U.K. honeymoon ideas?

Shopaholic100 · 05/09/2024 08:36

My friend is looking for a nice honeymoon destination in the U.K, to spend a few days after the wedding, the actual honeymoon is later due to work commitments. If you had a UK honeymoon or can recommend a short romantic break, please share. They are based near London. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Lake District is beautiful as is Isle of Skye, it's spectacular.

What type of vibe are your friends looking for? How far do they want to travel?

They do have access to a car but ideally don’t want to spend a whole day driving as it’s only for 3-4 days. Up to Lake District is fine, anything further will be too far. Something romantic, rural or city is fine, just not London.

Can we have an idea of budget op please?

Are we talking budget, middle range or high end?

Shopaholic100 · 05/09/2024 08:57

Mid range.

We did Devon and the Isles of Scilly which was fabulous - the Star Castle Hotel was wonderful if they're after accommodation recommendations too!

DH and I went to Scotland. It was stunning scenery and we didn't mind the drizzle. The Trossachs are beautiful in the autumn.

Parkgate Hotel Cardiff is lovely and luxurious. Very close to the train station and great for exploring Cardiff and the bay.

We went to Bath for 3 nights. We went on a bigger honeymoon later. It was autumn and just lovely. Lots of hotels to suit any budget and great things to see and do (all achievable in a couple of days).

cantpullthetrigger · 05/09/2024 19:17

We went to The Newt.

The Pig chain is also lovey.

Ahwig · 05/09/2024 19:23

Buzzardry treehouse in Marklye, it's in Sussex. It's luxurious and very private, not cheap though.

Philandbill · 05/09/2024 19:25

Bath. Just beautiful.

PersephonePomegranate23 · 05/09/2024 19:29

St Ives or Porthleven.

Tolcarne beach hotel in Newquay is also lovely, especially out of season when the town is quieter. You can fly from Gatwick in less than an hour.

TheLette · 05/09/2024 19:42

Cliveden House is lovely, especially in the summer months. Spa hotel but also a national trust property so you can go on nice walks around the grounds, lovely views etc. It is quite conservative though rather than more modern. I went there for a honeymoon of sorts.
