Yorkshire puddings...

Are they a part of a roast chicken dinner in your house?

What do you consider as essential components of a full roast dinner?

I'd trade yorkshire puddings for proper gravy made in the roasting tin without the use of powders or granules.

@Ifailed

I make my gravy how my Grandmother taught me, but you need to make Yorkshire Pudding batter too. I'll try and explain as best I can...

You will need:
Comptons Gravy Salt (Morrisons sell it)
Meat juices
Little bit of Yorkshire Pudding batter
A bit of veg water if needed.

When you get your meat out of the roasting tin, pour some boiling water into the tin (probably around 1/2 pt) and scrape scrape scrape all of the meat juices and crunchy bits, (wooden spatula is brilliant for this) and then sprinkle in 2 - 3 teaspoons of gravy salt (this is a "by eye" method) more if you like a darker gravy.

Then, add a little bit of the juices to the reserved batter, and stir well, then pour into the roasting tin, and stir like crazy so it doesn't go lumpy.

If the gravy isn't dark enough add more salt to it, and if it gets a bit thick add some veg water.

You can go fancy and add red wine, redcurrant jelly etc but we just have the above. It's epic.

How to tell if someone is not a Yorkshire person - they say Yorkshire puds only go with beef.

@Kitkat1523

Yorkshire's aren't just for roasts

I live alone (now) & I have them
with a tin of mushy peas & gravy/HP sauce😋

steamed veg & mash

steamed veg & cheese sauce

roast Brussels ( or other veg)

I've become very lazy though, I buy Aunt Bessie's now, from to plate via air fryer in a few minutes.

I make them fresh if anyone's coming for dinner though. (I'm vegetarian
so 'which meat' doesn't come into it!!)
