This one is about half a mile from me. It has some lovely features although I would change the knobs in the kitchen ("knob overload" says my DD). I know it is next to the local train station but that wouldn't bother me. You are about half an hour from both Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling so really handy. All I need is to sell my house and find about £300,000 to £350,000. Looking between cushions on sofa for space change as I speak Grin.

What is local around you that you fancy?

I wouldn't mind THIS, it's less than a mile from me. Not for sale though sadly...................... Sad

Not sure if I would want to live quite so close to the river but it must appeal to some www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/86378241#/?channel=RES_BUY

This understated little number.

Or this which is nice, but amazingly wanky. Loads of different photos of the soft furnishings and the tasteful choices of colour scheme. The estate agents literally tell you the shade and make of paint used on the exterior woodwork, because god forbid you spend two million quid on a house with Dulux on the doors.

There's a lot to dust in that converted church. Would put me off straight away. Also wouldn't like the heating bill.

I would love this as long as I could sell the 5 acres of grazing land which would just be a load of hassle as far as I'm concerned. A postage stamp garden is all I want.

Ah, I grew up above Sowerby Bridge and this reminds me so much of my childhood home (although much more nicely done out).

There are some lovely houses in the Sowerby Bridge area but mostly out of my budget.

Would you keep that red in the dining room?

Hell no. 😂

GoatyMcGoatface · 25/08/2024 18:24

I'm sure I've seen that swimming pool in a TV drama.

I think I would prefer the house upthread in Holland Park if I had £45m to spend on a house in London.

violetsparkle · 25/08/2024 19:19

Wow some of these are amazing. Won't post mine as I think its a bit outing

HeySummerWhereAreYou · 25/08/2024 19:46

Grin Gosh! That's nice. And a snip at 45 million pounds! Shock

Abzs · 25/08/2024 20:03

This one is the nicest I think.

I love this one. It's tucked away but when the gate is open you get a lovely glimpse of it. I'm not overly keen on the decor but externally it's absolutely gorgeous. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/147702833#/?channel=RES_BUY

Quite fancy this one but never worked out why there are two kitchens next to each other…it keeps getting reduced. If I wait long enough one day ?..

If we're being strict about the mile radius, this is by far the nicest house. Most of them for sale around me are back-to-backs or scrubby student houses.

I used to walk past this street all the time - some gorgeous houses round there!

Orthodox Jewish previous owners? Not exactly standard for Norfolk but not impossible.

ladygindiva · 25/08/2024 20:36

If I sold up and used all my money as a deposit the repayments are a mere 8k a month 🤣

AlcoholicDad82 · 25/08/2024 20:37

gorgeous houses OP you wouldn’t get a 3 bed semi for less than £550k round here - affluent Midlands village. I’d love to move but school catchment.
