery, lots of underwater shots - all about free diving.

Mary Mongo & Midge

A child series I loved. The episode I recall is when the mouse posted himself to see what happens when you post a letter.

Soubriquet · 17/09/2024 21:41

I love Dark Angel but I never really found anyone who I could share that with.

Scrubs was huge at the time!

I never watched the changes but I've read the books.

Edited

I didn't know The Changes was also a book, I've just looked it up, £20 on Amazon which is too much for me but good reviews

There was a drama with Pauline quirke called ' shine on Harvey moon ' and one with David Jason ' a bit of a do ' people look puzzled if I mention these , both on itv !

I remember 'Shine on Harvey Moon'. I was quite young when it was on but did watch it.
I'm not a fan of DJ but do remember 'A bit of a do'.

That film is very powerful, maybe I'm older than you or it was just my friends but it was a must see when I was younger. I wonder if it's stood the test of time. I almost dont want to check in case it hasnt

Apparently not that realistic - but still a warning about taking drugs in foreign countries.

See also Bangkok Hilton.

Cheeseballer · 17/09/2024 21:42

The tribe
On ch 5 about 20 years ago, set in NZ, a world with no adults and just kids trying to survive in their 'tribes'

Ineedanewsofa · 17/09/2024 21:43

Dollhouse - surprised none of the Tru Calling fans have said this as well
The Almighty Johnsons - a riff on norse mythology set in modern day New Zealand
I was also obsessed with a tv show called Bug Juice that was on channel 4 in the summer hols when I was a kid but no one else ever seems to have watched it!

januaryjan · 17/09/2024 21:43

White Nights - Mikhail Baryshnikov & Gregory Hines

Needmorelego · 17/09/2024 21:44

@Cheeseballer The Tribe was awesome !
The early era of Channel 5 was just fantastic.
Who watched Sunset Beach?

Soubriquet · 17/09/2024 21:45

Oh yes The Tribe too. It was free to watch on Amazon for a while. Not anymore

See also Bangkok Hilton.

I was far too young to watch Bangkok Hilton, but I did! Makes me twitchy in airports even now.

Unknown series:
Medium with the soft spoken Arquette. Think it was a late night show in the end.

Film:
Moon

LaPalmaLlama · 17/09/2024 21:46

Logan’s run. I always thought it was pretty cult but barely anyone I’ve mentioned it to remembers it. It was this dystopian film about the future and when you were 30 a light glowed red in your hand and you got assassinated.

the80sweregreat · 17/09/2024 21:39

Scrubs always seemed one of those shows nobody watched, but I'm clearly wrong! 😆

It was ubiquitous (along with Green Wing and Diagnosis Murder) if you were a junior doctor around 2005. Everyone wanted to be Dr Cox, girls included.

CatsLikeBoxes · 17/09/2024 21:47

@StoatofDisarray I've watched Santa Clarita diet, in fact I was recommending it to a friend a few days ago.
Also Roswell & Bangkok Hilton.
I'm now busy googling if I can watch these again.

ursuslemonade · 17/09/2024 21:48

A perfect world with Kevin Costner. Nobody ever heard of it.
Third watch was amazing.

Needmorelego · 17/09/2024 21:48

@LaPalmaLlama Logan's Run is an absolute classic.

lifebyfaith · 17/09/2024 20:49

I love Tru Calling! Shame it was pulled during season 2.

Sapphire and Steel

David McCallum ☹️

the80sweregreat · 17/09/2024 21:49

Lots of people don't like Kevin Costner, but he is so sexy in ' a perfect world' and ' the bodyguard '!

The last supper 1995 or Mask 1985. Not totally obscure but let see….

Mask - with Cher? I cried so much

I loved them both. Such a long time ago.

All this nostalgia is taking me back, like @Needmorelego I remember this as a film everyone went to see

There's a theme emerging of poaters suggesting things that were really well known in the 70s and 80s but presumably the younger demographic think no one knows them

januaryjan · 17/09/2024 21:54

TV Series with Stacey Keach called Mistral's Daughter -
