What's for dinner tonight? Takeaway, out or cooking?

Happy Friday!

I'm making DIY egg fried rice with whatever is left in the fridge chucked in.

House to myself which is a treat, so trying to resist the very strong urge to get a takeaway for one.. as I have no self control and eyes bigger than my stomach!

What's everyone having? I need to be inspired for tomorrow..!

Goats cheese flatbread thing from Aldi. It's in the oven now. DH is out, so I might eat all of it... with some salad obviously.😂

Feeling like a shit wife reading the amazing things you lot knock up on a Friday night!

Don't worry - there are thousands not replaying to this thread who are having their Friday night McDonald's 🤣

Pizzas (stilton and caramelized apple, stilton and olive, prosciutto and olive), garlic bread and chocolate brownie.

Bluevelvetsofa · 13/09/2024 19:32

Fish goujons and oven chips. Lazy, because it’s been a bust day.

LittleGreenDuck · 13/09/2024 19:57

Baked sweet potatoes loaded with black beans, fajita seasoning, spring onions, garlic and cheese. Homemade guacamole on the side.

Smoking hot, honey glazed pork belly slices, cheesy mash, tenderstem Brocoli, corn on the cob and peas. Yummy

Alittlebitfluffy · 13/09/2024 20:56

So many great ideas! I am definitely taking note of some of these for another night.

Also it's Friday - anything goes! Depending on energy levels and battery left after a crazy week, I range from cooking something sexy from scratch to a slapdash bowl of oatmeal!

We've also been in the Friday = Takeaway rut for a while so trying to break out of it and find some new ideas!

I had cheese and crackers in front of a horror film because the teenagers are both out and DH has gone to bed #winning

Homemade fish pie with shallots, celery (needed to use it up) and peas topped with cheesy mash with salad (carrots, beetroot, cucumber and feta, olive oil) it was yum. Yesterday was a takeout can't be bothered type day though. We've had quite a few of those recently...

It’s not a wife thing is it, I’m sure some men posting and blokes can cook too.

Peridot1 · 13/09/2024 21:15

I’m married to a woman so there’s no blokes cooking in this house, I’m afraid!

I made some chicken curry and parathas for DH and I but by the time everything was ready I didn't feel like eating.
Super tired.

Made chicken korma for DC but they wanted pasta so boiled some and added the cooked chicken pieces to it with some ready pasta sauce. 😅 they loved it.

DelilahBucket · 13/09/2024 21:28

Freezer surprise for me and DS tonight. I had frozen two portions of some pasta dish but couldn't remember what it was. Turned out it was macaroni Bolognese and was very nice!

letmego24 · 13/09/2024 21:35

Fried Tofu red peppers and mushrooms in Tamari sauce with rice

Bugbeau · 13/09/2024 21:39

Everyone’s Friday night dinners sound fab! We had my mum, auntie, uncle and cousin over and had bread, cheese & meats, followed by paella and patatas bravas with cannoli to finish. It was yummy and a lot of fun. All gone home now and kids in bed so we can collapse in front of the tv!

teatoast8 · 13/09/2024 21:46

Chinese!

Tonight I got a (much needed) break.
DH made supper. I can count on one hand the number of times he's done that.
Somehow, some way, he made fresh cod, bread crumbed and fried, oven sweet potato fries from Frozen.
I made a green salad, that was my contribution to the feast.
My favorite fast food meal is pita pizzas.
A package of five pitas with homemade pizza sauce, ( SO EZ) and practically anything you have in the fridge as toppers, (leftover cooked vegetables, green peppers, cooked onions, tomatoes, a leftover sausage, bacon, you name it) sprinkled with grated bar cheese, bake for a few minutes, easy, filling, and good!
