I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. Dd1's getting ready for work - she needs to leave for her bus about now, and the kittens are bounding their way around between up and downstairs.

I'm getting up to make a coffee and put the washer on in a minute.

We don't have much planned for the day really. I want to list a couple more things on Vinted, do some washing, and get my Christmas lists in order. If I have time, I'll soak off my acrylics too - I don't often have my nails done but have had them over summer for a few events. & I might organise some more beads to tidy them up, before we make a few for Gracie Abrams in March.

Not sure what's for tea yet. Dd1 gets a meal at work & came back with a second one last night, so probably something along the lines of bangers & mash with onion gravy 😋

Tonight it's Self care Sunday - scrubby everything shower, hair mask (very generous sample from Lush yesterday when I bought my shampoo bar!), shave. And then chill with my book for a while before early to bed, ready for the coming week 💤💤

What about all of you? 🙂

I’m stuck under a snoring unwell 4 year old who is napping after being up coughing most of the night but we have a blanket and I have a coffee so it’s actually quite relaxing

Have a horrid headache so not doing the schoolwork I ought to be doing. Just made some pastry to make pizza pinwheels. Took DS to circus school in the morning and did the food shop. DD is at circus school now. OH is on the sofa with the TV playing annoying youtube videos that he's not watching because he's watching other videos on his phone...
DS is playing minecraft for 5 more minutes and then he has to do his homework and then go outside and pick up the rotten apples to put in the bin, and hopefully find some non-rotten non-bird/worm eaten ones to put in the fruit bowl.

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I have dgs1 here for a sleepover. I woke about two and didn't get back to sleep until after four then dgs1 got up at six. He's no bother but wants me to play with him. He's five so it's understandable. I had to change his bed-wee accident in the night - and the towels are on now. I've got a chilli on the slow cooker. We went to the local garden centre for breakfast and then we bought plants and other stuff I definitely don't need. I'll visit mum later. Enjoy your day.

Morning all, I'm just back from the beach hut and a dog walk. We've had breakfast and my teen has surfaced.. I have a boot full of camping gear that needs sorting and putting in the garage. Washing to do and weekly shop.. 🥴

Just doing the last bit of nesting before PFB arrives and chaos ensues!

Yesterday my plan for today was just to do the laundry.... Well that has changed! I got given a load of grapes from somebody's garden yesterday - not sweet enough to eat as grapes, so I am currently in the midst of making grape jelly. I have also peeled and cooked the apples we got from my daughter's garden yesterday and made some crumble topping. The cores and peelings from those apples, and some we had in the freezer, went in with the grapes for the pectin. Grape jelly won't set without pectin!

DH has just got back from Lidl where I sent him to get sugar (for the jelly). They had a 15% off offer today so that was good timing! The cooked grape pulp is currently dripping its juice into my jam pan, so I will probably boil it up tomorrow. I have pulled out my jam jars already and they will be going into the dishwasher as soon as it is emptied.

One load of washing is done and in the tumble dryer, the second is nearly finished. DH is keen to have lunch now so I'm off to see what goodies he got from Lidl for us to eat 😁

I'm a kids party being antisocial so that's why I'm on MN!

Good morning

We’re going tent shopping today, after our camper was written off we thought we would save most of the money rather than get a new one, so we’re going to tent camp instead now.

Nothing planned but that :)

I had a chat to DP early this morning - he's working away in Madrid atm. Went for a run and picked up a coffee afterwards. Going to watch the football this afternoon and then I'm going to the hairdressers and hoping to catch up with a friend when I'm out :)

MistyMoonlight · 15/09/2024 12:43

Afternoon everyone! A busy morning here as usual, doing the usual animals rounds and routines. DH has been chopping logs all morning and moving loads with the tractor, he's now having a well deserved rest whilst watching the F1. I stewed some apples for our inherited, very neglected orchard. DDog is waiting for the honey cake to come out of the oven, made with some of the honey from our hardworking bees. She's a proper honey monster, the nose is appreciating the smells coming from the oven!

An afternoon pottering about doing nothing in particular before the evening rounds need doing. I'm looking forward to a cup of tea in bed and an early night!
Hope you all have a good afternoon

I missed the thread yesterday for some reason.

Today has been busy so far. Went out on a village litter pick this morning which always finishes up with teas and coffees and bacon rolls. Was lovely and sunny which made it really nice.

Came back and made toast as I was still hungry. 🙄

Have just been out and took the covers off our outdoor furniture as we have had so much rain I thought the cushions underneath would be a bit damp. I wasn’t wrong. So they are now spread out around the garden to dry out and we will put them away properly later on once dry.

We are also gradually sorting out glasses and crockery and various ornaments etc that were packed away while we were getting some units built so now they need putting away properly.

I should do some cooking to use up some courgettes and corn and tomatoes and maybe see if there are any blackberries left to pick.

Roast chicken for dinner with all the trimmings. I could make apple and blackberry crumble maybe too.

Good afternoon!

It's been a slow day here so far. DH made us bacon bagels and cups of tea in bed, then he got up to clean and I am working, planning lessons for the week and marking homework. I've been going for nearly 2 hours now before escaping to MN for a bit! Going to finish marking by 1.30 and then go and cook.

I'm going to make some crepes for breakfast(s) tomorrow and pudding tonight, school dinner cake for lunches this week and maybe try to bake some bread (historically bad at this) to go with the soup we need to use up from the freezer.

Then we're having roast pork for dinner, and self care Sunday here too. DD and I will do face masks and watch the third Harry Potter (doing one a week since the first weekend in September, then we can do Halloween films, then.... Christmas)!

I love Sundays :)

I have had a ten hour sleep too! It was indeed bliss.

I could really do with a rice pudding recipe of yours would like to share. My parents are coming over later I haven't made rice pudding before!

Of course!

100g pudding rice
150g caster sugar
2pt full fat milk
large can of evaporated milk
sprinkle of nutmeg & cinnamon
big blob of butter

low in the SC for 6 hours

Good afternoon!

Today has been a lovely peaceful one. Woke early and had breakfast outside. It's starting to get really autumnal here and it was that lovely crisp sunlight. For a bit anyway, then it turned drizzly. Had homemade toast and eggs with a giant pot of tea, kids played and DH and I chatted.

Pottered this morning and did some batch cooking, then we had a nice sweet potato soup for lunch. DH took the kids out for a dog walk this afternoon while I did some writing.

They're back now so we're going to head out to my sister's for a bit. She's got some new chickens and the kids are desperate to meet them. DH is going to make Stekt Fisk (lovely Norwegian fish dish) for dinner, and then when the kids are in bed we've got a new boardgame to try out! Both of us are off work tomorrow so I might have a glass of wine, too.

CalicoPusscat · 15/09/2024 22:53

Today was a wipeout really. Bad night's sleep (again), then had a nice lunch and sat in the park eating my Eton mess when my stomach started to really hurt and I had a horrible upset when I got back, everything cleaned and washed down now.

Then watched a few episodes of 'mind of a criminal', walked to the shop and saw a framed photo I really like hasn't been sold so I'm hot hoofing it there at 9am when it opens tomorrow, and now have a lovely cup of tea. Ended up better than lunchtime.

Neverheather · 15/09/2024 23:45

@CalicoPusscat Hope you can get that framed photo tomorrow and it makes you happy, it sounds like you really deserve a nice treat!

CalicoPusscat · 16/09/2024 00:34

@Neverheather thank you! Shame I can't DM you a pic.

Unless someone has the same idea and gets there a few seconds before me...
