Just that really.

If it's not the hourly news update, what they broadcast is not news.

So when you tune in to Patrick Christie, Martin Daubney, even Christopher Hopper 🙈shows, they are not bringing you news, they're feeding you right wing propaganda with scant regard for facts and stuff.

I enjoy it, but it's not a news channel and I don't think it should be allowed to style itself as one.

Are you not concerned about repeating lies or misinformation? Or even just believing it yourself?

Edited

Yes…. Which is why you shouldn’t believe ANY media outlet!!!
Im shocked you don’t realise this

RamblingEclectic · 25/08/2024 13:44

Much like all documentaries are edutainment at best, its similar with news channels. Pretty much every news source has had its bias and flawed reporting pointed out and all of them have editorial pieces that support the chosen editorial line. It's very important to not rely on any one source. It's why sites like Ground News and similar that show news stories from different sources with information on ownership and editorial bias are gaining popularity.

The BBC is the biggest propaganda machine, all news outlets are, so why are you picking on GB news when they all spout what they want for their own hidden agendas 🙄

Exactly

Oooh should we really??

Bossy boots

Nah I'm good thanks

Don't you think it's a good idea to fact check all your news sources? I do, regardless of the source (peer reviewed articles in reputable journals are probably the exception).

Whenever I read an article about a subject I have specialist expertise in, it invariably has errors in - sometimes very big errors. I assume the same is true of articles about other topics, I just don't have the knowledge to spot it.

How strange, and stupid, to always just unquestioningly believe what you are told.

BornToBeWokeFree · 25/08/2024 13:57

GB news winds up the socialists who are desperate to shut it down. Long live GB News 😂

Ah, personal attacks on someone's appearance - a favoured weapon of the right. Love it when they show themselves for who they really are.

We can read between the lines dear.

Not very well. I'm read local papers, the Times and the i. I read allsorts on-line.

Perhaps get to grip with reading what's written, rather than making stuff up and calling it reading between the lines.

Oh no dear. It's absolutely clear what the truth is here.

OP...if you think that GB News isn't News then can you define what a News channel has to have in order to be considered a News channel?

You enjoy GB News despite being conscious it's not an impartial news source. Genuine question, what do you like about it?

HelloMiss · 25/08/2024 14:32

@TarantinoIsAMisogynist wind yer neck in love

I'm capable of reading the news, as are most mumsnetters!!

Just don't need 'telling'

News night and the Sunday programme are interesting because interviewers and interviewees have time to answer questions.

The BBC ITV news are just soundbites much of which ends up on the cutting room floor.

Bore off .
No-one tells me who or what to watch .

Menopausalsourpuss · 25/08/2024 14:50

I haven't had a TV licence since the Covid years when I realised the so called BBC/ITV journalists weren't doing their jobs and just parroting government propaganda. I do sometimes catch GBN on YouTube. People of a lefty persuasion always think that the problem is the "plebs" are being led astray by charlatans as they cant think for themselves(see Brexit, recent riots etc) and its nothing to do with their mismanagement of the country. I will carry on not listening to them and forming my own opinions but thanks for the laughs OP.

OP...if you think that GB News isn't News then can you define what a News channel has to have in order to be considered a News channel?

Good question. For me a news channel is more fact based. GB News opened a programme, Ben Leo IIRC, saying Keir Starmer "hates" Britain. Not only is it not factual, it's most likely an outright lie.

Disagree with his politics all you like, but to say he "hates" the place is rubbish and not what i expect on a news channel.

For all those who think the BBC is left wing, explain Laura Kuenssberg to me.

For all those who think the BBC is left wing, explain Laura Kuenssberg to me.

Laura Kuensberg manages to achieve the dubious honour of being accused of left wing bias by the right and right wing bias by the left. Perhaps she's got it right.

luckylavender · 25/08/2024 15:04

I have never heard her being accused of being Left wing! Question Time is another interesting conundrum, although I think Bruce had got better recently. Explain why Farage has been on it so often.

TooBigForMyBoots · 25/08/2024 15:34

I also expect the news to be current and up to date. Not repeats of bulletins that went out hours before.

Very real. Suggest you open your eyes rather than making meaningless remarks.
