How did you all sleep last night?

Yesterday was horribly hot. I hated every second of it

Sleep…well I was tossing and turning most of the night, but I did manage to get some sleep. It could have been better but it definitely could have been worse. Glad it’s cooler today

I drank a can of coke after taking stuff up to the attic as I was so hot. It and the heat kept me awake and I think I've managed about three hours sleep because my eyelids were pinged open until about 4.30qm.

Gymmum82 · 13/08/2024 08:30

Slept fine. It wasn’t hot here. 24 degrees maybe but cloudy. Wish we had some warm weather

You could have had mine!! It was 35c yesterday and I was miserable.

My poor husband had to work out in that heat too.

It’s supposed to get to around 26c today and then down to 21c tomorrow. I bloody hope it does

If you can afford them, I’d really recommend ceiling fans. We paid about £100 for the one in our bedroom & are going to get more for the kids rooms (they’re generally cooler rooms at the back of the house but would still benefit)

No problems sleeping even though our room has lots of glass so can feel like a greenhouse without the fan on.

PetrichorSoul · 13/08/2024 08:38

It’s in the mid thirties here but we close the house up early after letting the cooler morning air in. Once the sun goes behind the mountains at sunset we open everything up for the night. With the fans on it was nice.

Slept like a log.

Would love to, but we have just moved into a HA house so we need to wait a year before we can do any modifications

Absolutely fine but it was only about sixteen degrees!

bubblesummerxx · 13/08/2024 08:50

Make sure when it's hot and sunny outside to keep your curtains shut to try and block the sun and keep your rooms cool upstairs because heat rises x

Soubriquet · 13/08/2024 08:53

We keep the curtains shut anyway. Didn’t help. Felt like I was roasting.

Usually, it’s not too bad on my side of the house because it’s fields and a river bank opposite which means there is usually a nice breeze coming from it. Not yesterday. The air was still and cooking

Stayed up watching the meteor shower and the northern lights made an appearance so I went to bed much later than I should've. Lots to do at work today I just want to go back to bed 😴

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 13/08/2024 08:54

Absolutely fine, curtains pulled all day, windows open at night, fan on. It was 34 here yesterday

Doro371 · 13/08/2024 08:54

Last year we invested in a proper sofa bed for our basement and it was worth every penny! It is cool down there and I slept really well. At 7 in the morning it became too warm eventually, but that‘s fair 😊. Where I live, it‘s supposed to get even warmer today…

LoneHydrangea · 13/08/2024 08:55

It was swelteringly hot here yesterday but we slept fine. Our bedroom windows are open as wide as they’ll go.

TeamPolin · 13/08/2024 08:55

Pretty poorly. My DS was at his first sleepover, he's got ASD and is a Velcro child and I was half expecting a call at 1am to say that he wouldn't settle. Apparently all went well however so that's real progress! Happy to sacrifice sleep in the pursuit of growing independence. Smile

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 13/08/2024 08:55

Also forgot we have an old house which is a bugger to heat but is cool this time of year

24 degrees and you don't consider it hot 😮
That's a blistering sunny day in Ireland 😂

That's lovely!

Aldi had pedestal fans on sale otherwise I think I would have had no sleep at all. Thanks Aldi!

InTheBay · 13/08/2024 08:58

I slept well as we have air con units and left the one in our room on all night. I don't think I'd sleep well without them, I hate the heat.

Peridot1 · 13/08/2024 09:01

It had cooled down nicely by the time we went to bed. Had a fan on. Windows open. I had had curtains closed in the day to keep the sun off.

Loving the weather!

Whothefuckdoesthat · 13/08/2024 09:05

I managed a whole eight minutes just before the alarm went off.

Coupled with a toddler who decided that yesterday was the day to run aunty Whothefuck ragged, I’m counting the minutes until 5pm.

Ohnoshebetterdont · 13/08/2024 09:05

Not until 3.30! I had a fan on and didn’t feel particularly warm so not sure what happened there 😭

PashaMinaMio · 13/08/2024 09:06

Very light weight duvet.
Slept alone in big bed so could stretch out into cool spots.
I take Magnesium* which is supposed to help us relax so thankfully slept like a log. Perfect.

  • I saw something from a nutrionist on Instagram that magnesium is one of the most important supplements for women.

My hot is over 30. Which we very rarely see here. It was warm. But not too hot to sleep. I love hot weather though and it makes me sad that we never get any. It was also cloudy. So even though it was warm it still didn’t feel like a nice day

CaptainBolt · 13/08/2024 09:07

Surprisingly not too badly. Cooling my bedroom down until late really helps.

Mespher · 13/08/2024 09:09

OK, had portable air con on for a couple of hours to cool room down, then fan on while in bed as aircon is a bit noisy
