‘Shut up’: Liam Gallagher shrugs off criticism of Oasis ticket prices

Especially the last bit, wtf!

’Fans said they queued online for hours only to find that the price of the £135 standing tickets had risen to £355.

On Friday morning, Liam posted on X: “OASIS are back your welcome and I hear there ATTITUDE STINKS good to know something’s never change.”

When fans responded by criticising the ticketing approach, including one X user who said he “didn’t expect [Oasis] to rip off the fans as much as they have done”, Gallagher replied: “SHUTUP”.

And when asked how he was feeling, the 51-year-old responded: “SMUG only kidding SMUG AS F* I told you all we were gonna get back together 1 fine day.”

Liam was also asked how his mother, Peggy, felt about him and Noel reuniting 15 years after the band split. “She’s gutted she couldn’t get a ticket,” he said. When one person questioned why he didn’t give her a free ticket, he said: “Free don’t be silly.”

Anyone who has followed him in 'X' knows it's all a persona

He's made his steer out of being antagonistic

Constantly posting utter twaddle but I've also met him at an event and he couldn't have been kinder or less like his 'character'

He's old enough now though to know the act is sad and pathetic. Or he should be.

I personally think he just plays a character

This. Don't take it so seriously!

Christ OP, everyone knows what Liam’s like.

Nobody went to see the Sex pistols because they were a lovely bunch of lads..😄
Do lighten up!!

CustardCreams2 · 06/09/2024 19:43

Arghh that spelling 🫠😭
He’s a bit of a pratt isn’t he. Hasn’t stopped me getting tickets as well as oasis bracelets on eBay lol. I’m such a mug

JaneAustensHeroine · 06/09/2024 19:46

I feel very confident that the concerts will go ahead as planned as long as they are both alive and well! I have seen them both perform over the years and there has not been a hint of unprofessionalism or even a late start (that I experienced). Fair enough they weren’t performing together and we can possibly expect some fireworks on the way (as that is what we expect of them) but I don’t doubt their commitment to their music and fans one bit.

SallyWD · 06/09/2024 19:48

He's always been like this. Nothing surprising about it. His fans know what he's like and don't care.

itwasntmetho · 06/09/2024 19:48

I'm bored of hearing about these ticket prices and I actually felt quite upset that it was raised in parliament.

We don't have a cost of living crisis in this country, we have a profiteering crisis, energy giants making 1000% profits last year and the cap is still going up, supermarkets making record profits when so many are in food poverty. Everything that is crushing people is artificially priced, we are struggling to pay profit margins for the greedy, not for the actual things we need.

No one HAS to buy an Oasis ticket to live or to give their kids a safe stable childhood, it's a pure luxury and I don't give a fuck that some people won't have that because of artificial pricing.

Pick your battles better.

Folkwhore · 06/09/2024 19:48

He's always like this on twitter - he tells everyone to shut up. People write things to try snd get him to reply because he replies quite a lot. Its not serious....

Are you the bands management or the CEO of Ticketmaster?

Maddy70 · 06/09/2024 20:00

It was a joke......

Radyward · 06/09/2024 20:12

I knew for a fact they could charge any amount because if you were 19 when wonderwall came our you are now progressed on your career and can Afford more than 50 quid. I just knew they'd be 100's. Sure company directors remember them back in their college days might not care what they cost .
we got 4 tickets resale BUT a friend paid 1000euro for 2 tickets and can afford it. I have seen them once and both separately. Great night's. So many songs in their catalogue

liam has cultivated a persona from a loud arse at age 20 who is now 51 and keeps it up as its expected and he gets a laugh plus totally choreographed to my mind.
It's imbecile behaviour in parliament. Get sorting out the country fgs !!!

They are iconic to so many people they could have charged just about anything. They are not a charity end of and why should they .I literally can't wait to go. We have 4 tickets . 3 are taken and if my sister doesn't come I have a queue of 4 friends who will take it

.

This. You either get him, or you don't.

Oh I get him all right.

He is, and always has been, a monumental prick. Some people like that about him. I don't.

Absolutely, I have seen Oasis many times and I have seen them both up and down the country. I LOVE them both, their personalities and the atmosphere at their gigs, my son loves them and I would have paid treble the 596 quid I paid for 4 tickets to see them again because I can afford to and I would be willing to.

Julianne65 · 06/09/2024 20:47

I thought his tweets were funny. Especially the “kneeling only” comment. He’s just taking the piss. People always say the Gallagher brothers are thick but I think they’re both pretty witty. I’m not really a fan though. Saw them once in the 90s and it was the worst gig I’ve been been to. Even now. Boring as hell live.

CustardCreams2 · 06/09/2024 20:50

And all the roads we have to walk are winding.

I love how in Wonderwall the lyrics change slightly in that chorus part. It’s cringe but I get goosebumps

I’m not an oasis fan and I think he’s a knob but I’m actually proud of him for staying true to himself and remaining a knob. It’s entertaining if nothing else 😂

SanFranBear · 06/09/2024 20:54

It's all a bit overblown, isn't it? I wanted tickets, didn't get them, wouldn't have been able to afford them but am still 'in it to win it' for the new ballot and will have a think if I get to the point of 'tickets in a basket'...

As many pp's have said - this is who he is and what Oasis are about. They're older but they've always known what to say or do to get people talking.. I really can't get worked up about it.. if anything, it's nostalgic seeing the same old indignation.. I feel 19 again 😆

TheCultureHusks · 06/09/2024 20:58

rainsofcastamere · 06/09/2024 17:54

I don't care! I spent a lot of money on Oasis tickets as I have done in the past, I'm glad I did and I really really don't care about what he's said!

Liam also says lots of things that he doesn't necessarily mean, sarcasm is his language and I very much doubt that if Peggy Gallagher wanted tickets Peggy Gallagher wouldn't have got them!

They probably couldn’t pay her enough to go!

She has to spend every Christmas watching them bicker, she doesn’t want to have to sit in an even more uncomfortable chair doing the same thing for ANOTHER three hours

Beezknees · 06/09/2024 21:04

That's who he is.

Honestly I think people need to get over it now and stop moaning, it was never going to be easy to get tickets.
