Hi I need a two or three bedroom house, somewhere with good access to walking and running trails outdoors and a decent town with an independent cinema or film club within a half an hour drive/train ride/bus ride.

Needs to be an area where there is likely to be demand for in person private psychotherapy.

I have a son with disability so it needs to be somewhere relatively tame and manageable with regard to getting around safely at night on public transport. He loves animation and taking part in inclusive theatre.

Any ideas?

Can't believe nobody has mentioned 'The Notswolds' yet

I did mention Rutland (at 19.38) but think it's a bit pricey and limited transport/FE/cinema options. Stamford is indeed a nice town and not too far from Petersborough for city amenities, not sure about the walking/running element though. It's quite a tricky brief!

Shrewsbury or Bridgnorth might be worth a look. Both have independent cinema's and theatres with very nice countryside nearby.

Norwich. It's a gem of a city.

@OneOliveEagle is there anywhere you can walk run off-road straight from Harrogate do you know?

There’s a huge expanse of greenery in the town centre called The Stray. Everything surrounding this stretch is aesthetically pleasing.

The Stray is nearly all exposed ie safe and parts of it are lit. You could also incorporate Valley Gardens into a regular route which is a large, very well maintained and attractive Victorian-style park. Beyond Valley Gardens you start getting into the woodland.

There is just loads of greenery around Harrogate.

I could well imagine you could gain a large client base here as people have the surplus income to look after their minds.

Harrogate is incomparable to anything else in Yorkshire. The only thing I would strongly recommend is that you buy somewhere that has at least one off-road parking space.

Thirsk or Richmond both in North Yorkshire might be worth a look.

Ps @Objectrelations

Just saw your user name!

If you're a psychoanalytic therapist then Leeds is the place outside London where there are several psychoanalysts, psychoanalytic therapists and so on.

BumpyaDaisyevna · 02/09/2024 18:10

Harrogate, Ilkley, York, psychoanalysts in all of those.
