Cheesy pasta

Possibly the most pointless post 😂
so I always see ‘cheesy pasta’ thrown out as an easy midweek dinner for kids but I don’t know what it is.
Are we talking full on macaroni cheese or literally just pasta with some grated cheese on top?
Give me your how to’s on cheesy pasta!

So just to be clear, “cheesy pasta” is eating pasta with no sauce, just cheese on top of boiled pasta?

For me it's always been cooked pasta with butter and cheese stirred in.

I've upgraded a bit to Spaghetti "Nah"bonara. Cook Spaghetti. Drain and reserve some pasta water. Spaghetti back in pan on heat. Add butter and cut up salami/chorizo/Parma ham or whatever deli meat you have. Let it sizzle for a bit (keep stirring) add in cheese. Add pasta water until creamy. Enjoy!

Italian DP secretly loves it because he hates eggs. So he has all the flavour withoutthe eggyness. He hasn't told his grandma though...

For my cheese sauce I've decided I CBA doing a proper cheese sauce. It's Philly, splash or 2 of milk, splash or 2 of pasta water, cheese of choice. Tastes the same and its gluten free (obvs if you've used GF pasta)

Lots of simple but very tasty sounding recipes here and I’m going to try some of them. However, there are times when only this one hits the spot for me .

Spoiler... it does NOT serve 3

The only cheesy pasta I will entertain 👍

This!! Can’t believe people think cheesy pasta could possibly have tomatoes involved 🤮🤣

With butter.

The butter is the pin that holds the dish together!

Cheesy pasta in this house is pasta, and cheese 😂

Surely pasta with pesto = pasta pesto, not cheesy pasta.
Likewise pasta and tomato sauce = tomato pasta.
The addition of cheese to any pasta dish surely doesn't automatically turn it into "cheesy pasta" ???

Exactly this!

I couldn't believe the first few replies suggesting tomato sauce.

I can do almost a whole week of various pasta options:
Cheesy pasta / green pesto pasta / red pesto pasta / tomato pasta / even plain pasta

KurtShirty · 05/09/2024 00:33

For us it’s instant macaroni cheese - soft cheese, grated cheese, tiny bit of miso and a pinch of nutritional yeast flakes. Son is very particular about food so I try to include heath by stealth ingredients

What exactly do people mean by tomato sauce? A jarred, tomato-based pasta sauce? 🤔

Edited

I have either the Tesco or Dolmio stir in sauces. Tomato and basil is nicest. You don't have to heat them, just dump them in and mix.

My student household had a variant called 'cheesy eggy pasta'.

Boil a bag of pasta.

Meanwhile, grate/chop/forage all the cheese, including your housemate's shoplifted brie that he's going to have a massive paddy about when he finds it missing.

Beat a couple of eggs.

Drain pasta. Throw in beaten eggs & cheese & stir enthusiastically.

Top with ketchup/brown sauce.

Divvy up between whoever lurched home with you & is still conscious.

Deny all knowledge to Brie Wanker.

Yes! That's exactly how I make it. Minus the shoplifting bit 😆

AdoraBell · 22/10/2024 21:02

For me it’s pasta with blue cheese and broccoli.

PCOSisaid · 22/10/2024 21:07

My cheesey pasta is a quick cheese sauce with what ever odds and ends of cheese I can find in the fridge, some parboiled pasta - I make 7,000,000,000 portions (that I sometimes remember to freeze) - bung in oven with cheese on top.

I might then serve with bacon on top and some greens on the side, but most of the time it’s just eaten using garlic bread as a spoon whilst it is still at lava like temperatures 🫣🫣
