I'm currently in my 3rd S-F week stay in a premier inn.

1st week i forgot nail Polish and remover so had chipped nails not the end of the world.
2nd week I forgot my vape charger luckily was next to big Tesco so bought another.
This week there are no shops around and I've forgotten my hairbrush. I stole a fork from the restaurant so will use that.
What stupid things on trips have you forgotten.

The tent!

I got roundly bollocked for that one

LindorDoubleChoc · 16/09/2024 21:07

Two week beach holiday to the South of France in the summer. I forgot my swimming costumes Hmm. Luckily we were near a big city with a Decathlon.

InMySpareTime · 16/09/2024 21:26

One family holiday I forgot to pack any knickers (back when shops were mostly closed on Sundays), so I rinsed out the pair I wore there to get me through to the Monday then bought more from the supermarket.
Another time DD didn't pack any tops (but was inexplicably wearing 4 in the car!), and a different time an unexpected summer cold snap mid Edinburgh trip meant a trawl round shops for jumpers.

Sheknowsaboutme · 16/09/2024 21:28

knickers. Was away for a week. Wash and dry overnight.

Letmehaveabloodyusernameplease · 16/09/2024 21:33

We went to The Lakes for 3 nights and I forgot my make up bag.
I don't wear much but I feel naked without my mascara and eyebrow highlighter, I didn't feel too bad as no one knew me and I was highly unlikely to bump into anyone I knew but I always make sure to pack it before anything else nowadays.

IBegYourBiggestPardon · 16/09/2024 21:45

My hairbrush. Luckily it was only a coach holiday to Liverpool and Chester so I was able to buy one, although it cost me £18 from body shop in Salford quays cos I had to get it as part of a gift set. Luckily for me though. The hotel bath was absolutely amazing so that gift set got put to good use whilst soaking in the bath. I'm off away in the morning and feel sure I've forgotten something. Or like I know everything is in there but feel like it won't be when I get there.

SoManyTshirts · 16/09/2024 22:00

Bra. Went on holiday wearing a sundress and never thought about it.

Kialla · 16/09/2024 22:08

I once forgot all my trousers/jeans for a 10 day holiday. Packed all my tops, just somehow didn't put any trousers in the case.

And DH forgot his suit for a wedding we were going to. In a very rural area of another country, 3 days after Christmas. That was fun.

JoanThursday · 16/09/2024 22:14

Went to a wedding in a very rural part of Scotland and forgot to pack the shoes to go with my outfit. Nowhere to buy an alternative and so had to wear casual ballet flats with a very posh dress - not the look i was after (even if I couldn't quite walk in the high heeled shoes!)

Some years ago we went on a 'holiday of a lifetime - a month in NZ' I am a super organiser and clothes were laundered, stacked on trestle tables, with co-ordinated outfits etc. As departure date approached, excitement levels grew and packing commenced - shoes - check, posh clothes - check, casual clothes check, medication - check and so on. Trip to LHW ok, flight to USA OK for three day break. Bed time - ah yes. Where's our nightwear? After scrabbling through both sizeable cases it slowly dawned me that it wasn't just nightwear that I'd left at home - it was all my undies too. What I was wearing was for comfort and was more in line with Nora Batty. It was all I had for a month! Luckily, I thought the USA would be ok to buy replacements being somewhat larger. No Undies washed in the shower and dried overnight. We managed but never again.

Alltheyearround · 16/09/2024 22:48

Very organised with prescriptions before trip. Felt smug.

Flapping about the day before trip, I only packed half the tablets I needed and had to ration.

So irritating.

CrushingOnRubies · 16/09/2024 22:49

I tend to forget toothbrushes, deodorant, hairbrush, sock ans my favourite but expensive face cleaning regimes product

I tend to duplicate things now which just live in spongebag. So it's when things run out and I don't replace or it's too expensive to duplicate

I once went on a 3 day business trip with x3 male senior colleagues, I forgot clean underwear! I had to wear the same knickers for 3 days, awful!

I went on a business trip last week, just 1 night and forgot deodorant, mascara & toothpaste 🙄 Fortunately the hotel was quite fancy and the bathroom had teeny tubes of Colgate!

CrushingOnRubies · 16/09/2024 22:57

If I'm travelling in a dress or skirt I also often forget a belt for trousers. Especially as they're new clean and haven't had belt added to the. Yet

Seadragonusgiganticusmaximus · 16/09/2024 23:10

I am currently on a rock climbing trip. I forgot my climbing shoes.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 16/09/2024 23:12

Went to Center Parcs a few years ago and didn't take any underwear. Did you know none of the shops at Center Parcs sell pants? Not one. Could have bought several outfits but no knickers whatsoever. Champion.

More recently drove for 9 hours to Scotland, only to discover the kids had got into the car barefoot. Not a trainer between them.

transformandriseup · 17/09/2024 00:06

I have forgotten clean underwear before 😩.

In fact the post below about Centre Parks reminded me of my first job in the early 2000's cleaning a caravan park in Cornwall as a teenager. It was a very run down place which has now been taken over by new owners and is quite luxurious these days but back then is was very grotty and it had an onsite shop which sold most things you may forget including underwear. However the underwear you could buy were extremely dated, probably from the 80's and the worst thing was they had the logo of the camp site stamped across the front in large writing!! It was clear that they never sold any hence how dated they were and the packaging was covered in dust. I remember thinking at the time if I was staying there I would rather go without.

Simonjt · 17/09/2024 00:21

The nappy bag, so also a change of baby clothes etc.

We only realised when we were on the ferry and went to grab it from the pushchair after a poo explosion. I had to rinse her in the sink and dry her with toilet roll. She then had to wear our sons vest and be very snuggly tucked into her pushchair with a blanket. Thankfully it was only a very short ferry crossing so it wasn’t long until we could get back to the car and get nappies and clothes out of the suitcase.

When we got home the nappy bag was say in our parking space.

Allthehorsesintheworld · 17/09/2024 00:32

When my dc were very small we regularly had to drive up and down the M1. I thought I could pack for 4, including the different sized nappies, don’t forget the potty has to be the red one dc1 won’t use a different one, this toy, that book etc… We’d covered probably 150 miles when I realised I’d not packed packed my pjs…or toothbrush… In fact I had nothing for me at all. It was an expensive trip.

Powderblue1 · 17/09/2024 03:01

I once went on a weekend away with DH and couple friends and didn't take one pair of jeans. We went on the Friday evening straight from work and all I had was formal
Black trousers and we were on a wilderness type holiday. I had to wear my DH jeans the whole weekend 😂

coxesorangepippin · 17/09/2024 03:16

hairbrush here too

Mega annoying

CheeseWisely · 17/09/2024 03:24

$700 in cash 🫣

It was safely tucked in an inside pocket of my hand luggage bag, until I switched bags last minute.

We don't travel to the US often so I lost on the exchange rate, changing it back to £ when we got home from the trip.

CheeseWisely · 17/09/2024 03:27

Also went to Italy for a week and forgot to pack any swimwear at all. Try finding swimwear in Italy that covers your butt cheeks. Clue: you can't.

DreamTheMoors · 17/09/2024 03:27

My friend packed her boyfriend’s suitcase for him for an important business trip.
He flew out and arrived safely.
He called her a few hours later and they had a tense conversation.
She had forgotten to pack any trousers.
Hahaha

ColinRobinsonsFart · 17/09/2024 03:32

All of my medication! Including inhalers, blood pressure tablets and heart meds.
I was so fixed on ensuring my husband's stoma stuff was complete - this was our first holiday since his operation and we were worried we would forget something

Luckily we were in this country so we came home. Slept in our bed and went back to our caravan
