Why did Britney not raise her children?

Just wondering why she never brought her own kids up? Have they been with their dad since they were babies? Did she give them up or did they want to live with their dad?
Genuinely curious, I've not read her book. I know she has paid lots of maintenance for them and their dad sounds like a total waster to be honest, 6 children by 3 different women and doesn't work, just appears to live off her child maintenance from what the press are saying.
It's quite sad if she did give them up, but I don't know the details.

Surely a quick google will give you an abundance of info on this.

As far as I remember she lost custody after the public breakdowns with the shaved head and the umbrella in 2008.

Passionfruitpunch1 · 11/09/2024 20:37

Wow, that's so sad, they would have only been about aged 2 then

Bad mental health problems. She is gorgeous and talented and successful, but has had many demons. I think she still has a relationship with her sons, and they 'get' why she didn't raise them.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 11/09/2024 20:39

I think she was already quite unwell and not able to care for them properly. I might be misremembering

Passionfruitpunch1 · 11/09/2024 20:42

I don't know if I could forgive myself for that, I mean she was able to have a successful career and relationships, all the while, letting someone else raise her children from they are infants.

Why not just read her book? She explains it all.

Candyfloss99 · 11/09/2024 20:43

And no she didn't "give them up" at all.

Burntout101 · 11/09/2024 20:43

Her autobiography gives her version of this. It's heartbreaking. I'm sure there are other points of view too.

BarbaraHoward · 11/09/2024 20:44

She's been very seriously unwell for, what, 20 years or not far off it anyway.

It's very sad and I can't imagine things have been easy for her sons, but there's nothing she needs to "forgive herself" for. Confused

SonicTheHodgeheg · 11/09/2024 20:44

I’d imagine that being in a conservatorship doesn’t allow raising kids tbh

Yellowbananasarebetterthangreen · 11/09/2024 20:44

You have the internet........ the answer to your question is readily available online.

Jazzabel · 11/09/2024 20:47

Her career was successful, but she was not the one making decisions on it and I don’t know how you can think she had successful relationships.

She’s been very unwell for a very long time and seems like she was surrounded by people who didn’t have her best interests in mind and didn’t look after her properly.

Firefly1987 · 11/09/2024 20:47

She is/was seriously unwell, I've heard bi-polar but I don't think anyone really knows. But she was hounded relentlessly by paps so I'm not really surprised her MH was severely affected.

In her book and in a documentary it is clear that her career was forced upon her by her dad, who dictated how she spent her time. He had control over how often she saw her children. She was heartbroken when she lost custody of them.

That is so judgemental. If her her mental health was so bad she had to give her kids up then she was obviously very lll. Did you make this post up just to stick the boot In. Have you heard of be kind

That's an awful comment.

Wow!
how ignorant of you.
Very clearly showing the real reason you started this thread.
So you can pile on her

You have no idea what she’s been through.
i see a victim of abuse since she was a very young child. Be careful of judging others…

Silentfriend · 11/09/2024 21:08

@DinaofCloud9

Spot on, she's really not. Just posting a thread to make herself feel better and put
put down a damaged celebrity tbh.

Tell me you know fuck-all about struggling with severe mental health problems and depression - without telling me you know fuck-all about struggling with severe mental health problems and depression.

Fucking nasty comment. Shame on you @Passionfruitpunch1

.

pistachiosanscream · 11/09/2024 21:12

It’s pretty straightforward. She lost custody due to her public mental health struggles. She was then placed under a conservatorship which meant she didn’t have the legal rights to challenge her ex for custody. It’s like something that would happen in the Victorian era

DojaPhat · 11/09/2024 21:15

She didn't have good people around her. Nothing drives someone to insanity more than your core group relentlessly ensuring you appear mad. The conservatorship, the loss of her kids, her breakdown - she didn't go down the wrong path so much as she was steamrolled into it.

Mozzarellaballs · 11/09/2024 21:17

She wasn't allowed any say in the matter, her family and ex controlled her and her kids were taken, she couldn't even get changed without somebody watching her and she was forced on certain birth control. I have read her book and heard her court clips

DojaPhat · 11/09/2024 21:17

A lot of people made extraordinary amounts of money from her downfall while ostensibly protecting her from her so-called demons. Britney's story is truly a tragedy.

AskZoltar · 11/09/2024 21:20

Did it make you feel better to punch down on a woman whose whole life has been controlled by men, to the extent that her mental health was destroyed and she lost her children?

Silentfriend · 11/09/2024 21:24

The custody arrangement for Britney's children is quite complex. After she divorced from KF, their children primarily lived with him due to legal decisions. Britney has not "given up" her children, but the custody situation has been influenced by various personal and legal factors.

KF has been the primary caregiver since they separated, and Britney has provided child support as part of their custody agreement. The way KF is portrayed in media is mixed, but child support payments are a standard part of custody arrangements and don't necessarily reflect Britney's overall character or life circumstances.

You might find it helpful to actually read her book to understand the full context of her parenting situation.
