For me, there's nothing like reading spooky stories to take my mind off things. I went through a lot of Creepy Pasta waiting in A&E to get my bleeding checked out.

Son is currently downstairs babbling at Daddy.

This is really kind thank you

I don’t know where in glos you are but could you try southmead EPU? I think they might be GP or midwife referral only though but could be worth a call?

Thank you! I gave them a call last night and they are referral only xx

Could you see your community midwife today and they could try a Doppler? They might say slightly too early for Doppler but could give it a go to try to reassure you? If you call them and explain what’s happening they should see you or send you to someone who will!

I might leave a message on their number, but it won’t get picked up until tomorrow. Thank you though xx

Why won’t it be picked up until tomorrow?! That’s ridiculous and they should be able to see you same day.

It’s a voicemail facility for non emergencies (you don’t get given a direct number for your midwife where I’m from!) and then any messages left are picked up the next morning xx

here we have a community hub where there’s 5 midwives or so and I had the phone number for that and the receptionist passed messages on same day. Is there anything like that? What number do they give you for emergencies? My friend came under glos and she had a gp based crap midwife and got moved to more of a hub or hospital base one I can’t remember which but then was a lot better and more helpful

I think ours is the same but messages passed on the next day!

pre 16 weeks you need to ring GP and they refer you to EPU if applicable
post 16 weeks it’s a maternity triage line
anything significant A&e/999

When do you turn 16 weeks? I hope you can find some good distractions until your scan later on, have you looked at any other clinics to see if any of them could see you earlier?

Literally in 3 days! yeah no appointments unfortunately and/or they’re later in the day than my one

@YourBusyTurtle when I had my very very heavy bleed I went to a&e - I was at Euston station when it started and got a taxi to the nearest hospital. I think it's outrageous for you not to be seen.

I’m really angry and upset tbh. I hope all turned out okay in the end for you xx

Why is it outrageous?

the bleeding isn’t very very heavy and there’s nothing they can do.

kirinm · 20/08/2024 10:02

@YourBusyTurtle yes my daughter is 6 next week. I bled multiple times in the first 18 weeks and after my bleed at 16 weeks I was seen by two separate gynaecologists to see if they could find the reason. They couldn't but at 19 weeks the bleeding stopped.

I spent so many months terrified I was going to miscarry - I have had quite a few - but miraculously she stayed put.

kirinm · 20/08/2024 10:03

@Otherstories2002 I was under the impression the bleeding was heavy and of course it's terrifying. Just because there isn't anything they can do to stop a miscarriage at 16 weeks doesn't mean the OP should be left for days on end. What a heartless comment.

Outnumbered92 · 20/08/2024 10:05

I am so sorry you’re going through this.

I have three children, and have bled every pregnancy from 5-14/15 weeks. My second pregnancy it was a huge gush that soaked my jeans and onto the floor. With my third pregnancy I had a huge bleed right after my 13 week scan when I went to the loo, loads of bright red blood but nothing at all showed up on the scan that took place 5 mins earlier!

I have three beautiful and healthy children, bleeding is terrifying, but it doesn’t always mean the worst ♥️

I also just think it’s illogical to sit for hours in A&e taking time away from different members of staff, where EPU could just scan me so i know where i stand.

@YourBusyTurtle it's up to you OP. Obviously you're vaguely content to wait so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sorry I’m just emotionally exhausted 😢 also the live wait times in A&E look horrendous atm

It’s not a heartless comment. I’ve been here 7 times. 3 times in second trimester.

Sitting around at A&E doesn’t help. The situation is desperately sad but it doesn’t alter the awful waiting game or the fact that there is literally nothing they can do.

She is making the right choice. She has to wait regardless and is choosing to do that in the comfort of her home.

kirinm · 20/08/2024 10:20

@Otherstories2002 I have also been there and did end up at A&E and did have an US and was admitted. It all happened at 16 weeks. Your experience does not equal everyones.
