September - anyone want to sort out their life?

HighQueenOfTheFarRealm · 30/08/2024 23:02

Mines a bit of a rut and I want to improve things.
I've got into bad food habits and need to be healthier and shape up.
I've got some supplements to take.
I need to be generally more organised and will be doing 'night before' tasks.
My biggest goal is to have less stressed Sundays! That means getting organised for meals, packed lunches, uniforms and cleaning so I'm not running around like a headless chicken! Instead I want to go for wholesome walks, read and cook nice food.
Anyone else?

Tentative yes. I love a reset

HighQueenOfTheFarRealm · 30/08/2024 23:52

Yes a reset! Excellent word for it.
I'm fed up of my rut. Looking forward to climbing out.

Me! Youngest starts school in September which means I will actually have time to catch my breath on the days I’m at home. Aiming to sort the house out (don’t laugh, the piles are breeding when I turn my back) and sort myself out. Had lots of low level health stuff this year so want to go on a bit of a self-care mission beyond just popping vitamins/all the iron/reflux meds…

whosthefoolnow · 31/08/2024 00:52

Yes, count me in. I want to sort the house out, get fit and healthy, improve the nutrition of the whole family and be on top of things and organised. It's going to take a lot of effort.

WinterMorn · 31/08/2024 00:55

Yes, have already started building the foundations this month with regular gym visits but there is much more I need to do with diet, appearance etc. I think ‘reset’ is a great way of looking at things.

JennyWren87 · 31/08/2024 01:21

Count me in. We've only been in our house for 18 months and there's just stuff everywhere. I am looking forward to declutter EVERYTHING. Also the ususal, need to lose some weight and take my supplements. And get organised for birthdays and Christmas.

EmeraldDreams73 · 31/08/2024 01:23

Yes! I'm in dire need of a reset. Decluttering, cleaning to a bit mire of a schedule, and especially food shopping/meal planning/not relying on last minute crap from the cupboard! Any tips welcome

Following!

Yes! I started sorting my life out last week and we’ve been away this week so had to take a pause. Raring to get back to it though. I’m starting a new job in sept after 9 years as a SAHM so more important than ever. I’ve done a fair amount of decluttering and house jobs this summer.

Aims:

• healthier food for all - fewer deliveroos
• separate but related, I absolutely MUST lose weight and get a handle on this now. Exercise 20 mins a day, minimum, eat 2 meals a day only. Halve my portions.
• start planning Xmas as last year was an absolute squib and not festive at all
• not forget any school or nursery related things. I used to be absolutely on this but last term was a disaster!

Plan:
• have finally embraced the non-paper calendar and created an epic google calendar, all 5 of us have our own colour, calendar shared with DH, we can communicate through it etc.
• all the kids’ school lunches are ordered and in the calendar, so we know what to feed them at home without duplicating

Sundays:
enforced/protected family/chilled time, maybe a weekly roast as we head into winter
do any meal prep for the week - maybe bake an after school snack for the week, meal plan
make sure everything is ready for the week
exercise for me
16:8 for me - so no breakfast, eat lunch and dinner

Mondays:
mega club day for the kids
cold tea for the kids, hot lunch at school
exercise during naptime
I’m out in the evenings so my meals will be breakfast and lunch

Tuesdays:
I’m working
Slow cooker set off am
exercise in evening
My meals will be breakfast and dinner

Wednesdays:
im working morning and evening so will exercise middle of day,
meals will be breakfast and lunch
Need to get a bike so DH can collect the kids from after school club in the car, bike to work and back will be my exercise for the day!
Toast etc for the kids for dinner as big meal at school

etc etc I’ve done the whole week like that 😁 feeling doable! Feeling organised! Feeling prepared!

Bananasplitz97 · 31/08/2024 08:42

I always get the new (school) year, new me feels for September!!

I want to build back some better habits too.

HighQueenOfTheFarRealm · 31/08/2024 09:03

@KimKardashiansLostEarring you've got a fab detailed plan there!
I definitely need to menu plan to get a handle on my time.
I live quite close to a supermarket and usually pop in there on my way home to sort dinner. Such a waste of time and money because I've spent a fair bit of time just thinking about what to sort for dinner that day.

Yes, here.

I've done this last year and one big goal was to read more. That has definitely happened. Another was to sort out certain areas of my house, which is still in progress, but the progress is there, at least.

This time around I'm aiming to cut out alcohol and only very rarely drink - certainly not during work weeks. I also want more productive evenings and get back into daily exercise, all of which should lead to increased weight loss.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 31/08/2024 09:08

Yes.

I'm doing a reset this weekend as my university masters restarts this month

Yes.

I go back to uni in a couple of weeks 🙂

Plantymcplantface · 31/08/2024 09:15

Reset sounds great.

I have bought myself invisible braces to get my crooked teeth sorted. Starting next month. Just about to start medical weight loss program on 01 September. Both with a big birthday in mind in 18 months time.
Started outdoor swimming last year and that has become a habit. Recently joined Goodreads again, and back into reading.

Been decluttering for years, need to keep at it. Usually at least one car boot full a month goes to the charity shops/tip. My OH is sadly a hoarder!

I have a heavy workload at work and with my kids so most of my reset is aimed at carving out time for me.

DancingPhantomsOnTheTerrace · 31/08/2024 09:27

Aiming to sort the house out (don’t laugh, the piles are breeding when I turn my back)

I think you can get a cream for that (sorry! Childish).

Yes I'm definitely in. I had a big tidy of the house last weekend and actually got it into a decent state. And I'm desperate for it not to slowly fall back into chaos. Our usual routine is big tidy, then it falls back for a few months, then another big tidy. It would definitely be more efficient and more pleasant to just keep on top of it all the time!

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 31/08/2024 09:42

@WinterMorn good luck! I find uni in the winter so tough so I want to make sure my space is as clean as possible so it's not a drag!

KimKardashiansLostEarring · 01/09/2024 17:26

Ah shit. Got home from hols and realised you actually have to DO the things on your list. Reality is hitting hard 😂😭 I don’t want to meal plan or meal prep goddam it.

Did do a tip trip today though, sorted everyone’s school uniform, picked up a toddler bed FREE (but then went to put it together and realised why they were giving it away - another tip trip needed!). Tidied oldest’s room and got a loft pile on the go. AND I took the kids to the theatre. Haven’t done any actual work prep though and have eaten masses.

I’m at that point in the declutter though where everything just looks horrendous.

Changeiscomingthisyear · 01/09/2024 17:38

I’m in. I’ve had a tricky year, if I’m honest a tricky last 8 years but I suddenly have a lot of free time. I need to be carefully I don’t crash and burn with my plans. I’m going to

  • lose weight, fast 800
  • exercise (daily yoga, swimming 2 or 3 times a week and couch to 5k)
  • get my teeth done
  • completely declutter the house
  • sort my skin care routine
  • book in a bathroom fitter

I will start a few things this week but next week I will be on board fully.

Maybepossibly22 · 01/09/2024 17:41

Oh yes, I’m definitely in. I need a major declutter - can’t remember the last time I saw my bedroom carpet. I’ve got a newborn who is 7 weeks old now, and eldest starting school next week.
Need to get into a routine for their sake - I feel a bit chaotic as I was so ill while pregnant, I let everything slip so it’s almost been a year.

JollyJellyCat · 01/09/2024 18:07

Yes I'm in. I want to make more time for myself - two DC, a DH with a Big Job, a MIL who needs lots of support and my own job. At the moment I'm last on the list.

My goals are skincare, decluttering and exercise- recently started couch to 5k after a few years off running.

Shergill15 · 01/09/2024 18:16

I'm in. House very much needs a declutter and for me to get into better daily habits in terms of cleaning. I also would like to improve diet/nutrition for me and DD and improve my overall health and fitness.

WinterMorn · 01/09/2024 20:23

@NeedSomeAnswersPlease thank you! Message me if you want to have some mature student chats!

aleC4 · 01/09/2024 20:34

I would like to join this.
I will start next Monday when dd is back at school.
I'm a teacher and have had a lovely relaxing 6 weeks off but in all honesty, although Ive loved it, I've not made the most of my time.
So my aims are:

  1. Eat better - I meal plan well during the week but it all falls apart at the weekend!
  2. Drink less alcohol and more water.
  3. Look at which supplements I need as I am entering the menopause.
  4. Exercise at least three times a week - this will be walking for now as I have a major problem with my knee.
  5. Get a much better housework routine in place.
  6. More self care!
HighQueenOfTheFarRealm · 01/09/2024 23:53

I've had a hectic weekend full of back to school stuff. I'm wiped out.
Crazy week of work coming up.
I really want to do fast 800 too. I'm sick of feeling lethargic and bloated.
