Chips dipped in butter

Gigglewiggle87 · 30/08/2024 19:25

So my kids do eat things like chips chicken nuggets. And similar. So we are not paticularly healthy.

But the kids see their dad every other weekend and the kids just told me they have chips and dip them in butter . I asked does daddy do it to and they said yes when ever they have chips.

It's made me angry /pissed off.

Am I being petty? There's no point me saying anything he will ignore me anyway

EOW wouldn’t bother me too much tbh. Maybe up the healthiness of the food you give them the rest of the time if you’re concerned?

PrincessPeache · 30/08/2024 19:27

healthier than dipping them in ketchup 🤷‍♀️

I’ve never heard of chips dipped in butter but I guess it’s the same as me adding butter to the pan when o make roast potatoes 🤔

Dearg · 30/08/2024 19:32

I have had this, and it’s pretty tasty. I mean if you are going to eat chips… I think it was my Gran who did it first. Extra points if it’s garlic butter.

Its not great if this is your ex idea of nutrition, but its probably no worse than battered nuggets etc.

mynameiscalypso · 30/08/2024 19:33

I can definitely see it with garlic butter but chips dipped in normal butter sounds a bit gross to me. But each to their own!

I'm nlt to worried now. I just thought it seemed really odd and really bad health wise much worth that say chicken nuggets . I thought it was like having something bad for you then something bad on top so it was double bad . I know I was thinking crap now 😅

I'd up the game and offer cheesy chips.

AdaColeman · 30/08/2024 19:56

They should be dipping their chips in mayonnaise! 🍟 🍟 🍟 🍟 🍟

With gravy!

It's no worse than having a chip butty is it, you butter the bread and then add the chips

I think, and i Mean this kindly op, you need to have a rethink about what you are feeding them, before you worry about a bit of butter.

NoMumLeftBehindLiz · 30/08/2024 20:05

Sergeant Dodds in McDonalds and Dodds always has chips dipped in butter, in every episode, maybe they've been watching that?!

soupfiend · 30/08/2024 20:05

What is the difference between that and having mayo, virtually just oil with an egg yolk in it, or having lots of butter on a jacket potato and cheese, or chip butty with butter, or roasties cooked in oil, with more butter over the top?

Sounds gorgeous anyway

Sounds grim,
Chicken nuggets are mechanically retrieved meat reshaped , feel free to Google this, ketchup is full of sugar butter (if actual butter not some spreadable with added whatever) is probably a lot closer to real food.

I was just going to say this! It's the only place I've heard of this before!

SophiaJ8 · 30/08/2024 20:49

If you’re going to cut out anything, get rid of chicken nuggets. They are absolute garbage.

WheresMySupportCat · 30/08/2024 20:50

Well- DH dips his chips into mayonnaise which i thought was minging... until I tried it.

It's not that much different from a chip buttie though without the bread?

It may be a little bit revoltingly indulgent- but tbh if that's the only compliant you have about their father and how he parents EOW you are in good shape.
