The largest herb is a banana, as it’s grown on a herbaceous plant, not a tree

Ants don’t have lungs.

The bestselling crime novelist, Ann Perry, committed a murder in her youth in New Zealand. She changed her name and moved to the UK after serving her sentence, but was eventually uncovered after she had already written several books. The whole story of the murder was told in Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures.

Mammoths were still roaming the earth at the time the Great Pyramids were built.

Just by looking at something, your brain knows what it will feel like if your tongue licks it.
Try it!

If there were plastic bags in Henry VIII's time, they would still exist today.

Cows have a best friend. They choose to sleep in the same stall together each night. The farmer does decide who sleeps with who.

Chickens have best friends too.

Chickens have a range of different clucks and chirrups to communication different meanings and it is possible to learn what they all mean. They are very good at recognizing different humans.

One of their favourite foods is egg - raw or cooked.

The average Cumulus cloud (the common one you drew at school) contains water equivalent in weight to about 15 of the largest African bull elephants. Four hundred tonnes.

The equivalent volume of air below is even denser. This is why clouds float. In fact this is why anything floats - boats, duckling, oil slicks.

I will blow your minds with something else later. 🙂Imagine if all of MN posters were in the same room together. Can you imagine that this room was once smaller than a grain of sand and we were all pressed up against each other?

Not outlandish or especially interesting but just found this out about 20 minutes ago watching TOTP from 1987 - that one half of Wax (Bridge to Your Heart) is Andrew Gold (Never Let Her Slip Away). I have both on vinyl singles but didn't know this! Very happy to know it as they are both much-loved songs for me.

The chocolate bar Twix gets its name from what it is ... Two Sticks (Stix) TWIX!

Fromage · 13/09/2024 19:33

Picture a pineapple growing on a pine tree, see it in your mind's eye, think of an advert for Caribbean holidays........ Pineapples do not grow on trees. They grow out of the ground, on a stalk.

The Mandela effect is when everyone remembers something and considers it a fact....only we're all wrong. Like the pineapple thing.

The Mandela effect is named after Nelson Mandela, because there was a time when loads of people "remembered" him dying in prison.

No matter how big a sheet of paper you start with, you can't fold it in half more than eight times.

I mean how in the fuck do people find this shit out. At what point would you have an exsanguinating patient and a jizzing fish in an operating theatre together.

What a time to be alive.

Arlanymor · 13/09/2024 19:38

Big cats (panthera) roar, little cats (felinae) purr.

Cheetahs can’t purr, so they are actually very large little cats.

I find this fact unbelievably cute.
