Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I've just made my first cuppa & put the washer on, as well as given the kittens their wormer - boy kitten ate his, hidden in cheese, no problem. Girl kitten is not so easily fooled so there's still 1/4 of a tablet to somehow get into her 🤔. Any ideas?

I'm off up to wake the girls at ten, with a cuppa. Dd1's off to see TV Girl with her friend tonight so wants to shower, dry her hair, fancier than usual make up, & stick false nails. Dd2 just wanted waking up at ten 🤷‍♀️

We're not going anywhere today. I need to pack for London tomorrow with dd1, my Tesco delivery's booked, and I want to gel my toenails. There's another load of washing to be done, and then towels too. So a day of pottering but with some things "to-do".

I might deep clean the bathroom, if I get round to it. If not, it'll be on this week's job list, when we're back from London.

What about you? 😊

Morning @lucysmam and everyone else. I was at the gym at 5:45am this morning, felt really good to get that out the way first thing. DH is at work but once he’s back at lunchtime we are heading to Oban for a few days. I’ve never been before so I’m excited to explore somewhere new. We’re staying at an Airbnb so we might make something for dinner there or grab a takeaway. Then we’ll just lazy about playing cards, doing a jigsaw and watching ‘behind her eyes’ on Netflix. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Gettoachiro · 17/08/2024 09:50

Primula always worked for me when giving my cats tablets, which I only found in her final year after 17 years of difficulty😂

We've chilled this morning, breakfast together and are heading to the tip, then to donate some old toys and then to the park for a bit.

PutOnYourRedShoesAndLetsDance · 17/08/2024 09:58

I got up to go to hot yoga but missed the start time by 1 minute, so now booked in for an Ashtanga class at 10.15am. Sorting out uniforms for new school year later and need to do a stationery shop. Not sure about food but picked up some kinder Buenos, oreo and Nutella brownies in the little bakery across from yoga studio.

Mil3nnial · 17/08/2024 10:01

I've had an awful cold all week (could be Covid but haven't got any tests) so I've WFH all week. Some days have been better than others but today I'm in bed feeling not great. DH has made me breakfast in bed and is sorting the DC s
downstairs.

We were all planning to go into the local town and library but I may stay home and let them go alone.

I have barely left the house this week!

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 17/08/2024 10:01

Good morning @lucysmam and others. I have no idea how to get wormer into a cat. My dogs would take it hidden in a bit of bread. @onlyhereforthechristmaschat despite being Scottish and living in Scotland all my life, I have never been to Oban! Have a lovely time.
I've had two coffees and a piece of toast and been to Aldi. The washing I put on earlier is now in the tumble dryer and I've stripped the bed too. I've delivered cake to my neighbour from my dd, who made it for mum's 90th birthday and had excess. I'm now having a cuppa before emptying and loading the dishwasher. Later I'll make raspberry jam. I picked up lovely rasps at Aldi. That'll be the last of the jam making this year before I move onto chutney. Sausage and mash for dinner. Enjoy your day all.

Thislittlekitten · 17/08/2024 10:02

Morning all.

Been a busy week. New job started which was good. Kids all back to school (Scotland). Ended up with kids sleeping over. They were up early but in good moods. Cats and dogs having a snooze. We are all getting ready to go out for a bit.

Need to go in town for a few bits and planning a very quiet evening!

dontforgetme · 17/08/2024 10:04

Good morning @lucysmam and all!

I haven't joined in with the weekend thread for months due to a house move and all the crap that comes with it Grin

Football is back today! We are having family over for drinks and a bbq to watch our team. Really looking forward to it, the sun is shining and I did all my house work top to bottom yesterday so am feeling very smug whilst drinking my brew this morning!!

Hope everyone has wonderful Saturdays!

FlorencenotRatchet · 17/08/2024 10:14

Morning @lucysmam and all. Happy Saturday.
I did the course check today and then ran so double distance at parkrun for me today.
Just doing some washing and getting breakfast and then will head into town for some retail therapy.
A lazy evening tonight.
Enjoy your day everyone.

mondaytosunday · 17/08/2024 10:15

Have had tea and a disappointing croissant (not fresh). My DD has promised to make pancakes for breakfast, but at 19 that means noon!
Then hoping she will help me do a garden tidy up.
I'm so glad it's a bit cooler out - I lose all my energy when it's hot!

itispersonal · 17/08/2024 10:19

I'm on 3rd cup of tea waiting for DD to get up! Been up ridiculously early for no need but several loads of washing done, kitchen and lounge cleaned. Made a list for things needed for holiday tomorrow and checked Tesco delivery and meal planned for the week away and a bit of financial admin! Exciting

Once DD up and ready will probably go on a dog walk before packing for holiday and one more wash load when DP finishes work

abigaail · 17/08/2024 10:20

We will be tidying the garden and putting the gazebo up. Having some family over tomorrow afternoon, was going to have a bbq but i find them a faff so we are going to have an afternoon tea style/mini buffet gathering instead. I can prep and cook what's needed before they arrive and then relax with everyone!

WhatWouldHopperDo · 17/08/2024 10:20

DD and I have been to Tesco to do the weekly shop. I’m having a croissant while I contemplate how little I can do today.

I’ve had a hellish work week and an interview on Monday as part of a company restructuring. It’s horribly stressful and I feel emotionally steam rollered.

Will take the dog to the beach this evening when it cools down. No idea what’s for dinner.

Have a great trip to London @lucysmam

Simonjt · 17/08/2024 10:30

Good morning,

It’s my husbands birthday so the kids made him a (terrible) breakfast this morning, once he’s ready we’re going over to Vaxholm for the day, the weathers going to be nice so we’re taking a picnic to have in the park.

I hope you all have a nice saturday

lucysmam · 17/08/2024 10:42

Happiest of birthdays to your Husband @Simonjt 🥳

I’m currently lazing on a beach in Crete enjoying my freedom. I have an elderly DM who I support who has probably got dementia (won’t have scans to confirm which I don’t blame her - I would he be the same to be honest). But working full time and looking after her is draining. She’s gone to stay with my DSis whilst DH and I are away.

im also enjoying winding up our DS24 who still lives at home and is looking after our cats. We always have a camera next to their bowls so I can check they are eating and coming home each day so DS isn’t walking the streets trying to find one of them. If I notice he hadn’t fed them I WhatsApp him saying FEED THE BLOODY CATS or DH notices DS hasn’t watered the garden as we haven’t seen his legs go out the back door so he messages YOU ARE LATE WATERING THE PLANTS. We are taking bets as to how long it takes DS to turn off the camera 🤣

Thanks, this really made me laugh
We’ve a 24DS at home; we asked for daily photos of elderly cat when we were away, to check she was ok and being fed!

Wasntmeanttobelikethis · 17/08/2024 10:53

Might try the camera next time
Enjoy Crete; beautiful place; we stayed at Creta Maris hotel, Heraklion

wippandzipp · 17/08/2024 10:54

Looking at insta for sewing tips #quiltylovepatterns and sat in garden. Weekend off work.

eggandchip · 17/08/2024 10:57

Im chilling no chores to do nowhere to be no one coming over just peace with a good book.

TheChosenTwo · 17/08/2024 10:59

Morning all!
Went for a swim really early this morning to make the most of the sunshine.
Showered and waiting for dh and ds to be ready (dh has just cut the grass) and we’re going out for brunch.
This evening we’re having a bbq to celebrate dds exam results this week, she’s been very busy and we’ve not had a chance to do it before now!

BitOutOfPractice · 17/08/2024 11:01

I find this thread very soothing each week. So thank you for starting it @lucysmam

im off to the gym in a bit. It’s my “long run” day. It put that in quotation marks because it’s not a long run by most people’s standards but it is for this tubby 57 year old with dodgy knees.

packing this afternoon for business trip on Monday and holiday on Tuesday.

late afternoon pub trip I expect then back home for dinner. DP is making piri piri chicken.

I’m sure we passed that hotel in our way to Knossos’ Palace yesterday. Is it the big posh one on the road in to Heraklion?

We are loving Crete. We came last year but as DS came with us and is a very late riser 🙄 we decided would be better. This year we are staying in a very nice hotel in Almyrida (about 50 mins from Chania),

I’m so pleased I’m not the only one who likes to check their cats are ok when we are away!

The camera is a game changer with regards to the cats (and putting aside the fun we are having with DS!). He fed them at 5.30 am this morning so trying to work out if DS was up early or just going to bed 🤣

Last year we caught on camera a mouse which one of the cats had obviously brought in. He spent about a week eating cat food and having a fine old time (making a nest in our utility room cupboard 😡). By the time we got home there was no sign of the mouse but we had to rip out the cupboard due to the mess/smell 🙄 Luckily for DS, as he was with us we couldn’t message him to sort out the mouse problem out!

Icequeen01 · 17/08/2024 11:21

Sorry that was meant to say “be better to stay in a villa”.
