@Otherstories2002 I have also been there and did end up at A&E and did have an US and was admitted. It all happened at 16 weeks. Your experience does not equal everyones.

Did you read the post? Shes not 16 weeks. If she was she would be seen by maternity triage unit.

Your experience is not relevant.

kirinm · 20/08/2024 10:25

@Otherstories2002 I've also had 4 other miscarriages and an ectopic pregnancy pre 16 weeks. My experience is as relevant as yours.

3 of the miscarriages and the ectopic were seen at Southmead hospital in Bristol which is close ish to the OP.

Barryplopper · 20/08/2024 10:27

I had a heavy bleed in my 2nd trimester but had no choice but to go in to be Seen because of my blood type, I needed to have anti d. I think you've done the best thing in staying home resting until you can get an appointment! Mine ended up being from a cervical ectropian. I hope you get some answers today, sending hugs x

I know you've already been checked out for brown discharge, which is reassuring, but that was the only sign I had of a missed miscarriage at 14 weeks.

Again, not relevant. An ectopic pregnancy is a medical emergency. This is not an ectopic pregnancy.

How each situation is managed is directly related to the circumstances of that patient. Bleeding as described here at 15 weeks is not a medical emergency, it does not qualify for A&E or maternity triage.

What is heartless is directing a woman scared and bleeding to a place that cannot help.

Is cervical ectropian just caused by sex? D

Oh yeah that’s what mine was, ectropian! No idea what that means tbh.

kirinm · 20/08/2024 10:42

Do bore off @Otherstories2002

They didn't know it was an ectopic until I was scanned obviously.

I've had multiple miscarriages that started with...you've guessed it bleeding.

The OP isn't going to hospital but claiming, that your own experience is the right one when others have had a different experience, and doing it in such a weirdly aggressive way is just odd.

toastcrusts · 20/08/2024 10:47

I hope you're ok OP. I had this with my first - brown bleeding turning to bright red at around 7/8 weeks. Everything was ok, it was a SCH, but I fully expected the worst. Good luck

bleeding alone not grounds for an emergency scan, nor is it an indicator of ectopic pregnancy.

Im sure your miscarriages did start with bleeding but that outcome wouldn’t have been changed by sitting around in A&E.

The op made a choice, which is in line with medical advice based on what she wants to do. What’s weird is passive aggressive statements and offering hope when it’s not available to her. She isn’t able to do what you’re suggesting and sitting around at A&E won’t change anything. She is doing absolutely the right thing in very difficult circumstances.

Hope you're okay @YourBusyTurtle
When I had a big bleed during one of my pregnancies, I went to A&E and the doctor that saw me rang the EPU and told them to see me.
Could this be an option for you?

Olympi · 20/08/2024 10:52

Hi OP. Hope your doing okay this morning?
Can you maybe do something with your daughter today? Just thinking what would help keep my mind busy. Thinking of you!

The current wait in A&E is 11 hours and I think EPU is only open until 4pm x

Hopefully it's stopping now if it's turned brown. What time do you have your scan? I hope you're managing to keep busy x

That sounds like a good plan OP, it'll be good to get out of the house and hopefully it'll make the time go a bit quicker. It's awful having to wait for scans, I always get so anxious! X

OP i am just checking in, you are coping so well! It is positive that it is back to spoting, this is what I had with the SCH… the red flow decreased to brown spotting. The advice I was given by my Obgyn at the time was to rest and lie down as much as possible if it is helpful. I am crossing my fingers for a positive outcome for you xx
