Does anyone else get similar vibes?

Not at all accurate and no.

Sparrowsname · 09/09/2024 06:09

No, not similar 😆

Sparklfairy · 09/09/2024 06:11

Its a telenovela style, which are the Latin American soaps, so in that sense I guess so? But true soaps run for years and don't have seasons.

I miss desperate housewives Sad

Who says that? Someone who hasn't seen either or both of them, they have nothing in common

US soaps have seasons, E.g.Dallas, Dynasty, Knots Landing, Falcon Crest etc.
Desperate Housewives is nothing like Coronation Street.

Absolutely not 😂 love it though.

God no. Miles apart. DH is pure guilty pleasure fantasy. CS is much more realistic.

Coronation Street is not realistic at all. Over the top doom and gloom. I agree it's nothing like Desperate Housewives though.

God no. Who is the Corrie equivalent of Jessie the pool boy? Chesney?😁

LynetteScavo · 09/09/2024 07:15

I cant see any similarities apart from they are both based on the residents of a road. They are two very different things!

twentysevendresses · 09/09/2024 07:46

No 🤷‍♀️

lindaandrews · 09/09/2024 08:23

Perhaps Desperate Housewives is realistic to wealthy Americans.

That's not a soap. Soaps in the US are on daily and broadcast during the day. I've never seen Desperate Housewives but isn't it more a comedy drama?

Even if it was why would that make it like Coronation Street?

Katiesaidthat · 09/09/2024 10:45

I have watched Desperate Housewives and wouldn´t watch Coronation Street if you paid me. Totally different products.

So Dallas wasn't a soap?

Of course it wasn't, is that a serious question?

DreamW3aver · 09/09/2024 18:46

Technically it was. It's not what Brits would consider a soap but yes, Dallas and Dynasty etc were soaps.

I have to say though that I've watched both the originals and reboots of both. The reboots are definitely not soaps, but times have moved on.

Are you joking or just merely confused? What was it then? A sitcom? A quiz show? A documentary?
You'll probably argue that Peyton Place, Dynasty, Knots Landing etc weren't soaps either. 🤣

Housewife2010 · 09/09/2024 19:16

Not a soap? 🤣

No. Not even remotely the same. Have you ever seen either programme @lindaandrews ?

Suffering is a big part of life for a great many people, so I don't see how that's unrealistic. Maybe the real problem is that it's too realistic and reminds people of how common suffering is, which they don't want to think about while watching TV?
I don't watch it for that reason, because TV is an escape for me, except when I watch the news or documentaries.

Of course people suffer in real life. But it's over the top, crazy levels on soaps. I used to enjoy watching Corrie but the storylines were getting too ridiculous for me.

Dallas was indeed a nighttime soap opera. The greatest soap of all time IMO.
You're probably thinking because it played at night it was not a soap.

coxesorangepippin · 11/09/2024 21:50

I don't think so.

I'd say Rosanna is more similar
