When would you be happy to see Christmas stuff in the shops

Just noticed Christmas chocolates in the supermarket today. Every year I hear people say it's in the shops too early, but I also get that some
People want to start buying ahead of time

For me 1st November would be ok

Heroes, Celebrations and Roses have been in stock in every Tesco's I've been in this year. I think it's just becoming an all year round thing now.

VerbenaGirl · 04/09/2024 18:38

Beginning of November. Christmas should never be alongside Halloween!

HappyDane · 04/09/2024 18:40

Actually that's a good shout. After bonfire night.

I love Christmas and think about it throughout the year - very much into all the hygge - and I'm usually on the Christmas board by the time September rolls round.

But I prefer the shops not to look like a Christmas grotto until sometime in November.

Smartiepants79 · 04/09/2024 18:40

I HATE it. End of October at the absolute outside. Preferably mid November.
Most things can be bought over the year if you wish to spread out your spending. Toys and most foods can be bought at any time. Deals happen all year round.
I just don’t need Xmas decorations available in August. 😡

CeeJay81 · 04/09/2024 18:40

1st November. Gives business nearly a couple if months to make extra money and people plenty of time to buy stuff etc. I love the run up to Christmas but it's too early to get into the mood yet. Still feels ages away.

Bellamari · 04/09/2024 18:53

November.

Sept-Oct are spooky season. Not Christmas. Pushing Christmas too early ruins Halloween imo.

Justcallmebebes · 04/09/2024 18:54

Beginning of December

MelainesLaugh · 04/09/2024 18:56

November. Then no Christmas Songs on the radio or Christmas Adverts on the TV until 1st December

LadyChilli · 04/09/2024 18:58

Mid November. I used to love Christmas, now it just feels like a huge extended retail event. There's no special Christmas feeling when the season itself appears to last 3-4 months.

Needmorelego · 04/09/2024 18:58

I used to work in retail.
We used to sell loads and loads of the Christmas stock.
If it was on the shelf - it sold and was then replenished and sold again.....and repeat until the big day!
The more sales the better otherwise retailers go bust.
Don't want to buy it yet - don't buy it and just ignore it.

RandomUsernameHere · 04/09/2024 18:58

Agree, 1st November

LadyInDecline · 04/09/2024 19:08

Not before November!

LindorDoubleChoc · 04/09/2024 19:11

Yes, I agree, 1st November seems reasonable. Probably still too early for me, but I think 1st Nov is an OK compromise to keep the Christmas fans happy.

LunaNorth · 04/09/2024 19:13

Mid-November.

Badbadbunny · 04/09/2024 19:13

1st December is soon enough for me.

WonderingWanda · 04/09/2024 19:14

Mid Novemver onwards.

EggandStress · 04/09/2024 19:15

December 1st

ChanelBoucle · 04/09/2024 19:16

Mid November at the very earliest. I bloody love Christmas too, but I hate the saturation of it all these days.

lollyPaloozah · 04/09/2024 19:16

Either after Halloween or preferably bonfire night.

Misthios · 04/09/2024 19:18

Preferably never, but appreciate that other people want to but the tat and the chocolates and the rest of it, so 15 November at the earliest. 15 December before radio/shops are allowed to play any of the horrific music.

Misthios · 04/09/2024 19:21

It still feels ages away because it IS ages away. Almost a third of a year away.

AyrshireTryer · 04/09/2024 19:21

After bonfire night is fine.

BrigadierEtienneGerard · 04/09/2024 19:25

From Dec 1st onwards.

BestZebbie · 04/09/2024 19:25

I think 1st November, with a possible exception for advent calendars (that need to be sold with enough time to post them anywhere in the world before 1st December). Tbh 6 weeks is enough time for anything to be out, so I’d suggest trees, baubles and cards from 1st November (as they are generally used from the start of December) but food and gifts could actually wait until a few weeks in.

Cosycover · 04/09/2024 19:29

Now.
