No it's really annoying

Velvian · 28/08/2024 11:49

I love it. I have watched series 2 numerous times.

I didn't like it at all, unfortunately. I am a bit strange in that I struggle to enjoy things if I don't like the characters or can't sympathise with them so it wasn't for me.

Same for me. I couldn't get past the first couple of episodes of Killing Eve for the same reasons.

I do love loving a character/s but I can happily hate them and enjoy the show

But I felt indifferent to everyone on it I have seen worse shows though

showersandflowers · 28/08/2024 11:53

I personally love it. So funny.

queenofthewild · 28/08/2024 11:53

I didn't like the first episode at all. But glad I overcame that.

But it's just a theatre convention left over from the show's origin in Phoebe W-B's one-woman stage show at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Well I would say as a "theatre convention" there's a lot to talk about as to when it is used and why and how powerful it can be, anyway. But it is developed in the show. I don't want to spoil it but for example the way the priest is aware that Fleabag is doing...something...when she is talking to the audience where others are not aware, maybe gives us some insight into their relationship.

EveryKneeShallBow · 28/08/2024 11:55

Nope not for me. Likewise Killing Eve. Irritated by all the characters.

Tutorpuzzle · 28/08/2024 12:28

Dull as ditchwater. And, like most bbc comedies, everyone seemed so thoroughly self satisfied with the supposed brilliance of their own acting.

(Although I will have nothing said against the bbc’s ‘Motherland.’ Which really was brilliant, and has thus been cancelled.)

the80sweregreat · 28/08/2024 12:33

I liked it and her , but I can understand why some didn't and found it irritating
Olivia Coleman is good in it.

martha4clark · 28/08/2024 12:35

Loved it; and am in love with the hot priest

Blackcats7 · 28/08/2024 12:39

I think it is/ was hugely overrated.

cardibach · 28/08/2024 12:41

I didn't even get to the end of the first episode. Self conscious and unfunny - one of those that thinks a bit of swearing and sex is edgy. Hate the 'breaking the 4th wall' thing at the best of times.
I seem to be a minority of one though.

GeorgesMarvelousCalpol · 28/08/2024 12:41

Beth216 · 28/08/2024 11:26

I couldn't get past the first episode as I found her so dislikeable in a tedious way.

Me too Beth. I really didn't like it 😕

cardibach · 28/08/2024 12:42

Reading the replies seems I'm not in a minority if one after all! Makes me feel better...

Kokomjolk · 28/08/2024 12:42

I thought it was very funny, enjoyed it a lot. Give it a go!

I got to episode 4 I think with killing eve

Namechange8463 · 28/08/2024 13:01

Hmm, I wasn't a huge fan of the premise, nor most of the characters. Could take or leave the first series.

However, I have watched series two several times because I am in love with Andrew Scott's character and the chemistry between him and Phoebe was incredible. The character development/script/emotions were amazing and very believable. I pretty much watched it just for that stand-alone storyline.

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/08/2024 13:03

It's Marmite. Watch it and find out.

MarjorieDanvers · 28/08/2024 13:03

I thought it was brilliant - the first episode is a slow hook but it caught me! Devastated when ended after just the two series!

Wish I was as clever as PWB!

TheCadoganArms · 28/08/2024 13:04

It was okay. Could not get my head around the hype and the borderline beatification of PWB in the Guardian where every other article had to reference her or Fleabag.

TenarAtuan · 28/08/2024 13:04

OMG YES
better after the first 10mins or so.
It took me 3 goes, I thought not for me but I LOVE that show!

cupcaske123 · 28/08/2024 13:04

I loved it. Didn't like series 2 so much. Thought it was original, fresh and funny.

I didn't feel they had any chemistry, but I really do like the fact other people felt it that is why I like talking about TV shows

spiderlight · 28/08/2024 13:11

It's incredible, especially the second series. Absolute genius.
