Would you pay £27 for a 1984 band t shirt?

Just that really. I do like a band t shirt but I much prefer a proper vintage one as opposed to one you can pick up in H & M with the Rolling Stones emblazoned across it (for example)

But they can be pricey (this one is reasonable I think!) so would you go for a proper old school original or a brand new one?

A proper, old, original one! It'll be thick, good quality cotton too.

Wahine24 · 21/08/2024 23:30

New ones have fake ageing , are much thinner and stretchier "cotton" ( often a blend) old ones might be slightly smaller so worth asking for measurements
But yep given the choice true vintage!
(& Only wash it on cool, not a fast spin, hang to dry, only iron inside out - i would not iron it tbh)

You’d have to tell me the band but yes I would

Definitely old style, they will last for years. Which band though??? 😱😱

Zonder · 21/08/2024 23:33

Depends on the band

shellyleppard · 21/08/2024 23:34

I went to a concert this year and the t shirts were £30!!!! The cheapest hoodie was £60 ..... definitely go for vintage in my humble opinion 🤣

EconomyClassRockstar · 21/08/2024 23:38

My DD wears my 1998 Primitives t-shirt on a regular basis. Apparently it's the most comfortable item of clothing she owns. It makes me smile every time I see her wear it so yes, I'd pay 28 quid for that (presuming it is the RS or similar) as it would remind me of my Dad.

EconomyClassRockstar · 21/08/2024 23:38

Also, I saw the Stones this summer and the t-shirts were $45 min

GellerYeller · 21/08/2024 23:39

Just coming on to say the same as @shellyleppard. Been to several arena and stadium shows this year. T shirts £40 or in one case £45, Hoodies £60-80. Vintage is cool.

ViciousCurrentBun · 21/08/2024 23:41

DH has a couple of dozen original band/concert artist t.shirts. He was at the Nelson Mandela concert at Wembley in the 1980’s probably his most iconic one. Go original.

shellyleppard · 21/08/2024 23:42

@GellerYeller absolutely agree 😁 i love the band I saw but just couldn't justify paying the high prices for merchandise. It was a fantastic concert though 😍

drunken · 21/08/2024 23:42

Ds has just spent over a ton on a vintage band tshirt 😱although it's still less than football ones go for.

I've got old iron maiden ones and the quality is so much better than the ones you can buy now. Tempted though to sell some of the other ones, Ned's etc go for a fortune now.

Livinginaclock · 21/08/2024 23:45

If I wanted it, and could afford it, yes.

BatFaceGrrrll · 22/08/2024 04:40

Hall & Oates European tour 1984 😀

OP posts:
Zonder · 22/08/2024 05:40

Probably not then but if you're a fan then definitely. That would be a good price for someone who was a fan.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 22/08/2024 06:10

H&O?

If you're a fan yes. But I wouldn't say that they had endured into the 2020s as much as some 80s bands. Did you go
To any gigs on that tour?

ProfessorPeppy · 22/08/2024 06:16

I was listening to the best of Hall and Oates in the car yesterday. It's a shame they've fallen out; hasn't Daryl taken out a restraining order or something?

<googles> yes he has! variety.com/2023/music/news/hall-oates-restraining-order-solved-selling-share-primary-wave-1235808326/amp/

hexsnidgett · 22/08/2024 06:19

Hall and oats no.
I have a Bowie sweatshirt that's probably worth a fortune!
I hate all the Nirvana tshirts in the shops, it seems all wrong.

mitogoshi · 22/08/2024 06:20

@hexsnidgett

I have an original nirvana t shirt! Unfortunately it's tatty from being worn

HotCrossBunplease · 22/08/2024 06:23

Yes, as long as it has no holes or anything. Eighties Hall and Oates, so so uncool it is very cool indeed 😀. Do you have a pic?

hexsnidgett · 22/08/2024 06:25

Yeah my tshirts are all well loved. I couldn't afford a tshirt the times I saw Nirvana, but even though I could buy as many as I like now, it would seem wrong.

ViciousCurrentBun · 22/08/2024 06:35

I have just looked up DH t.shirt, it’s going for £100 !

HotCrossBunplease · 22/08/2024 06:41

The only thing I would say is that an eighties T shirt probably has a terrible cut, very high neck and boxy wide sleeves.

Damnloginpopup · 22/08/2024 07:24

My buzzcocks one never fitted me. The rest are all well worn...Siouxsie and the banshees one is in good nick though.

Ohyoudodoyou · 22/08/2024 07:38

BatFaceGrrrll · 22/08/2024 04:40

Hall & Oates European tour 1984 😀

Love 'em, listen to them all the time - I wouldn't wear a t shirt but if you're a fan and it's vintage then£27 is nothing so go ahead and do it.
