Just a reminder: GB News is not a news channel.

Just that really.

If it's not the hourly news update, what they broadcast is not news.

So when you tune in to Patrick Christie, Martin Daubney, even Christopher Hopper 🙈shows, they are not bringing you news, they're feeding you right wing propaganda with scant regard for facts and stuff.

I enjoy it, but it's not a news channel and I don't think it should be allowed to style itself as one.

I don't like GB News but I hate some sanctimonious, patronising people telling people what they should or should not watch even worse.

This. ^ In spades. And the more someone tells me to not do something, the more I will do it. I don't like being told what to do.

Zerro · 24/08/2024 21:55

DH watches this.I don't particularly like their presenters but they certainly talk about subjects that you wouldn't get on the BBC.
I think it's healthy to listen to opposing views and avoid the mistake of thinking that people who you don't agree with are bad people.

loulouljh · 24/08/2024 21:56

The same could be said for the BBC! Propaganda all the way...

You need to watch all news channels to get a well rounded view
Russia Today was good
Al Jazeera
GB News
LBC
BBC
Channel 4
Even the boring regional news

Which we do. As with all media it's more interesting and informative.

Not that I trust much these days.

GB TV is terrible and impartial opinion piece for the right.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 24/08/2024 22:37

LMAO. I bet you read the guardian and think that's impartial.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 24/08/2024 22:39

SaintHonoria · 24/08/2024 21:45

I prefer right wing news to left wing biased news.

It's ALL biased. I try and read/watch multiple sources and piece together the truth.

catlovingmummy · 25/08/2024 01:26

GB appears right wing and bbc /itv left wing. Think people are pretty clued up to make up their minds on what news is to them. Do you work for the BBC?

Redshoeblueshoe · 25/08/2024 10:57

Free Speech Nation which is on GBNews at 7pm tonight is brilliant. It has covered WPATH which the BBC have completely ignored. The BBC are far too busy promoting drag queens to bother with stuff that is actually important.

Don’t you find telling people what they can and can’t watch a bit authoritarian?

Don't you find making stuff up a bit detrimental to communication?

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 25/08/2024 12:45

"Read the books they don't want you to read. That's where the good stuff is."

The minute someone tells me what not to watch/read I do the opposite.

TooBigForMyBoots · 25/08/2024 12:49

Who has told you what to watch or read @GargoylesofBeelzebub?

People don't like being told what to do OP. Even if they then turn round and say that noone told them.

Are you for real?

TooBigForMyBoots · 25/08/2024 13:05

I haven't told anybody what to do or what to watch.

I watch GB News. I enjoy GB News, but it is not a news channel. If Nana, Patrick, Martin etc say something, it's not the same as Fiona Bruce on the 10 o'clock News. Some people don't know that.

Agree it's not news, but views. Should be called GB Views.

Yes I agree with this.
Im not against them broadcasting as such, but they are far closer to an opinion channel than a news channel. At least talk tv didn’t pretend they were a news channel.

I also strongly feel that sitting MPs should not be allowed to run regular, scheduled slots on these channels like JRM, Anderson and now Farage did/do. Edit to add, I can’t think of any liberal or labour MPs that do this, but if they do, that should stop too.

Bumping and repeating that everyone should fact check GB News stuff before repeating it.

Oooh should we really??

Bossy boots

Nah I'm good thanks

peachescariad · 25/08/2024 13:17

I watch GB news but I also watch/read BBC/guardian/ independent/ft/telegraph/the times and even the daily mail...I'm not blinkered to one and ignorant of the others.

Are you not concerned about repeating lies or misinformation? Or even just believing it yourself?

"Are you not concerned about repeating lies or misinformation? Or even just believing it yourself?"

Yet I bet you take what the BBC and guardian tell you as the truth.

The BBC is the biggest propaganda machine, all news outlets are, so why are you picking on GB news when they all spout what they want for their own hidden agendas 🙄
