that have actually worked?

I only recently read on here about using a hot teaspoon to alleviate the insane itch from a mosquito bite.
I tried this last night, and not only did the itch stop but the bite site has all but disappeared this morning.
Husband is genuinely impressed by MN 😄

California roll method of putting on duvet cover. Takes the same time probably but the corners are right and I am less hot and bothered.

How to make a white sauce without lumps. The secret is heating up the milk!

I had tried everything before that. Now my mac and cheese is a family favourite.

Very helpful tips on elderly parents board. Some really good recipes. A greater understanding of ND people. It's because of MN that my adult dd was diagnosed.
It's like a window on the world.
Also some very good book recommendations. What else 🤔 Oh, i try very hard to behave myself as a mil and grandparent.

Seche Vite topcoat (for nail varnish). It's really good!

It's macaroni cheese! Unless you are American
Sorry for derailment. It is one of those things that causes murderous feelings!

Never to turn the lights on straight away on returning to your flat - in case you’re being stalked and thus give away which flat is yours. You have to wait a while so the stalker will be confused by other flats’ occupants turning on their lights.

I do rather wish I hadn’t read this …

California roll? The only way to do it is begin with an inside out cover, hands inside, grab the top corners then the corners of the duvet and shake the cover on. Takes moments!

Another good bedding one is store each set inside one of the pillowcases, it saves storage

Easier would be to have a table lamp on a timer switch so the light comes on while you're out! Makes potential burglars think twice too.

Or a smart plug/bulb so you can tell it to switch on when you're sat on the bus.

Just don't have a motion activated outside light Grin

I uses to do it like that, but I much prefer the californium roll method now. I do store sets in pillowcases though.

What is the California roll method though 😂 grab the duvet, fill it with fish and wrap it in seaweed? 😂

I’ve just googled, and I’m going to try it. It looks as though it might fix the thing where the sides don’t keep up with the corners and then the corners get lost.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 27/08/2024 17:23

Storing the duvet cover, bottom sheet and 2nd pillowcase (if there is one) all inside one pillowcase. Game changer here, given my far too small airing cupboard - I was forever rummaging through it to find all the pieces and making it even messier.

I bought a set of 4 giant plastic clothes pegs (the sort you use for stopping beach towels blowing away) for changing duvet covers single handed. Bottom corners of duvet into corners, secure with pegs, top corners ditto, give a good shake, done. They cost about £3.50 from Amazon.

Roasting tenderstem broccoli. We never have it any other way now.

The one cheek pull silent fart trick. Never looked back.

Spraying white vinegar on the armpits of stinky shirts and t-shirts before washing helps ensure that they come out of the washing machine without any lingering BO smell.

I can (hopefully) top this for you:

You do not need to make a roux for your white sauce - you can skip this step.
Butter, milk and flour into the pan all together, then heat gently whilst stirring until it's thickened. Boil for a few minutes, then reduce and add cheese.
