Want to take my daughter swimming but there's one problem...

I've got a 6 month old daughter and some of my mum friends have recommended I take her to baby classes at our local swimming pool (they've really enjoyed them). I love swimming and would love to take her. However I'm still exclusively breast feeding. My boobs have a difference of about 4 maybe 5 cup sizes so its nearly impossible to find a bikini or bra that fits. I'm a healthy bmi, pre-pregancy was a 30FF. Now I have no idea. The thing is they are too big to go without proper support and there is no way I could afford a fancy swimsuit off bravissimo or the like. Does anyone have any ideas, recommendations or suggestions? I'm thinking about going in bikini bottoms and my (very ill-fitting) sports bra and maybe a t shirt if the pool will allow it. I've never had this problem before and it really sucks. Thanks in advance 🙂

Get a cheap rash vest from decathlon and wear your bikini bottoms and a sports bra?

Iloveshoes123 · 28/08/2024 20:03

What about a rash vest over your bra? That is what I do.

Greentrilby · 28/08/2024 20:03

Would you consider Vinted? Loads of swimwear at great prices.

I wore my costume then a tight croptop lounge bra type thing ontop! All unsupported but it was fine

HaveYouSeenRain · 28/08/2024 20:05

Yes Vinted is your friend.
i got new swimsuits w tags for a fraction of the price.

WhenSunnyGetsBlue · 28/08/2024 20:11

Thanks for suggestions! I use vinted a lot, no shame there. Just the issue of fit. I'm not exaggerating when I say they are completely different sizes 🥴 I think a vest top is a good shout. Will check out decathlon!

I went swimming the other day and a lady getting changed was wearing a normal bra under her swimming costume - I thought it was an excellent idea and wondered why it had never occurred to me!

A normal bra under a rash vest or t shirt might work for you?

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 28/08/2024 20:19

Sorry, just realised I may have read this wrong - do you mean both breasts are 4/5 cup sizes bigger than they were pre pregnancy, or that you currently have breasts where one is 4 cup sizes bigger than the other?

Anothernameonthewall · 28/08/2024 20:19

I used to teach water babies classes. Had lots of nuns breastfeeding during a lesson- a few even in the pool. Carry on and go for it. You'll find that you'll end up timing the feeds so baby has a big feed after the class and then has a great sleep 😊

Anothernameonthewall · 28/08/2024 20:21

Just realised you weren't asking about feeding in class 😂

That's some typo 😆. All those nuns with babies!

But what did the nuns wear? 😂

Drippycandle · 28/08/2024 20:26

Would you consider a bra top with a chicken fillet type insert in to fill out the smaller cup? If that’s what you mean or do you mean they’ve grown from pre pregnancy?

dizzydizzydizzy · 28/08/2024 20:33

Lifeguard here. Check with the pool but I imagine they'll be happy with bra and t-shirt. Strictly speaking, all bathers are supposed to only wear proper swimming kit but we wouldn't stop anyone dressed like this. Ideally a close fitting top to avoid catching in any vents or lane ropes).

This is how read it, that op cant find anything to fit because each boobs is a different size. I realise now I'm probably wrong. 🤣

DoIWantTo · 28/08/2024 21:52

@Anothernameonthewall another one interested in the nuns with babies 😁

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 28/08/2024 21:56

Stick a t shirt on over the top
Look on Vinted
Or wait until she's big enough for swimming lessons where you don't have to go in....whilst a popular thing to do I'm not sure it makes much difference to their long term swimming skills whether they start at 6 months or 4 years....still, if you want to do it, you absolutely should!

peplepue · 28/08/2024 21:59

If you have a difference in breast size M&S do a silicon insert, I had the same thing and that worked well to balance them out

amoreoamicizia · 28/08/2024 22:06

A rash vest is a good idea but why not wear an underworld/supportive bikini top with a "chicken fillet" underneath rather than a sports bra? That way it won't feel weird or get waterlogged.

WhenSunnyGetsBlue · 28/08/2024 22:08

These are great! Especially the nun typo. Just to clarify my breasts are different sizes (my daughter only feeds from the one and other one has deflated!) Ah, the joys of motherhood. They'll even put again eventually I'm sure.

I know it's not a big thing in the grand scheme of things but it has really knocked my confidence. Just to do normal things like goong for a run, or swimming, or wearing a summer dress etc.

Sweetteaplease · 28/08/2024 22:22

Just wear whatever you want bra etc, then cotton singlet on top or rash vest

Oceangreyscale · 28/08/2024 22:33

I sometimes wear the longline yoga bra from Decathlon as a bikini top.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 28/08/2024 22:35

Nuns not keeping to their vows then 😂😂😂😂

Well that's a habit you shouldn't be encouraging!
