Any converts from gas hob to induction?

We are upgrading our kitchen and I’m considering installing an induction hob , easier to clean and looks more modern. Any converts on here please? Opinions or tips on use and recommendations will be much appreciated. How hard was it to switch your cooking methods? I am aware I would need new pans. Thank you

Yes, I have to say, since switching to induction, I've had 4 different ones in 4 houses and haven't had any of those issues.

It's also funny that the surface got so hot @Parkmybentley. I can pull a boiling pot off the burner of mine and almost (but not quite) put my hand on it straight away. It sounds like there might have been something wrong with yours.

Agree. Induction hobs work by heating the pan. The hob shouldn't get hot. You should also be able to use a smaller pan than the ring being used as it is the pan rather than the hob that heats up.

I've had the lot, electric (traditional spiral rings), gas, electric with ceramic hob and now induction. Definitely would not go back to gas or other electric hobs. My gas cooker had brass burners which were hell to keep clean, the electric and ceramic hobs were ok, but took forever to heat up, even the ceramic one which had two halogen rings. The induction is, for me, the best of all worlds. As responsive as gas - our controls have numbers you can touch or slide. The hob is as easy if not easier to clean than even the ceramic hob. I love the fact I can join two 'rings' together for bigger pans or fish kettles, the timer is brilliant - no more boiled over pasta! And that apart from just a few minutes after cooking, the hob is never hot like my previous hobs. All in all I am very happy with it. Mine is John Lewis own brand.

Countless things have boiled over on my induction hob and nothing has ever welded to the surface?

If I'm worried, I just wipe it while it's still hot.

I quite often put a tea towel under a pan as Im a bugger for letting it boil over

Ours doesn't get massively hot, just the glass is warmed by the cooking pan, hence to silicon covers I use

Anyone had a zoneless induction? I have my eye on a Stoves range that has this, but can’t tell if just a gimmick.

They also do a zoned one in a choice of rotary or touch control, what would people recommend given the choice between those two control types?

Thanks to all who spoke about converting from gas hob to induction hob. Can I now ask which make/ model you have and would you recommend it? I am in UK.
thanks in advance

My induction hob is a zanussi. Model number according to the paper manual is ZITN 844 K.
