Just a reminder: GB News is not a news channel.

Just that really.

If it's not the hourly news update, what they broadcast is not news.

So when you tune in to Patrick Christie, Martin Daubney, even Christopher Hopper 🙈shows, they are not bringing you news, they're feeding you right wing propaganda with scant regard for facts and stuff.

I enjoy it, but it's not a news channel and I don't think it should be allowed to style itself as one.

I recall during covid the press, every single paper had the same front cover on the same day. It was illuminating. They were all singing from the same hymn sheet that day.

So Sky and the BBC that repeat news stories over and over and over and over are not news channels?

News used to be a slot at the start/middle/end of the day. With 24 hour 'News' they absoluely have to repeat stuff as it isn't possible to be sending people out 24 hours a day to bring back new stories. Also, people watch when they are ready so in order to pick up the News, repeating the News means more people get to watch the News.

They do live new bulletins on the hour. If you watch News channels, they do not repeat the 8pm bulletin at midnight and a 9pm one at 1am.

And they repeat stories all day long.

OK, I stand corrected. So what, according to you, is the definition of "a news channel"? Or are you saying there are no news channels in the UK? I could possibly agree with that, and maybe I've misunderstood your whole thread and you just suddenly wanted to comment that GB news like everything else in the UK is not news?

(I'd probably do a better job of not jumping to "ridiculous conclusion[s]" if you'd do a decent job of making a point.)

No, you'd probably do a better job of not jumping to ridiculous conclusions if you asked questions and read what I've written on the thread rather than what you imagine in your head.

I have already given examples of what I'm talking about. Another example is Christopher Hopper's pushing a line that the "government are taking money off pensioners to give handouts to NHS workers". The guest from Age concern and both commentators on the show disputed this. Yet he continued to push this line. As have numerous other GB News journalists.

I advise you to fact check everything they tell you before repeating it.

Thank Christ you've come along to pull us all out of the shit.

GB News repeats programmes too, but I don't think it's too much to expect up to date news from a news channel @AlisonDonut. GB News isn't a news channel, it's a views channel, like Talk TV.

Don't you think it's a good idea to fact check all your news sources? I do, regardless of the source (peer reviewed articles in reputable journals are probably the exception).

Whenever I read an article about a subject I have specialist expertise in, it invariably has errors in - sometimes very big errors. I assume the same is true of articles about other topics, I just don't have the knowledge to spot it.

How strange, and stupid, to always just unquestioningly believe what you are told.

Edited

Google "The Grievance Studies Affair", peer reviewed articles in some allegedly reputable journals are not as reliable as they used to be.
