I LOVE that book , my copy is so dog-eared , the film is ok but not a patch on the book

Isthisjustnormal · 26/08/2024 22:23

Yup, high fidelity: film with John cusack transposes it to the US (Chicago?)

Purplturpl · 26/08/2024 22:23

Ha thanks. I remember is being good. I can’t remember if it might be suitable for 15 yo though

I think I read it about that age, adored it!!!!

notanothernana · 26/08/2024 22:26

I read it in one sitting. Loved it.

GrandesRandonnees · 26/08/2024 22:46

John Cusack <sigh>

I loved him so. Might plan an autumn binge of his films.

TheGoddessMinerva · 27/08/2024 00:08

@GrandesRandonnees Grosse Pointe Blank is my favourite.

OonaStubbs · 27/08/2024 01:15

The film was ridiculous. It was supposed to be a small dingy record shop. The film made it massive, like an HMV or something.

I’ve had a John Cusak film festival! Runaway Jury is a good one.

CheekyHobson · 27/08/2024 02:04

Came here to say what everyone else already said, and leaving with a stolen intention to have a John Cusack binge-watch this weekend.

JaninaDuszejko · 27/08/2024 06:28

There's an HIV subplot (that the film got rid of) that's dated but otherwise it's fine for a 15yo.

AnImaginaryCat · 27/08/2024 06:38

Got all excited there reading the OP, thinking I can actually remember the answer to this "what's the book?" post.

Appears I wasn't the only one who remembered 😄.

It is a very good book.

CalicoPusscat · 27/08/2024 06:41

@viques I watched Runaway Jury recently

SunshineonLeaves · 27/08/2024 06:57

One of my favourite books ever, love Nick Hornby. @JaninaDuszejko is there? I don’t remember that. Are you sure it’s this book?

titbumwillypoo · 27/08/2024 07:02

Say Anything is still my favourite Cusack film closely followed by Con Air

JamMakingWannaBe · 27/08/2024 07:11

Won't all the music / football reference be really dated now - especially for a 15 yo?

So what if it is, though? That's how they learn about the past!

marmaladian · 27/08/2024 07:20

OK for a 13yo?

@GrandesRandonnees Grosse Pointe Blank is my favourite.

Mine too, going to start with that.
