I have a 5 hour drive next week which I'm dreading. I know the radio will get repetitive, so was thinking is listening to a podcast. Does anyone have any good suggestions? Not even sure what topic! I'm early 40s.

Do you enjoy True crime? Violent murders or the awful history and deaths as a result of everyday products like nonstick saucepans?

Or perhaps more of a lovely romantic story?

Would be useful to know what you're into

I'm open to anything really. Have started reading things about menopause as I'm approaching that age 😂
The journey is mostly on new roads for me, so still need to be able to concentrate. But I'm pretty open to anything really if someone says something is really good.

Actually, probably not anything soppy romantic. I'm not really into girly films etc so probably wouldn't enjoy listening to it

The Rest Is History Titanic series. Really interesting. They have other series that have been great too - Kennedy, Lord Byron, The Rise of Hitler, The fall of Marie Antoinette.

Richard Herrings Leicester Square Theatre Podcast (RHLSTP). He may not be your cup of tea but he’s done hundreds of interviews so you’ll find someone you like on there. He’s quite sweary and can pretty vulgar though.

For pure ‘doesn’t matter if you miss a chunk’ I’d recommend 3 bean salad. Hilarious, silly, and you won’t remember what they’ve talked about.

'Off menu' is an easy listen.

All seasons of the Serial podcast. They’re all separate stories but S1 is fantastic

The bbc limelight audio drama series is amazing - every story has about 5 episodes, and if you don’t like one you can always skip on and find something different.

for a long journey, an audio book or extended story might work - do you have audible? I’ve just listened to a series called temporal that was sci fi/mystery which I loved.

Another thumbs up for The Rest is History, very engaging and not at all high brow.

I also enjoy The Rest is Entertainment

Ooh this. I’m obsessed with TRIH, I go about recommending it to everyone.

Criminal is really good it’s not your average true crime stuff but it’s all related to crime. The stories are fascinating and the host has a lovely voice.

Serial season 1 and Sweet Bobby are both utterly gripping true crime. Sweet Bobby genuinely jaw dropping.

The Rest is Politics US version is great on the upcoming US elections.
