So many times the on screen persona doesn't match the behind closed doors one.

They do, but as long as you feed them (and do dozens of other things) they're generally nice.

Men never seem to be happy and always seem to have to take it out on someone, usually their wives/gf.

Animals are generally better than humans. Definitely better than men.

The BBC don’t seem to be terribly good at gauging men’s characters.

How so? Because it never has been. Justine has always said it's not and that Mumsnet was just the better name. It's not been a women's forum for the whole of the 22 years I've been here. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've also been here around 18 years and it's never been a 'womens forum'

I've seen him a lot on TV recently and I was surprised he was still on because I thought he'd left repair shop over what had happened with his marriage.
There were threads on here ages ago about him abusing his wife.

I guess they waited until he was charged but I would have thought the BBC would be more careful about who they have on the screens these days. Obviously not.

It's been said so many times over the years that this is a forum for everyone not just mums or women.
There are plenty of regular male posters.

Well, you would think he was OK, wouldn't you? That's exactly the character he was hired to play for the TV show.

Conversely, do you think that people who play villains on TV shows are always exactly like their characters? Because that's pretty much the same logic; he's a murderer on that show = he's got to be a wrong 'un.

Never liked him.

Mumsnet is just a generic name that suits the forum and is well established.

Women can be utter cunts in my experience. I've had way more problems with women than I've ever had with men. Women aren't some sort of perfect sex. We tend to be less violent as a sex than men but there are lots of other ways to be a cunt.

It's open season once someone gets charged. The question is only if the media choose to publish the names (like BBC and Huw Edwards saga).

You can't tell what people are like behind closed doors. I lost my husband recently and it was hard to hear all the gushing comments about what a lovely man he was; what a wonderful family man etc. It made me and the DDs realise he saved all his nastiness just for us. In truth he was emotionally, verbally and financially abusive.

I’m sure the guy who played Phil Mitchel in EastEnders got beaten up a couple of times because yes, people really are that stupid!
