Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa in my kitchen spot, not nearly half as exciting as last Sunday 😥. Both kittens are watching something out of the kitchen window, after waking me up at a reasonable hour for breakfast & everyone else is still sleeping.

I'm off to a local music festival thing in a while, with two of my friends, and I think the girls are joining us for a while.

I might do a load of washing before we leave, & potter round for a couple of hours.

If we don't eat out, it'll be something from the freezer for tea, that's quick and easy. Followed by showers and probably an early one for me 💤.

What about you lot? 🙂

Sat in bed drinking coffee and watching Match of the Day with DH right now. Lazy day ahead. Might stick some washing in at a push.

About to make my second cuppa and then I'll get stuck into laundry and housework. I was hoping to go for a walk, but it was raining this morning and doesn't look too promising atm.

Might make an early dinner and curl up with a movie or TV series later, when everything is done.

DCat1 is snoozing beside me on the end of the sofa. DCat2 is probably snoozing in her little house upstairs.

DD is up and sounds like she's getting ready for work.

Going to visit my parents. Their old apple tree, must be about 70/80 years old toppled over during the recent winds and I mainly want to see it down before my Dad, who has no patience, gets it removed. No doubt I'll be making lots of apple things later.

Morning! Work up with a banging headache, maybe have had one to many glasses of wine at the local last night... DP is out playing cricket so I'm just relaxing with the doggo.
It's a nice day and haven't got any plans yet. Likely to just relax and not do much!

Do you all have older children (or no children)? These Sundays all sound lovely! 😅

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone , the sun’s shining here but I got soaked two hours ago picking runner beans for lunch.
I have faffed around for the last two hours, not much to show for it 🙄
DH is going to walk the dog, she’s asleep in the sunshine at the moment.
Coq au vin for dinner, new potatoes, runner beans and peas. There’s leftover apple and raspberry crumble for pudding.
My shoulders are very painful at the moment so I’m not sure what I am doing today, I need something that will distract me. I could set up my next embroidery project I suppose….🤔

@littleteapot86 mine are 14 and 17 (not far off 15 and 18). It'll be your turn soon 😊. I remember wishing for these peaceful mornings when they were little though - dd2 still follows me round the house sometimes & talks.

I've made coffee and brought it back to bed.

We planned on going to a local fair and car boot but since we've torrential rain and wind it's been cancelled.

We're out for Indian food later and the inlaws are calling as it was dhs dads bday earlier in the week and they were away. We've got him a cake.

Haha awww I can imagine her following you around 😅 mine are nearly 8 and nearly 4 so getting there.... Not that I'm wishing the time away or anything 😜

I'm also nursing a sore head after a very boozy celebration meal out last night. My cleaner has just tip toed in (I warned her yesterday that I may not be my best!). I think I'll have a lie down whilst the vacuum is on 😆

Morning! On hols in Devon with DD, DSis, BIL and their DS. Done a workout, now waiting for DSis to return from her run. We’ll all then go for a swim in the sea (bracing!). This avo could be a lovely bit of daytime drinking (after walking the dogs) as there’s a bit of a party weekend going on.

@littleteapot86 mine is 19. She sleeps a lot. If she didn't have to get up for work, she wouldn't make an appearance until 11 or 12. And regularly goes for a nap during the day. It's hard to believe when they're small, but before you know it, they've finished school and they're moving on to college and work and you're doing driving practice with them. It's great in lots of ways, but I did get all nostalgic when I read some posts in the Christmas board and remembered back to the Santa days.

We’re heading off for the Scottish Invertebrate Show in 15 mins. Highlight of the year! We’ll see how many tarantulas we come home with!
Tonight it’s Domino’s for tea and we’re watching AEW All In (wrestling), so it’s a nice day of fun things. Pity the sun isn’t shining…

Going to collect a Sainsburys order for click and collect soon, 17 year old DS loves a conditioner they have half price so have got 3 of them. 😃

Then DH and I are off to Elton House to their house and gardens and then back home for a Sunday roast.

DD has just gone off to her dads until Friday . She didn't want to go so there were tears all round this morning and now I'm feeling like a crappy parent. Sitting in the living room in silence while the non kitten kittens race around like loons.

Need to go to pets at home and to buy some storage boxes to put away the summer clothes so will go and do that shortly.

I know there's a piece of beef in the fridge for tea, but not sure what to do with it, or if I fancy it. I know that wallowing isn't going to help me, but I'm not sure how to shake it off!

Good morning @lucysmam and others. I have had two coffees to wake me up, then a trip to Aldi and then a cuppa and a croissant with homemade apricot jam. I'm about to do an ironing then a quick hoover, then I'm making a huge batch of meatballs. I'll have Swedish meatballs in gravy with mash tonight and tomorrow and freeze the rest. My children are all grown up now, hence the quiet weekends. My two dgs talk for Scotland though! And both at the same time.

My dad died suddenly on Wednesday. I don't know why yet, the Coroner is involved and we're awaiting a post mortem.
A few years ago he said to me that when he dies that everything we need is in a box in his bedroom drawer.
Today I'm meeting with my siblings at my dad's house to find and look through the box, talk about funeral arrangements for when his body is released and probably discuss plans for his house and possessions. Also just to be together and try and process what happened.
There's no hurry with the house stuff I guess but I live 300 miles away so we should talk about it while all together in person.

We are off for a big family picnic today (16 kids and 9 adults 😀) but it should be fun.

It's so hard to get us all together this is just immediate family as well

Weather looks okay too. Yesterday was dismal.

Shopping arrived earlier so I'm just prepping a pesto pasta salad, potato salad and roasting some chicken thighs.

Will put some aside and that will be dinner sorted too.

Back to work Tuesday after a glorious 3 weeks off so trying to get on top of the housework.

DP is working today but may take older 2 cinema later depending on what time we're all home / what time the film is showing so we've not mentioned anything yet incase it doesn't pan out.

This thread is exactly what I needed this morning. Going through a difficult time and trying to focus on the small pleasures and self care at the moment.

So just had my second tea in bed while my twins 4 year old girls maiine toast in front of bluey downstairs. 15 year old DD still asleep, she is gojng for sunday lunch with her dad and step mum, my old in laws too, so i really should go in and wake her soon.

Me and the twins walking up to my mums for a roast soon ourselves. It will bw good to get out of the house and the strole up will do me good.

Made a puff pastry pizza thing for breakfast using up left over pastry from a tarte tartin I made the other day

Roasted some sweet potatoes 🍠 for a dish I'm making later

Currently watching Upgraded while I potter around the kitchen

I might go shopping later for bits and pieces for DS going off to uni.
