I don't want anybody in the world dead.

Except...

Maybe Putin. Is that allowed or not? I mean he's a father, and possibly a grandfather, he keeps these things under wraps.

But should I not say Putin because he's a father? Or should I not say him for any reason?

Yes where do we draw the line?

🤔

which then leads to the argument or debate of : is having a democracy the best way to elect a president

Yeah those stupid white men without a college degree can’t be trusted to vote 🙄

We know the reasons; racism, xenophobia, misogyny, evangelicalism and the cult of personality. He's a con man who has people believing he can turn back the clock to the 1950s. That's what "make America great again" means. It's about a return to white male supremacy and rapid economic growth. Look at who his base is mostly comprised of- white men without a college degree. The economy has changed and they don't want to accept it. There used to be manufacturing jobs for those men, but the US is no longer a manufacturing based economy, and that'd due to how cheaply goods can be produced in Asia. These men see college educated women and POC surpassing them economically and interpret it as a deliberate economic assault on the white man. Tump is telling them exactly what they want to hear to feed this delusion and their sense of victimhood.

There isn't much to be done about any of that because it's not based on anything rational.

You need to see at the Democrats who are in charged. People I know are talking about inflation, the cost of living crisis and the mess that was electing Biden. The gender issues, the schools curriculum, the borders.

If you can wish one man dead you can wish many men dead. Why only Putin? Why not Kim Jong Un? Why not the Ayatollah ruling Afghanistan with an iron fist?

justasking111 · 15/09/2024 23:26

Trump is an open book. By comparison Harris appears slippery. Simple to vote for Trump if you agree with him. More difficult to vote for Harris when she plays her cards close to her chest for now. But there's apparently 50 days to go.

I think killing politicians is abhorrent

BruFord · 15/09/2024 23:27

soupfiend · 15/09/2024 23:20

You can only regain their support by having the same views and messages, its the same with the Brexit issue here. Labour losing what they considered to be their voters in the referendum.

So whats the answer, to be as racist and xenophobic so you get your voters back?

@soupfiend I don't think that's the case with all of his supporters. Educational and work opportunities in those grim areas would go a long way. Surely we want the same in Britain's depressed areas? Rows of boarded up houses and shop fronts bring out the worst in people.

Poiuytrewql · 15/09/2024 23:30

Some of the comments on this thread are disturbing. The world is going to literal hell. We need to stop dehumanising people. Trump does not deserve to be shot. No one does. Basic respect and humanity is needed.

BruFord · 15/09/2024 23:32

daisychain01 · 15/09/2024 23:22

US absolutely needs gun controls.

Trump did absolutely zero to address the problem, in fact he purposefully pandered to the gun lobby, illegally undermining the legislation by having 500,000 records deleted from the federal background check system

https://democracyforward.org/work/sidebar-trump-done-guns-lot/

he now reaps what he sowed.

@daisychain01 I agree with you. But Harris winning won't make any difference either, it's such a divisive subject. The UK brought in strict controls after the Dunblane massacre in 1996. We've had multiple massacres under multiple presidents, none of them can get consensus on strict gun controls.

The world is going to literal hell? Hyperbole much?

PyongyangKipperbang · 15/09/2024 23:36

He got his arse handed to him by Harris, of course he has staged it!

I agree, there is little investment from government and there should be

But, but, I live in an area which used to have a huge huge eastern European population until most of them left and went home after the B disaster.

'locals', quite racist - would slag these people off, they bring the area down, things were great until foreigners came along.

Yet, the area was a shit hole for decades before it became highly populated with migrants and what did those migrants do when they arrived? Opened shops and businesses, worked, earned money.

So how do they manage it but the 'locals' who left it to shit for decades and decades dont manage it.

There was no extra money from the council/government, no investment whatsoever. The place still has a 'reputation' but is now being gentrified in a different way.

But yet I have to listen to their concerns?

It's bonkers, never known anything like it. I wonder how he feels with people taking pot shots at him.

This comes to mind.

Somebody trying to shoot Trump again
Overtheatlantic · 15/09/2024 23:37

Blackandbluesed · 15/09/2024 23:10

So we should just insult and other those we disagree with and dismiss them as being less than until such time as they become the majority and elect the likes of Trump in?

Ok you don’t get it either.

I assume you have also sent this message to Trump, Putin, Kim, et al?

If we have to be respectful and humane, then so do they. And if they choose not to be, then we can make that same choice. So I am choosing to wish Putin a painful death because that is what he has given to many many people both in Ukraine and within Russia.

I'm never sure about these "ooh we need to listen to these people and be careful not to call them dum or they'll become a majority and vote people like Trump in (who I say I don't like, mind!)"

Seems a weak argument at best, and not really provable. As it's prediction of a possible future outcome that we'll therefore never be able to prove it won't. Since we haven't had all of the future yet.

Or, at worst, some kind of a threat.

I don’t think you’re going to find basic humanity from a republican regime fronted by Trump. It sounds lovely but they’re not even mildly concerned when children are killed in schools via semi automatic weapons. So ‘be nice’ isn’t going to get anyone anywhere in this situation.

Oldseagull · 15/09/2024 23:43

If you are generally against the death penalty for criminals, but giggle and crow over the idea of a political figure you don't like dying, then you should probably take a very deep look inside yourself.

Left, right, democrat, republican. It doesn't matter, a scarily growing number of people have that nasty small side of themselves they keep hidden under the hypocrisy shield.

Considering people keep losing their lives, I think it’s reasonable to assume it’s not staged.

Unless staged by the Democrats. They’re desperate. They’ve thrown everything at Trump to stop him getting into power, and following the very suspicious way Epstein died (I suspect there were a lot of very high profile men who needed him dead), I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the Democratic Party are now pursuing Trump down another route…
