you seem to be targeted again

Yep. Ignoring from now on!

prettybird · 14/09/2024 11:11

I find the "ignoring" strategy works quite well. I can usually get the gist of the more ridiculous posts from the replies of those who can be bothered to read the drivel their posts - so will respond to them instead (reasonably of course Wink)

I've found that the technique of making a general statement, not obviously aimed at the stupidity, but highlighting the difference by comparison works well. I have to resist taking the passive aggression too far - but sometimes they do really irritate Hmm

With certain posters, I'll also make a point of referring to them as "he": no idea if they are or aren't but their aggression definitely seems to have elements of testosterone. Confused

Apolloneuro · 14/09/2024 12:47

My fingers were poised over a ridiculous, badly written post about how unfair it is that state school pupils are favoured at Oxford (I think. It wasn’t really clear what the point was.) I resisted though, because there’s just no point.

I’m now enjoying a thread about beauty advent calendars. Better for my nerves, but not my bank account!

😂

James O'Brien gets a call from 'Colin in Portsmouth'.

'I bet you don't even care that the National Trust is becoming a Sharia Kingdom that forces its poor, unsuspecting customers to have scones without any dairy products in'

https://x.com/LBC/status/1834592224937394534

Colin needs to stop giving Portsmouth a bad name. We've already endured Mourdant and those of us who've moved out of city are now enduring Braverman.

We don't need any more crap 😂😂

itsgettingweird · 14/09/2024 12:54

As an aside I've love to reap and to posters who target me with crap propaganda repeats from MSM by quoting and just posting 😂 after.

But now emojis get you banned 🧐🤭

itsgettingweird · 14/09/2024 12:55

To respond to ....

Notonthestairs · 14/09/2024 13:17

I see Farage is busy

"Nigel Farage jetted off to Chicago yesterday where he spoke at a fundraiser for a climate denial group and urged America to "drill baby drill" for more fossil fuels."

Fridays are usually reserved for constituency surgeries.

BIossomtoes · 14/09/2024 13:57

If emojis get you banned - I had no idea - MN needs to remove the ability to post them.

BIWI · 14/09/2024 14:44

I must have missed the whole 'emoji banning' thing - can anyone link or explain more, please?

SerendipityJane · 14/09/2024 15:10

What made me especially mad was that the email I got 'Mumsnet calling' was evidently a copy & paste job, as it said something along the lines of 'we've had to warn you several times', which was patently untrue.

You must have had one of mine 😀

Someone on here - can't remember who - got into trouble for using too many emojis.

We discussed it for a bit on one of threads,

It was me on one of the riot threads

Here is the mnhq post

*HopeMumsnet · Today 13:28
Hi all,
We're still seeing obvious goading on here, could we knock it on the head so that the thread can continue? eg if you find yourselves poised to post comedy eye emojis, we would politely ask that you reconsider unless you are very certain that you are being amusing. Also, it would be very helpful for us busy mods at MNHQ if you would use the 'quote' function that we have provided as it makes deletions (when we need to make them) very much easier and faster.

BIWI · 14/09/2024 17:04

Ooh er - that was a real telling off, wasn't it?! Grin

RafaistheKingofClay · 14/09/2024 18:39

Might have guessed it was you. Trouble maker.

PandoraSox · 14/09/2024 18:43

Gosh, according to that other thread we are inching towards a dictatorship.

Gosh, according to that other thread we are inching towards a dictatorship.

That’s what 14 years of watching the Tory Party flopping about like wet socks does to the public perception when the Labour Party <gasp> does things it said it would do <shock> <horror>

SerendipityJane · 14/09/2024 19:08

Anyone seen the view - from Lord Brady - that Boris Johnson led the most left wing government since the war ?

I had not. I am not surprised at his view only that it has only taken three months since the election for a Tory to say that.

I had to hide it

RafaistheKingofClay · 14/09/2024 19:40

I will only take inching towards a dictatorship seriously from anyone who also criticised the Tories for restricting right to protest or removing levels of accountability from government.

Using the laws we already have doesn’t immediately strike me as becoming a dictatorship.

That's as bizarre as on the other thread people claiming the FT is left wing.
