It was so good on so many levels. I do feel sorry for teens today.

Tittyfilarious · 30/08/2024 23:56

I was in my twenties in the 1990’s, it really was a fabulous time. Everything felt very positive.

RJnomore1 · 31/08/2024 00:20

That’s a horrendous “song” but I agree with the sentiment

80smonster · 31/08/2024 00:25

Hard agree. 🤘

I was a teen in fhe 90s, it was a fabulous time! There’s something special about 90s music.

Jifmicroliquid · 31/08/2024 08:14

If I could live my whole life in the 90s, I would.
Amazing time to be alive. I was a teenager in the late 90s and life was good.

GoldViper · 31/08/2024 08:40

Oh me too! I was in my late teens early 20s and at uni. I had so much fun! And no mobile phones so not too many embarrassing pictures 😁

I listen to absolute radio 90s a lot!

GreenPoppy · 31/08/2024 08:42

The 90s was my decade too, I was in my 20s, had an amazing time.

I'll give the 80s a hard pass, I didn't enjoy them!

AlcoholicDad82 · 31/08/2024 08:44

I was a teen and it was a traumatic family time. I was also overweight and now realise how toxic the body talk was, remember Chris Evans weighing posh spice. The drugs/waify look.

But I agree on brilliant art and movies, the magazines, the clothes, 90s RnB.

Mammillaria · 31/08/2024 08:44

Do you miss the 90s, or do you miss being young?

I was a teen in the 90s and there were a lot of good things that I miss, but there is also an awful lot that I was glad to see the back of!

flapjackfairy · 31/08/2024 08:45

i think some of this is because of the stage of life you were at. You were young with few responsibilities and everything was exciting and new . The world was your oyster with so much good stuff ahead. .My husband and I feel the same about the 80s and the music and films from that era for the same reason.
I did enjoy the 90s myself ! just wish they weren't so long ago ! life goes v fast !

Startingagainandagain · 31/08/2024 08:46

90s music was amazing.

Willyoushutthefrontdoor · 31/08/2024 08:47

We were watching TOTP 1991 last week while having food. He was saying D just sit down and eat your tea like, I was a kid. Oceanic Take me into Insanity was on and I was throwing out some moves around the snug. Well I thought I looked fabulous 🤣🤣 I was age 19 first time round. What a time to be alive!

Same. Moved into my first flat and it was just a wonderful time. Didn’t have much money but my friends were all in the same boat so we’d have evenings in each other’s homes, drinking cheap wine and trying to keep the cat off the takeaway pizza, listening to the best music and just talking and laughing, so much laughter. Tisserand essential oils in a soapstone oil burner on the mantelpiece for an ambient vibe 😄 Joining Britannia music to get the “loads of CDs cheap when you first join” offer, then forgetting to cancel the CD of the month and ending up with Kula Shaker or Cast. Making the most of student discounts for theatre tickets and clubbing. Developing our style in clothes on a charity shop budget. We thought we were so grown up and sophisticated but we were still so young, in the best way of having the whole of our adult lives ahead of us.

shallweorderpizza · 31/08/2024 08:51

I do think people mistake the hope and positivity of youth for all round brilliance - the 90s were very problematic as well as having great things about them.

SmugglersHaunt · 31/08/2024 08:54

I was at school in the 80s and a late teen/20s in the 90s. I look back on it so fondly now. Moving to London, barely going to college, working in the music industry - it was great

2pence · 31/08/2024 08:56

I'm working my way through That 90's Show on Netflix currently. Used to watch that 70's show in the 90s and it's a real nostalgia trip. The music, clothes, attitudes, I'm not really sure I ever really moved on from the grunge scene to be fair but then we do tend to hang on to our peak era don't we?

RootToVictory · 31/08/2024 08:57

I really enjoyed this article about the 90s this week.

LlynTegid · 31/08/2024 09:00

There were many good things in the 1990s, but I think we do tend to look at it with rose tinted spectacles.

If you ever use trains, many of the delays and other issues you face go back to the type of privatisation done in the 1990s.

Metaltoaster · 31/08/2024 09:04

I used to feel like this all the time a sort of bitter nostalgia and it made me so sad like a grief for time that I can’t ever get back. I decided recently that I need to think more along the lines of the 90s happened in my lifetime , I’m still alive and I can choose to live like that as much as I can to bring that nostalgia back to being joyful not bitter. So I basically only listen to 90s music , wear my old 90s clothes or ones I get now that are those styles and I leave my phone at home unless it’s vital I have it (once or twice a week maybe ? So vast majority of the time I don’t have it on me) I think my DP thinks I’m a bit mad !!
