I have a 5 hour drive next week which I'm dreading. I know the radio will get repetitive, so was thinking is listening to a podcast. Does anyone have any good suggestions? Not even sure what topic! I'm early 40s.

The rest is politics. American specials are good

Have a look at Terribly Famous and also British Scandal. They're by Wondery but are available on most streaming services. There's a few series in each. I like both. They cover things like Oasis, the Canoe Man, Katie Price. I'm a similar age and really like them!

I found West Cork very absorbing for a 3hr trip I did . It's a true crime podcast . You may have heard it though as it's pretty old now

Normal Gossip. It's absolutely hilarious and very absorbing.

The OG classic is This American Life. 3 parts in each episode on a linked theme - even if it doesn't sound interesting at first, they're normally great.

Criminal is really good it’s not your average true crime stuff but it’s all related to crime. The stories are fascinating and the host has a lovely voice.

I could listen to her read the phone book.

I was going to recommend this!

Alternatively there is Shedunnit if you like old fashioned murder mysteries. She talks about the background to them, real crimes from the past, the writers' lives etc.

This week's episodes on Henry V have been brilliant!

Suzi Ruffle and Tom Allen - Like Minded Friends

They are old buddies and I love listening in on their easy and affectionate banter. They are so funny but it’s their gentle love for each other and they genuine happiness for each others victories that makes their pod so great to listen to

If you like true crime, Redhanded is good. Heretics by Andrew Gold is good for lighthearted but interesting alternative interviews
