And are you on a meter?
How many family members etc...

I'm one adult, 2 primary dc.
No shower but we share baths. Not every day
4-5 loads of washing a week.

Not on a meter.
£74 a month.

£69.91 (don't pay in winter months though). Mainly just the two of us, but DD and BF stay approx one night a week.

I checked with water board before we had DD and was told we wouldn't save any money with a water meter. On same rates grade as in previous house, so continued paying monthly.

TidalShore · 11/09/2024 13:55

If you're not on a meter it doesn't matter how many baths, showers or wash loads you do. It's based on the size of your house.

I'm on a meter, just me and my potted plants. £22 a month. Would probably be a fair bit less if I had room for a water butt!! :)

MissRainbowBrite · 11/09/2024 14:03

Water meter here and £26 a month.
We're a family of 4 in a 4 bed detached with daily showers for all, dishwasher most days, 5-6 loads of washing a week and other bits like car washing and watering the bedding plants.

Metered.
3 bedroom mid terrace.
2 adults, 3 teens and one primary age child.
Daily showers for majority, couple of baths weekly.
At least one load of washing daily.
10ft pool in summer to fill every two weeks (so three times over the summer)
£47 per month.
I'm happy with that!

wonderingwhatsnext · 11/09/2024 14:12

£60 a month, metered. 3 bed semi, 4 adults, only showers, no bath. We are not wasteful.

FuzzyPuffling · 11/09/2024 14:16

Around £35 per month, metered. Two of us, extremely cautious with water - water butts, run off collection, careful loo flushing, DH showers at the gym...
We're in a water- expensive area though. I wish I knew how to reduce the bill further.

Pandapandapandapandapanda · 11/09/2024 14:18

When DC at home 1 or 2 showers a day 4 adults and loads of laundry £110.00.

When DC at Uni 2 adults only £60 a month.

We live in a high cost water area.

Howdull · 11/09/2024 14:19

It should roughly cost £150 per person per year for water.

KimFan · 11/09/2024 14:20

3 bed, 2 occupants, no meter: Dishwasher on once a day, two showers daily, weekly baths, and 3 wash loads a week = £53.90 per month.

bridesmaid1024 · 11/09/2024 14:22

We are still cheaper on a meter than not for our area and house size.

We do use far too much water and I am trying to cut it down.

We use the same when we live abroad 6 months of the year but it is much cheaper abroad.

ObliviousCoalmine · 11/09/2024 14:32

Water meter.

£26.50 a month. Daughter and I in the week, partner plus two step children at weekends.

I've a water butt for the garden, low flow toilets, a whatever the word is efficient shower and use a dishwasher that uses a small amount of water.

NoWordForFluffy · 11/09/2024 14:33

Howdull · 11/09/2024 14:19

It should roughly cost £150 per person per year for water.

Surely that depends on the cost of water in your area?

We're a family of 4 and use about 350 litres a month. It costs around £51-ish per month.

Shodan · 11/09/2024 14:37

This last year, £43.75 a month.

Metred, 3 bed semi-detached, 2 adults (sometimes 3 or even 4) and one teen in the house. At least one load of washing a day, showers, baths, dishwasher.

And I've been building an extension and renovating the garden, so extra water usage for various things.

OldTinHat · 11/09/2024 14:39

On a meter, just me, £11.98 a month.

Howdull · 11/09/2024 14:19

It's over double that for me! £327 and I'm under the average usage for one person
I use 129 litres a day, average usage 149 for 1 person

Reallybadidea · 11/09/2024 14:42

Water prices vary quite a bit in different areas of the country so what other people are paying may not be very informative to yor situation. As a rule of thumb, if you have fewer people in your household than bedrooms then you are probably better off on a meter.

If you get a meter fitted then you can normally choose to go back to paying a fixed amount within the first two years of changing.

GirlMumGabby · 11/09/2024 14:44

My water and sewerage bill are combined at £40 a month on smart meter. 2 adults and a 4 year old. We all shower every day, use the dishwasher/washing machine 4-5 times a week.

Minikievs · 11/09/2024 14:46

Not on a meter, 4 bed house (but actually 3 bed with a garage conversion)
1 adult 1 teen 1 primary school
Dishwasher every two days
Washing machine every 3 days
Two showers a day minimum

£49 pm

I put it into one of those meter calculators once and it came up as more so I'm sticking with the rates

NDandMe · 11/09/2024 14:47

£32 per month. This is a reduced rate due to having a disabled child at home.
