That's not a conspiracy, that's fact. I mean, did you even SEE the way that fluffy white cat got his human to sit still for him while he was busy menacing 007??

Don't you know about the Law of the Cat. When the cat(s) is are on your lap, you can't possibly disturb them to go and make a cup of the tea, so the other slave in the house has to make it for you? Grin

I've got them trained to come and sit on me at just the right times Wink

Cat still not impressed by CCHQ Clav's desperate attempt to deny what seems apparent...

When the story has been fabricated would be my guess.

It's very clear there is an injunction. Try to find anything out about Owen's family and you'll see.
Truth will out eventually I guess.

Zonder · 05/09/2024 23:13

Goodness. I guess the visitor on the last thread was just the office junior.

prettybird · 05/09/2024 23:19

@Zonder - remember hands Grin

And failing that, yet more pictures of cats/flowers/frogs/dogs Wink

Zonder · 05/09/2024 23:54

Oops you're right @prettybird here's one my DH sent earlier 😆

Her name is trending on twitter (again) along with posts saying that Private Eye hasn't printed a word about her

I've just looked at Private Eye on X - they've responded today;

Why isn’t Private Eye writing about the rumours surrounding Charlotte Owen’s appointment to the Lords?

Listen to the podcast clip - the team say they have written about her in the magazine - but the claim that Charlotte Owen is Boris Johnson's daughter is a 'classic online conspiracy theory'.

That's brilliant @Zonder : definitely going to steal that Grin

Ds' girlfriend, who we've converted from being a dog person and is now besotted with their rescue cat, will really appreciate it Smile

BustingBaoBun · 06/09/2024 06:50

The alternative to Charlotte Owen not being Johnson's daughter are actually far worse....🤢

Cat-paralysis is a real and debilitating condition. The only known cure is someone else rattling a dreamies packet in another room.

I suppose the point of the Owen story is that there isnt a clear answer why she would have been put forward to the HofL at that stage of her career (if he submitted his list before he left she would have been 28/29).

Its the equivalent of putting something like a 3 yr PQE forward to be made equity partner.

Yes. My DD was an intern for a large UK company. She didn't end up on the Board of that Co. What a swizzle

Well quite. If it's not something that is unfair to the rest of Johnson's adult children then it's unfair to interns and office juniors up and down the land.

Yes good summary.

It's not so much what we (think) we know.

But rather the things can't know. And I say can't because it's all kept quiet.

On the face of it there seems to be no good reason why someone so young and inexperienced should be made a life peer - however she may possibly have had 'special skills' in Johnsons world of self interest

Saw a tweet yesterday [so take it with a pinch of salt] translated from a German publication in which Ms/Baroness Owens was described by someone who knew her as being very bright and a skilled negotiator who took a significant role in [save] Operation Big Dog [remember all that nonsense??] liaising with Johnsons donors who were getting cold feet after the party-gate revelations - apparently very successfully to his considerable gratitude

Maybe a load of unverifiable BS but seems more plausible than the love-child hypothesis even tho' she looks spookily like childless Allegra Mostyn-Owen his first wife

Of course I can't find the tweet now!

Lady Owen was rewarded, by the PM, as many others awarded peerages, for expertise in her field. Whatever that might be.

Slightly missing my point really.
Nature abhors a vacuum, there is so much speculation online because its impossible to find anything out about her or her family.

The absence of any "who is Charlotte Tranter Owen" stories about "Britain's youngest life peer" in any media is striking. Maybe its not an injunction, maybe the media just think its not in the public interest Confused

Anyway I'm sure she was elevated due to her amazing acts of national service, going above and beyond. Can definitely rely on Boris to be country first, personal interests second in these things #sarcasm.

CassieMaddox · 06/09/2024 08:14

E.g.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlotte_Owen,_Baroness_Owen_of_Alderley_Edge

No mention of her father's job or interests, just a name. Mother's job is briefly mentioned.
Very expensively educated and well connected for someone whose family has no obvious income.

How? And why is it not reported?

Yes, suggestions bojo is her dad are speculation. But there's definitely something there that's being kept quiet.

BustingBaoBun · 06/09/2024 08:19

Two former 10 Downing Street members of staff told Tortoise Media that her appointment to the peerage was "completely staggering – her peerage is one of the most strange and hardest to explain because she was so extraordinarily junior"

Says it all.

Seeing her work record, it is measured in months here, months there, nothing with longevity
