Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I'm sitting with dd1 in the kitchen while she makes us both a coffee. Boy kitten's getting comfy for a nap, girl kitten's jumping around like a loon with a toy, & dd2 is still asleep (I think). Dd1's off back up to make a start on another piece of homework & I'll see if dd2's up when I've drunk my coffee and taken my tablets.

We're maybe going out for dinner today since we didn't get there yesterday 🙄 Although the weather's less nice for a wander round the lake today.

When we get back, if we go, I need to sort my work bag for tomorrow (boo!) and maybe iron dd2's blouses for when she goes back on Thursday. If I get round to it, I'll list a couple of things on Vinted too.

Tonight it'll be self care Sunday for me - everything shower, face mask, moisturiser, the works, then an hour or two with my book before an early night 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Back to school tomorrow. And going back full time after 7 blissful years 🫠.
Today is a day cram packed with getting every job under the sun done. Luckily DP is taking the kids to cricket with him so they will be out most the day and early evening so I can really crack on. Already done two loads of washing, labled DD's uniform, made the beds and now going to do the weekly shop.

1AnotherOne · 01/09/2024 08:59

Just say in the garden with my morning coffee. Will do a treadmill workout with a friend soon (from home we both use Peloton so just link up) then I’ll do a Pilates class. Need to post a couple of parcels and have a tidy up round the house. Take the dog for a walk and maybe a Costco trip if I can bare it. Always so busy on a Sunday!

CalicoPusscat · 01/09/2024 09:00

Morning! ☀️🌦🌧

Still a bit dozy after a fragmented night's sleep.

Need to retrieve a parcel from a lock up facility, I'll have to get my specs on. It appears to be around the back of the supermarket, I bet I get someone's back garden by mistake. Then shower + cleaning as busy day tomorrow

Crunchymum · 01/09/2024 09:06

Weather looks quite good today so we'll have a canal walk later (we pass a park as well so that helps persuade the kids to take a walk!)

We'll pop into the local nature reserve as they always have something on - pond dipping / treasure hunt / bug searching They also do amazing coffee and cake for me!!

Kids have a few more days off but I'm at work tomorrow so I'll be sorting the uniforms this afternoon. Have a massive pile of ironing.

Dinner will be breaded chicken, balsamic new potatoes, salad and coleslaw.

We'll be chilling later although I have my SIL coming by this evening to pick up some stuff I've sorted for her kids and she always loves a natter / glass of wine.

Morning All!

Just had a cup of tea and toast, DD is still asleep but should be up shortly.

Nothing planned for today but feel like we should go out somewhere for a bit as weather is supposed to be dry albeit dull and I’m wfh on Mon and Tue so will mean DD will probably be stuck to a screen. Need to cut front lawn too and will also try and do a bit of ironing school bits before DD’s return on Thursday and then might be organised for once!

Good luck Classicstripe for your return to work and I hope all have lovely Sundays.

Justonedayatatime11 · 01/09/2024 09:10

Morning @lucysmam and everyone.

DH has just gone down to make coffees and breakfast. Bacon and egg on toast I think. DD is in her room, we have to go and get her feet measured today and attempt to buy trainers/shoes/winter boots. Never a good experience as she has triangle feet from 10 years of tiptoe walking so I'm not looking forward to it!

Think we're going to have dinner out and then home for a quiet evening and hopefully some early nights before back to school on Weds. Feel like the holidays have flown by and I've barely seen DD!

Theoldwoman · 01/09/2024 09:14

It’s 4pm here and I’m in bed with double pneumonia. DH away at work. DDs (adult) are both in rooms , chilling after working today. They ordered food in. One is about to run me a hot bath. They really do look after me when I’m not well. First day of spring today, was cloudy and cool.

OldTinHat · 01/09/2024 09:15

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone!

I've not slept after the cellar discovery yesterday and much delving into historical records. I'm a bit hyper now! I may need a small nap...

I'll probably do some bits in the garden before the yellow weather warning decides to put pay to that. I've got some more crafting things to do (I volunteer for a local charity which involves crafting) and then, who knows!

Happy Sunday all! (It is Sunday, isn't it?!)

FortunataTagnips · 01/09/2024 09:19

Get well soon, @Theoldwoman !

We’re going to have a quiet morning at home, though DP may take DD to the park in a bit while I sort lunch (no idea what).
After lunch we’re off to an end-of-summer party at the charity that runs DD’s holiday clubs. A bouncy castle has been promised!
Snacky supper and then I’ll head back into town for a gig - it’s over two nights and this will be Night 2. Can’t wait!

CoffeandTiaMaria · 01/09/2024 09:20

Good morning, it’s cool and cloudy here but the sun is trying to break through before the rain forecast for lunchtime.
I’ve just put a load of washing on, changed the bed and DH is taking the dog out.
I have moved some of my craft bits down into the (unfinished 🙄🤷🏼‍♀️) summerhouse because I cannot stand the mess and muddle in the living room any longer. The carpenter is supposed to be finishing it off sometime I suppose, didn’t see him at all in August, the shine of having one has completely worn off. He said he’d get it done for the summer when he started three months ago!
I need to make a cottage pie or something for dinner, remake the bed and vacuum through then I will sit in the summerhouse/ my shed with a coffee.
I hope today goes well for you all, get well soon @Theoldwoman 🙏

reinventionn · 01/09/2024 09:22

We’ll be climbing up a mountain in Switzerland where we live 😊

garlictwist · 01/09/2024 09:22

I've just been for a swim. Going to go to the supermarket when it opens as have no food in the house and then I'm not sure. Might go for a little walk somewhere if the rain holds off.

yesornothatisthequestion · 01/09/2024 09:25

I got up early and did a workout. Put some washing on which I've put outside to dry but actually those clouds look threatening.

Now eating breakfast and drinking coffee while listening to radio 2. DS is watching chicken run. We will go to my parents in about an hour for a coffee and catch up as we haven't seen them since our holiday and they want to hear all about it.

pictoosh · 01/09/2024 09:26

Housey day.
We went out on a cycle yesterday so today is all about chores/food shopping. I'm readying dd's room for decorating. Dh is going to repair a bench that broke.
Might squeeze in a nap. Maybe.

Konj · 01/09/2024 09:29

Grand rising !

I'm new to mumnet, and just want to say love the community and safe space all you lovely women are creating!

Today is gym day for me then coming home to work on my design portfolio, looking to make a switch in career roles.

Xxx

Hotorope · 01/09/2024 09:29

Good morning, lovely and sunny here today. About to head down to the beach with the kids for a morning swim. Will come back for lunch then meeting friends this afternoon, probably back at the beach! I need to fish out school uniform etc ready for school next week but they don’t go back until Tuesday so will do that tomorrow I think.

Shushquite · 01/09/2024 09:35

Good morning, I just took a break from packing up. I'm moving back home with the kids from dm house. We stayed here for the summer holiday so I could do extra work while my dm and siblings provide free childcare.

I have enjoyed it very much and so have the dc.

I need to pack up, do shopping for my house and then late lunch with my family. Then goodbye. This summer has been amazing.

BellaBobbins · 01/09/2024 09:40

Church shortly, then housework.

DH is tackling the garden, I'm tackling the house, DD is in a grump so is sulking in her room.

Also getting everything ready for back to school on Wednesday!

CoastalCalm · 01/09/2024 09:42

First morning in our holiday cottage for the week , sheep are munching at the end of the garden and so peaceful. Going to Pickering later for a mooch and then Sunday Lunch back to watch a nice film and do some jigsaw.

Iamnotaloggrip · 01/09/2024 09:50

Morning all.

DS and I have just baked bread so the house smells gorgeous! Going to have some with scrambled eggs soon. He’s playing football later so I’ll take him to that. DP and DD are going to the shops to pick up a few bits then it’s a quiet afternoon getting ready for school tomorrow. Roast for dinner, with crumble for afters 😋.

GameOfJones · 01/09/2024 10:00

Good morning everyone!

I am just sat with my coffee after having a fantastic sleep until 9am which NEVER happens. Thank goodness for ear plugs.

I've put DDs' bedding on a wash and DH is sorting out other laundry.

We're off to a family festival today but the forecast is for thunderstorms so we'll see how we go. It is local to us so we can walk there so at least if it starts pouring down we can run home. I'm hoping for at least a pint of beer and listening to some live music for a bit.

Then it's getting organised for back to school tomorrow. Packing bags, booking school lunches and getting everyone a bath or shower.

Not sure what's for dinner tonight. It'll depend what we have for lunch at the festival. If we need a bigger meal I have everything in to make a risotto.....or if we have a bigger meal out it will be beans on toast later.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Simonjt · 01/09/2024 10:03

Good morning, we have what feels like our first rainy day in months.

We’ve had pancakes for breakfast, the theme today was animals, thankfully most people were satisfied with cats and pigs.

We’re all going swimming soon, we thought well its raining, so we may as well embrace being soggy today, we’re going to a pool we haven’t been to before, but we know it has slides and a really good toddler area, obviously when we’re done we’ll have the traditional after swim huge plate of chips.

The evening will probably be a nice quiet one today. Our chickens have in the last week laid a lot of eggs, so I think we’ll likely have a spanish omlette for tea.

notlisteningwithmother · 01/09/2024 10:06

Love these threads!

Lazy morning here. Baked some muffins with DD and did a word puzzle together, made a list of things that need to be sorted before school starts midweek, and plan to take a leisurely wander around our local lake and river. We usually pick brambles in August but the berries are still tiny and green or dry and brown.

ViciousCurrentBun · 01/09/2024 10:16

I’m retired and one of my ex colleagues is coming for lunch and we will pop out for a walk round the very nice park local to me. She is a good decade younger than me in her forties. She will absolutely want to complain about work and I’m there to listen.

DH and I are still sat in bed drinking tea and have just eaten our breakfast. I’m cooking roast duck later, also picking DS up from the pub at about 10. DH and I have taken to watching a film in the evenings. He is about to retire and never had the headspace or time before but is winding down. He has worked on average about 50 to 60 hours a week for decades. Most of the extra at home, so he was around but not actually here. We sat holding hands sat on a bench at a nature reserve yesterday and picked loads of blackberries, I’m making a crumble today. It was so nice he had some time.

Peridot1 · 01/09/2024 10:18

Hello @lucysmam and everyone.

I have missed these threads last couple of weeks as I had my best friend staying from Australia. She left on Friday. Yesterday we had a village bbq that DH was part of organising so that was busy too. Today is chilling and catching up in a few bits and pieces.

Dishwasher is on. Washing machine is on with bedding from spare room and I can hang it out later I hope. I need to vacuum. And brush the dog as that’s why I need to vacuum! Also need to clear the fridge out. Lots of little pots of leftovers we thought we’d get to use up but didn’t and they need to go now.

Other than that I am relaxing in the garden with my book later. A Nigel Slater chicken dish for dinner later with cauliflower cheese and courgettes.

Hope you feel better soon @Theoldwoman. Don’t try to get back to normal too quickly. You need lots of rest for quite a while.

I feel I need to find yesterday’s thread to figure out your cellar discovery @OldTinHat!
