Happy to see Princess Kate doing so well, but...

I'm really glad to see Kate doing so well, and I am glad she has finished chemo looking so healthy and happy. However my sister and I cannot stop laughing at the video Kensington Palace have just released.

We think the video has a striking resemblance to the Twilight films, only warm toned and shorter.

Narration - check
Holding hands while lying down in a meadow - check
Tree climbing - check
Stacks of logs - check
Dramatic sweeping shots of trees - check

I was waiting for William to say something really cringy while giving Kate a piggy back ride.

It reminded me of those montages they put together for Eurovision.

Agreed 😂

I'm assuming, by the way, that the log pile was properly secured and was actually a fabulous piece of play equipment. Not sure about the hay bale-that wasn't really actively dangerous, just bad country etiquette. Forgivable in the circumstances.....

KnickerlessParsons · 12/09/2024 16:20

I worried about that log pile too!

Do people genuinely think there'd be a Revolution? Blimey. What form would it take? And surely William has enough personal wealth to live an extremely comfortable life as a private citizen?

I bet he’d burn through his private wealth pretty fast if the family had to pay for the houses, upkeep, furnishings, utilities, food, cooks, cleaners, serving staff, dressers, nannies, clothes, private flights, private healthcare, and all the rest themselves.

As Harry’s discovering.

Yes they would. They'd still need security which as Harry's found out the state won't pay for and isn't cheap.

Although surely they must have a fair chunk of their private wealth invested in businesses that will be self generating.
The Queen was one of the world's richest women was she not?

I imagine they must be anticipating the day the monarchy no longer exists. Whither it fall in 30 years or 130 years.

I’m sure they were props . The whole thing was a photo shoot.

DramaLlamaBangBang · 12/09/2024 17:11

Yes George looks a nice boy but sometimes at official engagements his expression looks a bit a bit dismayed and kind of “what even happened that I’m having to do this?” Charlotte looks like a chip off the late Queen’s block . Louis … that could be wild ride, but fun perhaps?
I am a bit uncomfortable about the narrative being peddled about these children already to make them out to be ' the shy one ' ' the cheeky one' ' the one like Princess Anne' Especially Louis. And it's not just the press. William plays up to it with the ' cheeky Louis misbehaving'. He's 6. It just goes to show that ultimately it's the Royal soap opera that matters, above all else.

4andup · 12/09/2024 18:33

ITV news a woman is talking about her cancer treatment and if they caught it earlier she wouldn't needed chemo.

4andup · 12/09/2024 18:34

They are talking about the NHS.

Misfitmissy · 12/09/2024 19:06

The timing of the video is unfortunate with the publication of the report into the dire situation of the NHS today.

I hadn’t thought of a log-pile style piece of play equipment but I think you have in that thought a successful business model for a certain sector of the market ! 😆 I can definitely think of a few independent schools who would get one and feature it heavily in the “ our woodland playground” part of their prospectus. ETA you should patent it fast!

Well they do kind of come across that way - and as you say their parents kind of confirm it. I guess it makes them seem individuals not articles of Crown ownership.

CurlewKate · 12/09/2024 19:29

I've been told off before about this-but George has the look of an anxious child to me.

Remember we only see George (and Co) on formal occasions when he's expected to be on his best behavior.

We don't see him running around carefree with his pals. We have no idea what he is really like.

You realise he doesn't have half of that right? His personal wealth is higher his ability to make money is higher than Harry's also

The state will pay for if there is a risk which is why harry gets it when he visits what the state won't do is pay for it overseas

Are you sure?

I thought that was part of Harry's argument why he wouldn't bring his wife and kids back, he's no longer a working royal so so longer entitled to state protection.

Thisoldheartofmine · 12/09/2024 20:11

Google says
. They are no longer entitled to have security provided by any country, they have to make their own arrangements
Harry appealed this but lost.

That's what I thought.
He didn't think they'd remove his protection but it was outwith Daddy and Granny's hands.

What half of that doesn’t he have? Do you reckon he’s routinely doing the kids’ tea and cleaning his own loos?

“Kate, have you any whites you want washed while I’m getting this load on?”

I remember catching him on the news a few years ago and he was on about enjoying a takeaway curry and the interviewer said something like do you go out and get it and he responded with no someone does it for us - hard old life!

Tumblingjungleofchaos · 12/09/2024 22:17

@Lizzie67384 I imagine having the future King in the local kebab shop at pub kicking out time might be a bit of a security nightmare Grin
