Do you have a hot/cold/alcoholic/non alcoholic drink at bedtime?

I've just made myself a hot drink - unsweetened almond milk with a bit of honey. Sometimes I'll have a chai tea. You?

Cup of tea (well several over the evening) and a glass of water for in the night . Yes I do wake needing the toilet but I'm used to it now.

Horlicks

Thistooshallpass24 · 27/08/2024 00:47

I drink filter coffee, instant coffee, herbal tea, (I have about 8 varieties open) sleepy tea or water
I'm not sure caffeine has any negative effects on me! I used to work evenings in a busy pub and drank pints of black coffee during a shift and still slept fine!

PoopedAndScooped · 27/08/2024 00:50

Water bottle by the bedside for during the night and early morning !

blahblahblah24 · 27/08/2024 00:54

Glass of water which usually is enough for my meds in the evening and the morning. Couldn't sleep if I had caffeine after lunch and would aggravate my rls. Any more than a few sips of liquid I'm waking up for the loo. Even more so now as I'm 32 weeks pregnant.

I drink coffee all day, so my first and last drinks are coffee. I sometimes put a slug of something in it - currently finishing a mug of Southern Comfort enhanced coffee 😋 If the coffee runs out last thing, I'll sometimes make cocoa instead. Also delicious with a little something added!

msmatcha · 27/08/2024 00:56

A sleepy tea

blahblahblah24 · 27/08/2024 00:58

I'm amazed by people who can drink caffeine throughout the day and not be affected by it. I'd be a complete mess. Amazing how different people are.

I take a cup of black coffee to bed with me. I know, but it doesn't keep me awake at all.

When I lived in Brazil, I used to go out for a 'nightcap' of a triple espresso. Everyone thought I was mad - except the coffee sellers, of course!

Doesn't keep me awake, either. It's just occurred to me: I never got much joy from coke or speed, back in the day. Wonder if there's such a thing as being stimulant-resistant? Sedatives, on the other hand ... 😵

I only drink decaf tea, but my last one would be at 7pm. Otherwise I'd be up in the middle of the night, going to the toilet.

Stumpedasatree · 27/08/2024 08:28

Hot chocolate, or sometimes just cocoa and hot water topped with milk (no sugar) or hot milk. I love a night time hot drink. Used to love horlicks too!

A cup of this before bed works wonders for me.

Ooh @globules, where do you buy this, please?

Ooh @globules, where do you buy this, please?

Aldi.

It's delicious. Excellent at inducing sleep.

And has rave reviews. I hope you love it as much as I do.

LBOCS2 · 27/08/2024 13:46

Squash for me. I drink coffee until midday but can't really have any caffeine after about 3pm or I won't sleep - I had an espresso martini at about 8pm on Saturday and they'd forgotten the decaf request, so I was still wide awake at 4am 😫

I then move on to squash and drink it the rest of the day. We tend to limit wine to weekends.

JanefromLondon1 · 27/08/2024 13:54

I have tea and DH has Chai Latte (hot) as tea means he wakes up a few hours after drinking it.

LoobyDoop2 · 27/08/2024 14:11

No, I take water to bed but the effort of making a hot drink would wake me up and cancel out the benefits.

henlake7 · 27/08/2024 14:14

I just have a kombucha about 7 with tea (Im tee total so its like my posh wind down drink!!LOL) then just some sips of water with meds before bed.
I cant be doing with all that up and down to the loo so I dont drink late.

Theoldwoman · 27/08/2024 14:33

Tea, Always tea. It’s just after 9:30pm here and my lovely adult daughter just brought me in a mug of sleep tea. Yum.

MWNA · 27/08/2024 14:37

A big mug of coffee with lots of oat milk while I watch something mindless. I'm usually asleep within half an hour

Vettrianofan · 27/08/2024 14:46

Clippers Sleep Time tea bag.

A cup of this before bed works wonders for me.

I used to prefer Lavender and Linden teabags, Knightsbridge brand from Lidl but can't find them now.

This is a good alternative from Aldi though!!

Meadowwild · 27/08/2024 14:55

Often a cup of tea, usually decaff/rooiboos.

WonderingWanda · 27/08/2024 14:55

Decaff tea
