Jacket potatoes. I’m almost 38 weeks pregnant and it’s about all that I can manage in this heat.

Sleepychicken · 13/08/2024 16:58

Chicken and egg salad, I’m starving waiting for these new potatoes to bastard cook! 🤣

itsgettingweird · 13/08/2024 16:59

Low fat burgers, seasoned potato fries and salad

Well there will be when I can be bothered to move and make it 😂

Pud: blackberry and apple crumble.

We have a mega crop of blackberries as I failed to keep on top of the brambles this year!

All these dinners sound amazing!

Kids have had chicken nuggets, waffles and frozen veg as I had multiple other children over today and it's something easy that they all eat.

Not sure if what I'm having. I'm hot, bothered and absolutely knackered! Might throw together a chicken tikka wrap with all the fillings I can find as I have some leftover tikka chicken in the fridge.

After various other children have been collected I will be sinking a cold beer in the garden first whilst my own children (hopefully) crash out with a film!

@YorkieTheRabbit do you follow a certain recipe for your pathia? If so could I please pinch it Grin I absolutely love a pathia but have never found a recipe that comes close to our local Indian.

Turkey escalope, baked potato and a salad. I’m hungry but nauseous today probably PMS but hoping it might be something else.

Would love the recipe for this!

As I say, it's quite made up but I must have had a recipe originally. I cook it in a cast iron pot.

Tonight it's:
8 chicken thighs browned in a pan in batches, if needed. Take out of pan.
In the same pan fry off 100g whole chorizo chopped into chunky half moons. Take out of pan.
In the same pan add a chopped onion (I have shallots in big chunks/whole) and as much garlic as you like. Fry until soft/not too brown. Add a big blob of tomato puree, cook out for a few mins.
Add a couple of handfuls of button mushrooms, brown it a bit more. Add a tin of chopped tomatoes/passatta, 200ml chicken stock, heaped teaspoon of smoked paprika and dried oregano. Add chicken and chorizo back in the pan and give it a big stir. Bring to the boil then simmer for 45-60 mins, or put it in the oven at 140-160c. About 20 mins before the end I'll add a chopped courgette and roasted red peppers (from a jar).

It lends itself well to adapting to whatever you want/have. Sometimes I add a glass of red wine before the tomatoes. Miss out mushrooms. Use fresh peppers. Add parsley at the end. Sometimes we have with pasta (not very Spanish I know!), or cook the potatoes in the stew, or have crusty bread.

Enjoy!

Spinach and gruyere pie with rice and beetroot coleslaw 😋

Supergluerules · 13/08/2024 17:54

I was going to make Claire Thomson's tomato & filo pie, saw it on her insta & it looks delish. But the heat is making me feel bleurgh, so I think I'll have some shop bought gazpacho instead.
DH has just pimped up a pizza, DS is a better cook than me so will make his own later.

MonsteraMama · 13/08/2024 17:56

Beef short ribs in red wine sauce that've been slow cooking all day and making me starving.

Will be having with horseradish mash, tender stem and asparagus. Can't bloody wait.

Flozle · 13/08/2024 17:57

Our tomatoes are finally ripening, so sourdough toast with cream cheese and tomatoes.

I may have had chippy chips and a battered sausage for lunch.

Salmon tail for me, chicken breast for DH, miniature potatoes & broccoli.

I just noticed - salmon tail? As in the actual tail? Or is a cut of fish I don't know about can't eat fish personally, genuinely interested.

TomatoSandwiches · 13/08/2024 17:58

Calbrese salad today, some olive foccacia to mop up the plate and a shandy with lots of ice.

RedRobyn2021 · 13/08/2024 17:59

Baked potato

I'm on my way back from a meeting in London. I promised my son a Turkish meze grill dinner at a local restaurant .. true to my word I've booked the table and me and the two teens are off for a feast. 🥰 I love being able to take them out for dinner - who needs a man eh!

Sourisblanche · 13/08/2024 18:01

One by one my teens have made plans to go out and dh is overseas.

At this point I’m contemplating just having the cheese and wine I brought back from FranceSmile
