Holiday from hell..what to do

Started our holiday last Tuesday to Spain. Book into hotel, not as described (4*) but okay we can cope. 3 days into holiday I'm woke by dripping noises go outside of the 11th floor to find water flooding from above floor, tried to call reception - no phone line. Run down to let them know and they were complete unbothered. I go back up to rest of family and by now electrics hanging down and sparking, tiles dropping and water up to shin. Myself, DH and 2 young children grab cases and passports and leave, dragging down 11 flights of stairs, alarms going off. Manic. Still no staff to be seen. In reception for 4 hours and at 4:20am offered another room on low floor with only 3 beds, there are 4 of us. We accept as nothing else. We had no water, air con, balcony or flushing toilet. Reception had no bottles of water to offer, even though we are all inclusive.

Morning we move to a hotel around 10 miles away in the middle of nowhere where, we can't get to the beach or shops and more importantly family who were staying in hotel next door. Completely ruined our plans

I have emailed or travel agent but had no reply. And idea what else I can do. I have videos of the flood and electrics hanging down.

Yes we have travel insurance.

I feel like I can't phone the urgent helpline as we are safe now in new hotel but we're stuck here away from family, children upset, hotel is completely different to what we booked in other hotel.

Call the helpline. That's what they are there for and it's probably the only way you will get help whilst in resort.

If you don't report it now and give them EasyJet a chance to put it right they will be less sympathetic when you are home. It's a pain but they may be able to move you to a hotel closer to where you were or confirm that you can claim for taxis to get to family, the beach etc.

Phone the helpline

You have to be seen to do everything you can to solve issues while they are happening

It's no good putting up with a shit holiday because you don't want to cause a fuss and then complain when you're gone - they'll think you're putting it on and tell you to jog on

This is awful for you all

Ring your insurance company explain what has happened and find out what your insurance will cover, easier hearing it from them than trying to read paperwork. Keep all your receipts and lots of photos and definitely videos .

Ring your travel agent, it doesn't matter that you are in a nice hotel, it's not what you booked. The hotel can only put you in a sister hotel, they don't have the authority to put you in someone else's hotel. Them only do this if there is no sister hotel. Tell your travel agent what's happened they will have other hotels on their books that they can put you into, if they have a rep they'll get them over to you, you need to tell everyone everything while it's happening.

Best of luck

It's not an urgent helpline. It's just a helpline that's open 24/7 as holidays are ongoing 24/7.

Of course you should ring them. If it's not bad enough to get in touch with them, it's not bad enough to warrant getting your money back.

Which holiday company? Do they have local representatives? Where in Spain are you that the hotel staff in a holiday resort do not have any decent English speakers between them? Why has it been necessary to move you to a hotel so far away? – is this a sister hotel to the one you were originally staying or is it just a place where they found you accommodation?

In cases of problems you’ll find some hotel staff lose the ability to speak any foreign language.

Holiday from hell but you don't want to contact anyone to help you.
The phone line doesn't mention emergency or urgent. It's a helpline

Thanks everyone. Managed to get through to them and they are supposed to be calling back, nothing as yet. They offered £100 vpucher compensation but to be honest I never want to come on holiday again.
