Holiday from hell..what to do

Started our holiday last Tuesday to Spain. Book into hotel, not as described (4*) but okay we can cope. 3 days into holiday I'm woke by dripping noises go outside of the 11th floor to find water flooding from above floor, tried to call reception - no phone line. Run down to let them know and they were complete unbothered. I go back up to rest of family and by now electrics hanging down and sparking, tiles dropping and water up to shin. Myself, DH and 2 young children grab cases and passports and leave, dragging down 11 flights of stairs, alarms going off. Manic. Still no staff to be seen. In reception for 4 hours and at 4:20am offered another room on low floor with only 3 beds, there are 4 of us. We accept as nothing else. We had no water, air con, balcony or flushing toilet. Reception had no bottles of water to offer, even though we are all inclusive.

Morning we move to a hotel around 10 miles away in the middle of nowhere where, we can't get to the beach or shops and more importantly family who were staying in hotel next door. Completely ruined our plans

I have emailed or travel agent but had no reply. And idea what else I can do. I have videos of the flood and electrics hanging down.

It's Sunday. I'm sure the agent will help you tomorrow, is there a local rep who might be working today?

IGotAQUestion · 08/09/2024 16:08

There is no one around the the hotel staff don't speak very good English.

We are on the new hotel now which is fine but it's not what we booked. We are in the middle of no where with no beach, family near our old hotel. We were supposed to be meeting them for dinner and even g

All sounds pretty rough but for now I’d just get taxis to go and see your family, keep receipts and hopefully you’ll get compensation when you get home. If you’re on a package holiday there will be a rep you can speak to. Def tomorrow if not today

AlohaRose · 08/09/2024 16:12

Which holiday company? Do they have local representatives? Where in Spain are you that the hotel staff in a holiday resort do not have any decent English speakers between them? Why has it been necessary to move you to a hotel so far away? – is this a sister hotel to the one you were originally staying or is it just a place where they found you accommodation?

Justsayit123 · 08/09/2024 16:18

if you booked with agent, they must have an emergency number….

hope you took photos for evidence

IGotAQUestion · 08/09/2024 16:19

It's a sister hotel. It was booked as a package through easyJet. Reception are just saying there is nothing they can do

Contact Easyjet urgently.

Is it a leak or theweather? I know Spain has had some pretty crazy rainstorms the last few days.

TeenLifeMum · 08/09/2024 16:46

EasyJet has a chat function on the app and they’re usually very good.

There was no alternative. We had no room, ours was flooded, we had to leave some belongings as they were ruined and they had no other rooms for us. We had been sat in reception most of the night. We've had no sleep. We were told to listen out of water in the temp room they put us in. It has been a scary experience and kids want to go home

Apparently it was the air con but hotel staff were not telling us much

There's no point emailing. You need to speak to someone

hurlyburlywhirly · 08/09/2024 17:14

Have you got travel insurance?

countrysidelife2024 · 08/09/2024 17:19

all i can say is thank god you booked through an agent

PenelopePitStrop · 08/09/2024 17:20

All that sounds horrendous.

I hope you can speak to someone on the EasyJet number posted above.

Fingers crossed that this is sorted for you very quickly .

SmudgeButt · 08/09/2024 17:56

Call your travel insurance?

CalicoPusscat · 08/09/2024 18:01

That does sound awful, sorry.

Hope you get through to someone ASAP

IGotAQUestion · 08/09/2024 18:04

Yes we have travel insurance.

I feel like I can't phone the urgent helpline as we are safe now in new hotel but we're stuck here away from family, children upset, hotel is completely different to what we booked in other hotel.

I would absolutely call the urgent helpline, based on your description of events.
