Well what can you pull off? Do you want to look nice so you can dance?

Alicia Silverstone on Clueless, Audrey Tatou in Amelie, or can you channel a Bond girl or a bit of Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Monroe.

Or you could go classic Western and pick Annie Get your Gun or Oklahoma! Costumes are fun and a talking point.

Bbq1 · 15/09/2024 20:24

One of the Blues brothers

Fescue · 15/09/2024 20:25

Charlie Chaplin
Sandy Olssonn
The Pink Panther (animated)

I have seen women dress up as both Chaplin and the Pink Panther and it was very effective. Need a lithe figure for the latter but perhaps more suitable for a private party.

As an hourglass size 14 I'm definitely pulling off anything lithe. Sounds amazing though!

I like the cowgirl idea a lot!

@DrLucyVanPelt I'm just about to watch Beetlejuice for the first time!

Enjoy! May give you some inspiration🖤!

Other ideas that have popped in:

Midsommar- folsky dress and flower crown

Princess Leia (white dress rather than Bikini maybe!)

Bonnie (of and Clyde)

Sally Bowles (pos not PG depending)

Love a bit of fancy dress!

Georgethat · 15/09/2024 20:54

I like the Barbie idea as there’s loads of barbie options!

You could channel your inner Marylin Monroe. Body con dress with heels and a blonde wig or if you can find a copy of the famous subway dress ( the one that ballooned up when she stood on the subway ventilation shaft grate).

JennaRink · 15/09/2024 21:03

^definitely not pulling off I meant!

Strictly contestant - sparkly dress, high heels, exaggerated makeup and hair and a ping pong bat thing with the score on it - 10 of course

frozendaisy · 15/09/2024 21:10

Queen of Hearts ,- Alice in Wonderland

MagicianMoth · 15/09/2024 21:10

I’d love to go as Sarah from Labyrinth in her huge ball dress but Sarah from Labyrinth in her jeans and waistcoat would also be fantastic as it was basically what I used to wear in the early 90s. Nostalgia.

Otherwise - Sandy from Grease, Baby from Dirty Dancing, Katniss Everdeen.

Also maybe Marie Antoinette or someone else from that kind of era if I go full dress up...

The obvious answer for me (as its my favourite Christmas film) is Kevin from Home Alone.
I'd wear a HA Christmas jumper (with the slogan Merry Christmas ya Filthy Animals), jeans, boots and, if you can manage, short blonde hair!
I hate dressing up, but I could manage this.

JennaRink · 15/09/2024 21:35

@ghostbusters I have a confession to make.

I've never seen Home Alone...

What!?! I love it mostly because we watched it every year as a youngster so it brings me happy memories 😊 It's not everyone's cup of tea, and that's ok.
