Only because I would like to know if an ex relative is driving again. This was taken from their phone and is a long painful story. Photo appeared on social media

You can tell from the windscreen wipers and the pillar that it has been taken from the driver’s side.

It’s definitely taken from the right hand of the vehicle but it looks like a passenger side dash - could it be a left hand drive vehicle?

It seems to be taken from the drivers side but this is what I was thinking, purely because 3x my db has been reported for using his phone while driving when infact its been the passenger using their phone ( twice it was me ) . Because he has a left hand drive car and we are in the UK.
However I admit this scenario is unusual so I would say it's either the driver or the rear seat passenger.
Imo it's not a dash cam they don't capture images of the inside of the car .

BehindTheSequinsandStilettos · 18/08/2024 11:12

left hand drive

emberp · 18/08/2024 11:12

There is something steering wheel shaped for sure…and possibly some red LED lights to the right of it which could be from the dash.

If it's right hand drive, then it's the drivers side.

Ineverlose · 18/08/2024 11:16

Might it be from the back of the car?

SoupDragon · 18/08/2024 11:16

Biggaybear · 18/08/2024 11:05

This.

Certainly looks like the photo was take from the right hand side of the car but there doesn't seem to he any steering wheel or instrument panel.

I can see a clear "hump" which is typical of the driver's side dashboard.

WhatMe123 · 18/08/2024 11:18

It's quite clearly the drivers op sorry

More than happy for you to message me privately. If this person is driving again I’m really concerned

I'm sorry I don't know anything about the driver.
If they are legally allowed to drive I know it's hard to see people moving on after you have been through something awful.
If they legally aren't allowed to drive contact the police.💐

But you can only see the beginning of it, viewed from the left hand side.

Jessbow · 18/08/2024 11:41

looks to me taken from back seat, over drivers shoulder, from between headrests

emberp · 18/08/2024 11:52

It is not a left hand drive. You can tell this from the orientation of the windscreen wipers.

thursdaymurderclub · 18/08/2024 11:54

or they could have been in the back seat and leaned over and taken the photo? why are you so bothered that an 'EX' relative is driving again?

Why do you think that the pp you quoted would have a reason to message you privately? Confused

Rainbowshine · 18/08/2024 11:58

If you’re that worried then report it as a non emergency to Hampshire police. You can do this anonymously and upload the image and any other information you have

taylortaylorr · 18/08/2024 11:58

This isn’t conclusive evidence. Maybe someone else was driving and took the photo, but they posted the photo.

MissMoneyFairy · 18/08/2024 12:11

Just report it to the police if you're worried, it looks like a flash from the right hand side of the car but what else did it say on the sm site, bit of a strange photo.

Dontcallmescarface · 18/08/2024 12:18

We could tell you the angle the photo was taken but that doesn't mean the ex relative was in the drivers seat. By this picture alone it's impossible to say whether they are driving again or not really, what you really need is CCTV from the entrance point of the ferry terminal and you're not going to get that.

TheShellBeach · 18/08/2024 12:21

How can you have an ex-relative?

People are either related to you or they're not, surely?

Mumski45 · 18/08/2024 12:22

I'm going to go against the grain and say that the reg of the car in front looks like a mirror image and therefore this could have been taken from the left, ie passenger side.

Not 100% as can't see the full reg but if you can you should be able to tell.

Mumski45 · 18/08/2024 12:24

What I mean is if the visible digit is a 3 then not a mirror image. If it's a C then it could be.

It’s not a mirror image. Look at the sign saying ‘Keep brakes on!’

It is not a left hand drive. You can tell this from the orientation of the windscreen wipers.

And that the steering wheel is in the picture.

DeliciousApples · 18/08/2024 12:43

Defo taken from the drivers side of the car by phone or dash cam.

The passenger could be the ex-relative who gave his/her phone to the driver though while they sat in traffic unmoving and asked him/her to take a quick snap.

Difficult to tell.

If you have access to the car, you can generally tell who was driving last if the choice is between a tall and small person if you get in the car after them as you need to push the seat back or forward so you can drive, or not if they are the same height as you. Not much use if you don't have access though.

You can report concerns to the police. Don't know what they could do right enough.

NewlifeTry · 18/08/2024 12:47

Except for lack of demist wires I think it looks more like rear view?
