Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. Dd1's getting ready for work - she needs to leave for her bus about now, and the kittens are bounding their way around between up and downstairs.

I'm getting up to make a coffee and put the washer on in a minute.

We don't have much planned for the day really. I want to list a couple more things on Vinted, do some washing, and get my Christmas lists in order. If I have time, I'll soak off my acrylics too - I don't often have my nails done but have had them over summer for a few events. & I might organise some more beads to tidy them up, before we make a few for Gracie Abrams in March.

Not sure what's for tea yet. Dd1 gets a meal at work & came back with a second one last night, so probably something along the lines of bangers & mash with onion gravy 😋

Tonight it's Self care Sunday - scrubby everything shower, hair mask (very generous sample from Lush yesterday when I bought my shampoo bar!), shave. And then chill with my book for a while before early to bed, ready for the coming week 💤💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Ive just woken up from a 10 hour sleep. Bliss!

Very autumnal here in snowdonia. cuppa and toast, potter, then gonna make a chicken dinner and rice pudding in the slow cooker.

FortunataTagnips · 15/09/2024 09:28

Morning! Just finishing up breakfast here. DD is raring to go, so I’ll have a quick wash and then we’ll head for the park.
Homemade pizza and salad for lunch, then we’re supposed to be visiting some friends this afternoon, but I might see if they want to come round here instead - DD’s a bit of a mare in other people’s houses at the moment.
Probably sandwiches or cheese and crackers for supper, then some meditation and Murdle (not at the same time).

JMAngel1 · 15/09/2024 09:29

Morning @lucysmam and everyone.
Hopefully a lazy day here - it is pouring down with rain so may enable me a Home Day which I am not mad at! There had been plans for a long walk but there’s no way DDs would be coaxed out in this weather so I may get to stay on cosies all day 😁
I have home chores though - bed sheets to be changed, 5 loads of washing to put away.
My Dad will probably pop over for a cuppa at some point so I may bake some cookies.
I do need to sort out my desk as it is in an appalling shape. Also have to parcel up some returns.
Chicken roast probably - may copy you later @lucysmam and have a pamper in the bath with my book. I could do with a good scrub too as I have quite a few layers of gradual tan on that are looking a little murky/patchy.

UnimaginableWindBird · 15/09/2024 09:30

I've had a lie-in this morning after two days celebrating DH's birthday. Today I'm planning to recover the house, buy a hot water bottle, go for an initial session with an organisation I want to volunteer for, cook an autumnal dinner (pork and sage hotpot, baked custard and ginger plums), book some train tickets for university open days and have a nice long bath.

I have had a ten hour sleep too! It was indeed bliss.

I could really do with a rice pudding recipe of yours would like to share. My parents are coming over later I haven't made rice pudding before!

familyissues12345 · 15/09/2024 09:33

Very little thankfully! Busy day yesterday, followed by a night out with friends. I need to recover Grin

So just catching up on the washing this morning, crappy tv this afternoon. We've even bought ourselves an easy tea (pizzas) so we don't have to cook either!

Crunchymum · 15/09/2024 09:33

Good morning all.

Love the idea of self care Sunday.

Older two children had an impromptu sleepover last night. DP will head off to collect them on a few hours (they are with his brother and SIL and cousins) and they plan to watch the Tottenham v Arsenal game / have some lunch before coming home - come on you Gooners 😉

Myself and little one (who isn't little at all anymore, she's 6!) are having a lazy morning. Shopping should be here soon, we then need to nip out and collect something from Argos. I think we'll have an hour in the park before lunch as it looks like another sunny day.

This afternoon I'm meeting friends for walk (they have young kids too so it will be a slow walk!).

This evening it will be leftover lasagne / pasta bake (not enough lasagne to go round) with garlic bread and salad.

Need to fit in some ironing and the kids all have homework to do!!

OhshutupBarry · 15/09/2024 09:33

Morning. Well it's my very first morning totally alone. Dropped DS to Uni yesterday and DD went back a few weeks ago. I am now an official empty nester, it feels strange like the end of an era. DP and I are ripping my kitchen out as having a new one fitted soon so lots of DIY today with a cottage pie for lunch. Have lovely day all x

Olika · 15/09/2024 09:33

Morning! I have already been to the gym after 3 days sick and took a shower so now I can just spend the rest of the day with my toddler and take a nap when she is. Need to look for some missing toys but not sure where else to look for them. I need to figure out what to offer her for lunch as she is fussy after having a cold. Planning on making a chicken Caesar bagel for myself to avoid getting them from a nearby bakery every week. My current obsession.

MinnieMountain · 15/09/2024 09:34

I woke up stupidly early, so I’m feeling fuzzy. Currently half-watching a film and having breakfast. DH is at the gym. DS is at MIL’s.

The PILs are coming over later for FIL’s birthday. We’re having steak and chocolate cake.

Then we’ll have a walk to the pub.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 15/09/2024 09:34

Good morning, it’s a gloriously sunny autumn morning here.
I am giving the living room a thoroughly good clean and tidy now that I cleared out the contents of the that have been cluttering it up for the whole summer 😡
I’m organising my needlework bits as I go along.
The washing machine is on with the dog’s blankets, they’ll dry nicely on the line, DH is taking her out for a very long walk in a bit so peace and quiet here.
Toad in the hole for dinner with onion gravy and green veg, homemade bread and butter pudding for afters.
I hope you all have a good day 🌻

thirdistheonewiththehairychest · 15/09/2024 09:39

I'm very inspired by how intentional everyone is with their Sunday (even if you intend to potter about...it's still so intentional!)

We have church this morning and then home to get ready for the week - meal plan, shopping list, ironing, supervising homework, cleaning bathrooms...

Might try to watch the end of a film that I have been watching in installments with my 11yo over the weekend.

TheNoonBell · 15/09/2024 09:39

Good morning. Was up at the crack of dawn (05:30), read the papers, made DH a cup of tea in bed. Got showered and had a lovely full english at a local cafe.

DH is strimming the side field today and I will be cleaning the house in preparation for relative's visit next week. Later I will make fresh pasata from our home grown tomatoes and then make a spag bol.

Will pop down to the pub this evening for a bit of socialising then an early night to prepare myself for the madness of work next week.

MonsteraMama · 15/09/2024 09:41

Morning!

I'm sitting on my stairs trying to motivate myself to take the dogs out in the rain 🙃

Husband and daughter are going out kayaking of all things today so I've got the house to myself and nothing to do. I'm going to bake something, haven't decided what yet, then I may well do absolutely bugger all the rest of the day.

Hope everyone else has a nice Sunday!

UpUpUpU · 15/09/2024 09:43

I have been in an awful depressive slump the last week and today I am trying to pull myself out of it.
My son is at his dads this weekend so I’m going to go swimming and do some gardening and try and snap myself out of it.
I have had a lie in and now drinking a coffee and making a list.

Thislittlekitten · 15/09/2024 09:50

Morning all. Just had breakfast and sent DS off to his club.

Today will be a potter about and tidy day. So much needing done.

Dog will need a good walk later. Steak pie for tea and prepare for the week ahead!

Emily1583 · 15/09/2024 09:55

DH outside washing the cars. DS has his online maths tutorial at 10. Whilst he has his tutorial I'm gonna go up and give the bathroom a good scrub. This afternoon I'm meeting a friend for a walk whilst DH & DS watch the football. Pity them wasting such a beautiful sunny day sat inside watching TV.

FlorencenotRatchet · 15/09/2024 09:56

Morning @lucysmam and all happy Sunday.
Just back from a run. Treated myself to a pasty on the way home. I'm just finishing off final clothes washing for my holiday next week.
Off to a games afternoon later then dinner and holiday packing.
Enjoy your day everyone.

gardenmusic · 15/09/2024 09:59

Rearrange freezers this morning, pick some raspberries then lunch at a carvery.
I might just sit and read this afternoon.

Giggorata · 15/09/2024 10:06

Good morning lucysmam and all,
Every year, when our village mechanic goes away on holiday, someone's vehicle breaks down. It's uncanny.
This year, it's my van. A vast puddle of… something underneath. DH has put down some buckets and cardboard to soak it up. It's stopped dripping now, so we think it's brake fluid, rather than the full tank of diesel, but either way, I'm grounded for a week. 🙁

So we're not taking stuff to the storage unit or dropping off a chest of drawers at my friend's, as planned.
(DH's van is used for transporting dogs and for his rural hobbies and retirement job, so it's full of dog stuff, traps, equipment, old coats and hats, wellies, mud, etc and is only used as a last resort)
Luckily, I haven't got any weddings this week, just a hospital appointment tomorrow.

I shall spend the rest of the day pottering about the house instead.
For dinner, I will make a Mumsnet massive salad with the cheese and caramelised onion with balsamic vinegar quiche from Lidl, which we are keen on. We have strawberries and ice cream for pudding.
Could be worse.

mondaytosunday · 15/09/2024 10:10

Morning. Had a cup of coffee (only enough milk for one tea so generously have left that for my visiting son and had coffee with cream instead). He goes back to his home today and I'll probably drive him to the ferry (about an hour and a half away) about 2ish.
So need to get up showered give our older dog his first three pills of eight he takes daily now - we will be putting him to sleep this week. Poor thing has gone way downhill in the last month and now seems to have trouble getting up, tries and then whimpers. The vet thinks he has cancer and he's become very weak. He's 15 so too old to operate.
But today the sun is out and my son will try and coax him for a little walk. He's ok once up, a bit stiff legged.
Other than that my son will help with a couple chores that need 21 year old strength and dexterity! DD will not make an appearance til later today. Pork with pepper sauce for dinner then probably second half of Emily in Paris. @OhshutupBarry that will be me soon as DD heads to uni end of the month!

Nastyaa · 15/09/2024 10:16

I love this post!

Me & DD are full of a cold. Currently watching the cup head show on Netflix.
On my second cuppa of the day. I need to order a 3d sleep mask as got my lashes done yesterday.

I also need to list more items on vinted, I have a beautiful leotard from miss Selfridge size 14 if anyones interested.

Need to shave from the eyebrows down, fake tan, do my eyebrows & pop some false nails on before work tomorrow.

Car boot sale is on later & im adamant we are going despite feeling a bit crap.

It's also bed change day, I'll have a hoover and polish around. Make DD's lunch for tomorrow & get clothes ready for the morning.

Happy Sunday everyone :)

Stirmish · 15/09/2024 10:19

Morning everyone

I've had a cup of tea

Booked some uni open days for DD

Hung some washing up outside. It's quite nice today and the sun is out

I've had a restless night so feeling tired

Can't decide what to bake using my apples that's not a crumble or tarte tatin

Need to put stuff up in the loft and see what I can clear out of it.

Will pop to Lidl later to check out the middle aisle for things DS could use at uni

RabbitsRock · 15/09/2024 10:33

Good morning lucysmam & everyone. Always my favourite thread of the week. Missed it yesterday. Still in bed but getting up in a min & need to ask DD15 if all the stuff she’s dumped on the landing/bannisters is to chuck. It looks worse than a jumblesale! Popping to an out of town shopping centre to look in M & S & Next for a baby outfit. My friend lives abroad but I can post it to her DM in the UK to take. I tried Asda the other day but it’s nowhere near as good as it used to be - very disappointing. Doing a mini roast for tea. Bought a buttered chicken breast joint yesterday & will do roast spuds, carrots, peas & gravy. I can’t remember the last time we had a roast. Watched The Voice last night so might catch up with Strictly, although DH isn’t keen.

FayKnights · 15/09/2024 11:10

Morning All
A pottering day here, there’s a bit of washing to do and a general tidy up, but nothing too strenuous. I may make a chicken and veg soup, it’s the one my MIL used to make, the boys call it Granny Soup and love it.
I love hearing everyone’s plans each weekend, it’s so wholesome.
Have a restful Sunday x
