I’ve started buying a magnet from each holiday I’ve been on. I have only have two so far. One is from my trip to New York, which was over Christmas and one from a city break to London when I saw Stevie Nicks at Hyde Park!

Does anyone else do this? 😊

JollyHostess101 · 24/08/2024 11:08

We do! My mum
collected christmas tree decorations which I’ve now inherited and have started to do that as well!!

MewMew101 · 24/08/2024 11:09

I do! It really brightens up my otherwise fairly dull kitchen, and is a lovely reminder of fun holidays and days out.

EmeraldIsla · 24/08/2024 11:50

Decades worth of holidays in magnet form on my fridge. Great memories.

chipsandpeas · 24/08/2024 11:58

fridge magents for me as well, and i have also bought ones from ebay of places i have been before i started collecting them or i will ask someone to get me one if they are going somewhere needed

BaronessBomburst · 24/08/2024 12:01

Yes, we buy either a fridge magnet or a bauble for the Xmas tree.

Sethera · 24/08/2024 12:02

Yes, we do this with fridge magnets. We must have about 50 by now (mainly day trips).

weebarra · 24/08/2024 12:02

We've always had integrated fridges so magnets don't work, but I do have a range of souvenir dish towels and pinnies.
Which makes me sound really old - I am quite old but I also do a lot of cooking, so they are handy!

violetsparkle · 24/08/2024 12:04

That's cute

Always. I rearranged them all when we had our kitchen done and now they are more ordered so I have more free space to fill. I've got 4 new ones this summer alone.

violetsparkle · 24/08/2024 12:16

I love the Christmas decoration idea

Bluebellsinthewind · 24/08/2024 12:20

I do this too, buy a magnet on holiday and if we go a day trip. Love getting something out the fridge and a memory pops back.

BeADinosaur · 24/08/2024 12:21

Yes!

My fridge is covered. We buy magnets for every country/city/show/museum/place of interest we've been to. So a week's holiday can result in 8 or 9 magnets!

I just took a photo, but then realised how incredibly outing my fridge actually is 🤣

Crunchymum · 24/08/2024 12:26

I've been doing this for years and ask family to get me magnets too.

Some of my more exotic are Columbia, Japan, Nepal, Cuba, Brazil.

My most treasured are the ones my mum got me.

(Would take a pic but have loads of personal letters held up by said magnets)

hopeishere · 24/08/2024 12:34

We get:
Magnets
Christmas decoration
Tee shirts (DH)
Snow globe (DS)

Yes! We have over 100 magnets and some of them are really lovely, BUT we changed our kitchen to a fancy streamlined kitchen with an integrated fridge freezer and now our lovely magnets and memories are living in a shoebox. Any advice??!

Summertimer · 24/08/2024 12:39

I have a postcard sized photo frame I bought at a museum shop. I use it to display different postcards - art or places visited. Brightens up the mantle piece

CountTo10 · 24/08/2024 12:43

My fridge is covered with magnets from holidays. It wasn't something I really wanted to do but someone bought me one then my sons seemed to think it was obligatory so we ended up with loads. Even now they don't live with me they get a fridge magnet for me if they go somewhere new.

I'm glad we did now as I now have lovely memories to look back on every time I go to the fridge. Most of them hold up the family calendar, one of which, I've always had even though now it's just me really.

Topbird29 · 24/08/2024 12:43

@WelshMoth - we moved somewhere with an integrated fridge, so couldn't put ours on there either! Have got a whiteboard in the kitchen that we put dime on.
Also now but tea towels from places (and use them).

Are all your appliances integrated or could you put them on the washing machine/dryer/dishwasher instead? Google says it's safe to put magnets on a microwave so that could be another option

longdistanceclaraclara · 24/08/2024 13:03

Always buy a Christmas tree decoration. If a Christmas decoration isn't available something that can be fashioned into one. Purists would hate my tree, I love it!

longdistanceclaraclara · 24/08/2024 13:04

@WelshMoth magnetic whiteboard in the kitchen?

hellodolly1 · 24/08/2024 13:06

Yes literally everywhere we go ! I forgot earlier this year and was very disappointed in myself Shock
