Good morning from the train to London KX! Me and dd1 are off to All Points East this afternoon for Mitski, Suki Waterhouse, and Ethel Cain 🎵. Dd's quite chipper considering she went to bed at 2am after TV Girl's gig in Leeds last night! I, otoh, overslept & forgot something, and think I've overpacked again 🙈

Dd2's doing...something with their dad today but not sure what 🤷‍♀️

What about all of you? 🙂

(If anyone has suggestions for what to fill Monday in London with, I'd be greatful! We have no real plans except the V&A for the Taylor Swift exhibition!).

Oops I just responded to yesterday's 🤣

Well good morning all anyway

CoffeandTiaMaria · 18/08/2024 10:15

Good morning @lucysmam , have an amazing time in London. I love the South Bank and Tate Modern so perhaps a wander around there tomorrow?
It’s cool and cloudy here. I have prepared a roast dinner, tidied the kitchen, hung out two loads of laundry and am in need of a coffee.
DH is taking the dog out for a long walk then I suspect they will both be asleep for the afternoon 🙄
I will carry on with my embroidery while listening to podcasts.
Have a great day!

lucysmam · 18/08/2024 10:22

🤣 @CalicoPusscat I thought someone else might have done today's when I was "late" posting it. Had I been up when I planned, it'd have been up since 7am 🙈I blame the small kitten for snuggling up when my alarm went off

Morning lucysmam & everyone - I started a thread as I thought you may not have time @lucysmam Have a great day. DD15 & her GF are on their way to APE too. They particularly want to see TV Girl, Mitski & Beebadoobe (sp!)

ssd · 18/08/2024 10:29

Worrying about ds really

lucysmam · 18/08/2024 10:33

@RabbitsRock Mitski is top of our list & we have Beabadoobe tickets for November, in Sheffield, so if we miss some of her set it's ok. I hope they have a fab time, I'm SO excited!

I’m currently watching my stressed out DH trying to fix my kitchen mixer tap as the bloody hot water won’t turn off. Thankfully he was a plumber in his former life so I’ve no doubt he’ll fix it eventually - but the air is blue at the moment, my worktops are sopping and I’ve no water anywhere else as he’s had to turn it off at the mains.

After I’ve managed to clean up when he’s hopefully fixed it - I’m planning on a nice relaxing afternoon melting glass in my lampwork studio… but the way things are currently going, that might not happen today…

Hope everyone has a pleasant and relaxing Sunday.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 18/08/2024 10:43

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I hope you have a lovely time in London. Plutarch oh no! Fingers crossed he can fix it.
I've got the dishwasher on and a pot of lentil soup bubbling away in the slow cooker. I've had two coffees and a tea with a slice of toast earlier and I'm considering another cuppa. I've labelled the pots of raspberry jam I made yesterday and put them away for a mouthful of summer later this year. I will visit mum in hospital later but have no other plans. A nice, peaceful day ahead. Enjoy your day all.

lucysmam · 18/08/2024 10:54

@LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand you seem to make good use of your slow cooker! Mine spends most of it's time in the back of a cupboard because I'm not sure what to put in it.

ssd · 18/08/2024 10:59

I do a lot of batch cooking! Dgs2 loves my lentil soup,so I tend to make a fresh lot every second week. I'll buy a load of mince and make a basic bolognaise sauce and freeze it. Or chicken casserole or steak pie mix. The benefit of living alone and a freezer! On the other hand, I rarely use my air fryer after the first flush when it was new. Each to their own

lucysmam · 18/08/2024 11:03

@LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand I don't use the air fryer either 🤣 Dd1 loves it though!

I'm currently waiting for DH to come home from trying to clean the filter of the car by ragging it down the motorway to hopefully avoid a costly fix.

It's Sunday reset day so I'm going to clean the house, make a big batch of egg and cress for sandwiches for the kids for the week, put a chicken curry in the slow cooker for this evening's meal & change all the bedsheets.

It's a big week next week with lots happening and lots of emotion so I want to be as prepared as possible. Plus there's a big full moon tomorrow and I just know people will be feral and things will go wrong as they always seem to in hospitality during a full moon so I'm hoping to over prepare.

RabbitsRock · 18/08/2024 11:14

lucysmam there are loads of really good slow cooker recipes online. I’ve done quite a few from BBC Good Food.

lucysmam · 18/08/2024 11:19

Thanks @RabbitsRock I'll try and remember to have a look on our way home, it'll give me something to do on the train back.

Morning everyone,

Ooh I love London. Back from the Lakes and have loads of cleaning and catching up to do still.
I've done a workout and put my first wash on for the day. Need to hoover and tidy up then a relaxing afternoon ahead. Making Sunday dinner for tea as ds1 has a football match.

Hope everyone has a lovely day 🙂

Natsku · 18/08/2024 11:20

I've been playing with my 3 year old niece this morning, which was lovely. DS played with her too and was very sweet with her.
Just did a bit of studying for my exam and now I will make a bilberry pie.

DD is ill and sleeping still, really hope she's better for school tomorrow as she doesn't want to fall behind.

OH has been playing drums instead of guitar for a change.

needhelpwiththisplease · 18/08/2024 11:25

I've just ordered a chimnea for dd2.
I'm making salt& pepper chicken for lunch.
Food prepped breakfast and lunch for next couple of days.
This afternoon I'm going to choose the books I plan on taking on my holidays and put them on my kindle

DH got the short straw, he and DD are on their way to APE from the rural south west and I have a lovely day of wafting around at home in the sunshine on my absolute own.

Will do some laundry etc but enjoying the peace and quiet and a day without a timetable!

DH has to do this quite regularly, he's always moaning on about particulate filters!

MinnieDog · 18/08/2024 12:00

Still feeling poorly- had a headache/dizzy for a week now and feeling thoroughly fed up. No idea what could be wrong with me, and haven't been able to leave the house.

Going to do some colouring in and watch Taylor Swift on Disney+ since I can't go out for lunch with the family today.

Have a good time at APE!

Crunchymum · 18/08/2024 14:26

Bit late to the party but we've been having a mega clear out / furniture reshuffle this morning. Also finally managed to get DC1 to fully try on their new uniform (it all fits. Yay!!)

Have a pot of chilli on the go for later (and I'll freeze a few portions too!). We also have dips, nachos to go with dinner later.

I meant to reply yesterday about your London trip.

South Bank is a good shout as is Borough Market.

I'm not a fan personally but teenagers love Camden (I hate it and think it's a cess pit but all my teenage nieces are regulars)

Any of the parks are fab on a sunny day. We love St James' best.

You mention KK, so assuming you mean Kings Cross then Granary Square / Coal Drops Yard are well worth a wonder around. Its quite close to the station so could be done on your way home?

As a Londoner I tend to avoid all the "tourist" places but I do always recommend a river cruise to Greenwich Park to anyone visiting. My kids love it, we try and do it on the nicer months.
